    Craft. This is the word that came to me after watching the past 2 episodes with Ronnie. Both KYD and NutsAndBolts exemplify what it means to have excellent craft in what they do. For KYD, it is the way you put together your videos, it truly is like watching a well-done series like we are accustomed to seeing on HGTV, etc. This no doubt helps the community as a whole.
    As for Ronnie Dennis, his knowledge base of Airstreams is like that of Vinnie, truly two people who really know their craft well. What a blessing to those of us in the Airstream community as many of us have experienced what poor craft looks like. I applaud you both for the time you put into those two videos, the work you did to your new-to-you trailer and just being an inspiration and encouragement to those of us in the trailer community.

    How awesome to watch someone who really knows their business and is the absolute epitome of professionalism. You can't help but think; if I had an Airstream this is the place I would not only want to, but have to go to for the best service around. It's a given. It's a rare thing in this day and age to feel good about going to a place to have work done on something. Nowadays your more likely to get scamed by people who don't know what their doing. Airstream Nuts and Bolts is a real blessing to the Airstream owners world.

    I'm watching that strap installation. It's a good idea to put some bracing down there, but it appears like the straps are even giving way from the weight. Have folks considered going with 1" angle aluminum for the strapping material? The aluminum should be plenty durable to weather, and the angle would give a lot more strength to prevent the bulging when covering the span between the forward and rear axles.

Half price of BB And are a better battery for med and large bank as their bms communicates with each other and the whole system will not crash if there is a problem in one pac. So you still have power too see what's going on. Thanks for the Great detailed install video, I know it was a lot of work but was so informative. CHEERS AND SAFE TRAVELS Steve h.

    21:40 I spy an 0155-2449 Resonator / Muffler! They are awesome. I installed one on my 2500i inverter generator and did a before and after sound test video on my channel. It makes the exhaust note a lot less harsh.
    That video and all the others on the 2500i are in a play list.
    I was a BETA tester of the Onan Cummins inverter generator back in 2019. It's a very nice generator and so much quieter than the outgoing model it replaced. I actually prefer using it over my Honda EU2200i because the Onan is quieter.

    Good thing about mods is that it’s a to each their own type of thing and I enjoy looking at options for sure. For me, I like off board gear that I can leave behind when not needed such as a generator or easily replaced if it should malfunction. Hey awesome video. Quick pro tip. Sikaflex requires Sika Primer to bare metal. And if there is paint, they have an activator. It makes a huge difference in the bonding. Without primer and proper prep (sanding and cleaning) it will release from the surface. Hope that info helps.

  • @NTM2009
    @NTM2009 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Cummins also rates their generators at running watts but they also own onan, so not surprising. 2500w, (even max rating) will run and start two 15k air conditioning units plus rest of both trailers not counting microwaves.
    Torsion axles are easy to lift, we did 3.5" lift on our 5th wheel in gravel driveway because grand design put wring axles in camper to start with. Had to put lift and proper axles in with 2 feet of snow in yard.
    For the water tanks, there are some that are designed to travel with liquid in the tanks. While what was installes on yours will help the best way to support them is with angle iron. The flat bar that was installed on yours bends where angle iron wont.
    Any battery is the same, once it's done/dead its done and time to replace. Even battleborn won't just give you a new battery cause it's tike to replace them. We ended up switching from them back to FLA because the lithium wouldn't last the night but with FLA we get almost the whole (24h) day.

    • @airstreamnutsandbolts

      The Airstream tank has a natural bow in the bottom to allow for a proper low point drain. It is not flat. Therefore the flat bar strap works better.

    Great video! Watched the whole thing even tho I don't have an airstream lmao.
    Just wanted to note that as an electrician his explanation about why you can use the OEM 8ga wires was only partially correct.
    There is no impedance in DC circuits. DC resistance does not decrease in proportion to voltage.
    Here's the technical explanation:
    V=IR (Volt=Amp•Resistance).
    Since resistance can never change, then V and I are inversely proportional. Since Mppt solar charging controllers are exponentially expensive as you go up in I, you instead increase V so you can push through more Watts with the same system.
    The amount of waste dissipated through your wires is calculated by W=I²R, meaning that if you dont configure the panels in 5s2p (5 series, 2 parallel) to make a 48v nominal system, you are dissipating 16x as much power over those 8ga wires, by running 4x the current through them!
    Long winded, but it's such a good video I felt it deserved some elaboration.

We have modified /upgraded our GT over the years and we just did the 3” lift and now working on the flagpole hitch with Starlink. We also changed to the cast iron grate and it’s amazing compared to the original design. However, you need to take out the rubber inserts from the original grate and install 1/4” stainless steel plugs that cover the holes or you will get food/liquid into the holes and will drain into the components. We like your mods/upgrades and looking forward to the rest of them and your 2024 adventures.

    • @airstreamnutsandbolts
      @airstreamnutsandbolts 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is a very simple explanation, because of liability reasons and people not having the knowledge or proper equipment. The spot I use to lift the Airstream is the point where the axle bolts to the frame. This point is where all the weight of the trailer is carried by the axles. The average person should just use the jack points for simplicity sake. I use the points I use because the work I do requires it.

    I can't wait until next week, when I'm announced as the winner of those sweet batteries.
    Oh, and old Ronnie said the original weight was 1,025 pounds, but it looked more like 1,050....
    if those tick marks are 50 pounds each, he may have thought they were 25 each?

    Love the channel, love what you guys do for the community, but you aren’t the average consumer. You got paid for this by getting the products free. Saying you weren’t paid is a little bit of a play on words, although I do appreciate you being open about that.

    Lifted my 30ft office with two bottle jacks at a koa. Got the kit from cross referencing the dexter axle part # with their spacer kit from Amazon. Way cheaper than from Airstream

    My takeaway is that since Airstreams cost so much why are basic problems like lift and water tank ingegrity a problem? Should be done from factory.

    Nice job! Can you divulge what brand / model solar panels you went with? If disclose, I missed it. Thx.

      I watched it all and never saw what it would cost if I bought all of these mods myself.

    Regarding the camera install, what parts did you need to provide?

    Lif kit is aok. What about air ride springs that you can raise for underclearance or lower for overheight issues. Smoother ride for tow vehicle and trailer.
    Used on tractor trailers for some time.
    Also disc brakes stop 30 percent quicker , less fade just win win over all.
    Other mods on this episode are stellar.

    very nice to follow this build. Will ultimately be more of a system then we need for our current use, but nonetheless I am very much enjoying seeing it put together and seeing what is possible as well. Great content. Keep up the superb work, and as always safe travels.....

      This build is very much a study in what’s possible and not what’s feasible for most.

    This is an infomercial for BBB and Victron. I know Ronnie and his work is amazing, that is why I watched. But to pay 4 times more for Battleborn because their customer support is so good makes no sense to me since for that 1/4th the price, the Chinese tech support was okay and the batteries have worked flawlessly for over 5 years. Show me that BBB doesn't use Chinese or Oriental cells if you can.

    This is super cool, but its still a bit disturbing that a $145k rv needs this much aftermarket work to make it useable.

    I am afraid that you have confirmed why I would Not buy an Airstream ! With the design faults, poor quality skylights, etc etc I think Airstream have a unique look but they are a lot of style over substance.
    You video and the information contained is fantastic, I didn’t know about VHB tape wow 👏👏👏👏
