You are so clear, easy to watch, listen to and understand. It looks so simple when we all know a circle isnt. I have tried so many video's to learn this, but your video? I got it on the first try. Thank you so much for putting this up. Also thank you for not saying a bunch of stuff to make a long uneeded "content" instruction. Straight to the point, and I will actually remember and keep the knowledge! Also I wish I could show a picture of the one I just did, it is not "perfect" lol none would be but it is darn close. I am so utterly impressed.
Brilliant, this is exactly what I was looking for, thank you. Building a prototype and needed to find the exact center of some wood I'm cutting out with a router.
OMG, thank you so much! I was going mad trying to find the center of a large circle that my ruler was not large enough to measure. You saved me from a raging insane breakdown. lol
Back in 79 when I was at school they chucked some old books out and I picked one up , one of the things in this book was the same as your method but using a square instead of a compass , a few years after that on a building site a brick layer had cut out a circle of wood for a template but not marked the centre to attach his line to , I showed him how to find the centre and he was amazed , it was for a circular window aperture .
Thanks for the reminder! It's been well over 50 years since I learned it. So it was a little foggy. 🤓I guess if I'd gotten the compass in hand I could have eventually gotten there... saved me time and head scratching. Thanks again.
Aahahaha thanks allot bro its really usefull and easy method for me,,, 🙈🙈🙈 i was searching an easy method for center point from a long time 😂😂😂 it will really helpful for my art 🎨 thank you 😅
You can measure, but this method requires no measuring at all. It is more accurate because it comes directly from the geometry of the circle itself, regardless of size.
I saw Adam Savage use this trick but he didn't draw that first line, just picks random points on the circle & a random compass width. It should be possible to do this where the arches are smaller & always intersect on the inside of your circle.
You don't need to go to that much trouble just use the compass and make 4 arcs from any 4 roughly equal points around the circle and then make an x using the 4 intersecting points of the arcs, center of the x is center of the circle.
Q: So why not set compass to the radius of circle. Put the pin on the edge of circle and make an arc....repeat at another point on the circle edge. The intersection should be the center?

Why draw the furst line? If you have a compus why not just make 2 arches from random points on the circle, then draw the second like where those intersect and continue thensame way to the 3rd line?
If you don't need the circle cut in quarters you can even just take 3 random points on the circle and make the arches of each point to find the interests for 2 pairs of points and make the lines. between them
It's not as accurate & not always possible to fold your circle in half. I learned this trick from watching a maker who needed to find the center of a circular piece they were working on.
Sir, This is the best video I ever saw, to solve a problem.
Why do so many people make this difficult? Thank you, you have saved me hours of frustration.

Verygood

thank you. Learnt this in primary school over 50 years ago and had forgotten the method.
0:36 Dude has a quality compass, it's good to see people taking precision seriously.
Thanks for the reminder! It's been well over 50 years since I learned it. So it was a little foggy. 🤓I guess if I'd gotten the compass in hand I could have eventually gotten there... saved me time and head scratching. Thanks again.
last year i found this out myself and told everyone about this but it turns out that this has already been discovered lol
Thank you Eric,I should of listened harder at school glad you payed attention ;)
So I am not the only one who had a hard time finding it😃
Aahahaha thanks allot bro its really usefull and easy method for me,,, 🙈🙈🙈
i was searching an easy method for center point from a long time 😂😂😂
it will really helpful for my art 🎨
thank you 😅
Thank you so much. I've seen so many videos that juat say "draw a perpendicular line" without showing how to make sure it is perpendicular.
Great tip ! I will make sure to use it !
Very good ,the best helpful vedio in simple Eng language thank you so much sir 👍
So simple and amazing. Guess I just found another tool for my mental toolbox
Thank you sir! Your explanation is very easy to understand. This really helps!😁
This is best.
I learnt it so fast.
And now I am doing these like questions correctly whichi is good for me.
Thank you, Eric!
In my opinion the best way to get center. Thx
You don't need to draw the initial chord. You can simply pick two arbitrary points on the circle.
Excellent explanation
Surely you can just measure the second line running through the centre of the and halve it.?
You can measure, but this method requires no measuring at all. It is more accurate because it comes directly from the geometry of the circle itself, regardless of size.
But shur wouldnt the compass have drawn the circle and its point was the centre?
very useful, although what if the circle is incomplete (like a halo, for example)
If I want to find the center of a dowl rod how would you deal with the marks that are outside of the circle?

you don't know the radius of the circle as you don't have the center
Lol. Radius is half of the diameter of the circle. Basics.
what if you use x and y axis. like measure the diameter then divide it by two i.e d/2 then join he lines
The point of it is that you don't measure anything. And measurements will never be exact.
If you dont know where the centre is, how do you know where to draw a diameter?
Wow 🆗👌👍
Thank you so much i pass my exam because of this video

You know the method using only 3 circles and 2 straight lines to do that?
Oh now I remember
Thank you, There is a Wonderful Geometric order to everything. This Wonderful Helical Order is obviously snubbed by the Chaos Theory Important People.
You just made my life so much easier dude. Thanks!!
Best way - use the point of a compass!
Helping video🎥
Thank you
good job
Thanks! I have a use for this..
Sir I able to understand how to find the centre of circle
help my circle is too big for my compass
Very easy and logicle. When you draw a circle it is easy or piece of cake.
we never learned that in geometry, life saver
what's the justification for this?
Thanks a lot love u
I remember proving this, in 10th grade geometry.
Thank you!!!
Thanks !
Finnnnaalyy someone clever
Thats pretty gude ma dude
thanks a lot helped me on my homework
Fast and easy thx
Thank u SOOO MUCH🙏🏼❤️👏🏼
Lifesaver. Doing Geometry in 8th grade and it is killing me. ;-;
Thanks for the tip.
Thanks 😊
Perfect 🎉
Nice vid I like it😋
Appreciated
thankyou so much Mr. hart your 1 in a million
U related to vi hart?
👍👍👍
Or fold the circle in half twice and where the folds intersect is the center - takes about 6 seconds....
It's not as accurate & not always possible to fold your circle in half.
I learned this trick from watching a maker who needed to find the center of a circular piece they were working on.
@@reddburg It was a tongue in cheek remark Brother :-)
Very...... Good......!!!!!!😀😀
*QUICK MAFFS!!*
(Sorry. I had to do it.)
thanks
I love it
You are jinious
Thanks sir it helped a lot.
I’ve been trying to remember how this was taught to me in school! Worst ever method!
Or you just draw a straight line and the middle length is the centre? Lol
What a palava!
Why not just place your compass at its greatest extent on the circle. There you have a diameter.
Simples.
very well. without any measurement.
😘tq sir
did anyone learned this at school?
Amogus
ridiculous
Wtf
Fuck it I'll just guess.
Thank you
Thank you!!!
thanks
Thank you
Thanks
