Everything About Circle Theorems - In 3 minutes!

- This is a graphic, simple and memorable way to remember the difference from a chord or a tangent or a segments and sectors! I made this after struggling to understand it myself, once i got to grips with it i decided to help others who were also stuck.. so this video was created...
This video includes Perpendicular bisectors of any chord
the angles in a semi-circle,
what happens when a tangent and a radius meet,
Angles that are in the same segment and how different they are, the circumference subtended by the same arc,
the meaning of subtended,
lengths of two tangents and finally the angle between a tangent and a chord.. aka Alternate Segment Theorem.
I re-uploaded this video because the last one had some glitches so here we are againn....
FOR THE QUESTION IF YOU ARE STUCK
okay so angle A is 55degrees. this is because the whole isosceles triangle adds up to 180degrees, you now take 70degrees from this because the angle on the far right hand side is 70degrees. this leaves us with 110degrees and you divide it by two (due to it being isosceles triangle) so angle A is 55degrees.
if you go to 1:07 this explains the next part on why there is a 90degree angle on top of angle B.
you take 55degrees from that 90degrees because part of the right angle overlaps the first isosceles triangle (on the right hand side) and we have previously worked out that, that angle is 55degrees, this leaves us with 35degrees.
now times that 35 by 2 which gives you 70degrees, take that answer AWAY from 180degrees because as you can see angle D is within ANOTHER isosceles triangle which means all the angles within the triangle add up to 180degrees.
because angle D is within that triangle, angle D and the angle at the bottom right of the Isosceles triangle will EQUAL to the same amount.
now divide the 110degrees by 2 to give you 55degrees.
*MUST READ* Number six in this video apears to be out of proportion and I did not realise. the arrow head shape MUST join in the centre of the circle not just anywhere. please note that the angle at the CENTRE of the circle is double that at the tip of the arrow.
in the video it is slightly below the centre of the circle.

4 minutes of this... omg yhhh 😄
@@ainsworth501 good to know 👍
omg same!!!
Also, for 1:47 , it doesn't have to be an arrow shape.
It's just that all angles from the centre of the circle will ALWAYS be twice (2x) the angle at the circumference, as long as they are subtended by the same arc. The angle at the circumference can move around the circumference, making shapes that don't have names.
Thanks!!!

Easi aspi sus....Easi aspi was not The imposter!!😂😂😂
when your teacher spends 2 weeks explaining this, and no one understands, then this guy explaines it in 4 mintues and 10 seconds and I understand it
For those who didn't understand.. tangents: Tangents touching the circle are equal so ... angle A and other angle is equal since it forms isosceles angle (if 2 sides are equal then the angle opposite to sides are equal.)
Step 1: 2x+70= 180....x= 55
Step2 : tangent touching the circle forms 90° so 55°+interior angle B = 90
So interior angle B is 35°
Step3 : line BC and AC are radius so it will same or equal ... again it forms isosceles triangle so Interior angle B and interior angle A will 35° ...so angle C will be 110°
Step 4 : Angle D will b half of Angle C so D will be 55° (Angle subtended by arc and Central Angle theorem....shown in the video)

By the way the length A B and A C were put in the wrong place when i rendered the video. Length A B and A C are meant to be from the start of the tangent to where it hits the circle, not at the end of the tangent because that line will go on for forever if it could!
The video helped me to revised easier for my tomorrow's exam. Thanks
Thanks for helping, I got all Circle Theorems right in my exam

TeenTopicsEducation Ya a bit less music if possible

That Nerd shut up
Here's one more little tip: in the last question, the quadrilateral ABC and the 70° point make up a cyclic quadrilateral (proof left as an exercise) so C is 180° - 70° = 110°. Then you can proceed as in the video to get D = 110° / 2 = 55°.
Actually I used a completely different method:
Let the intersection of the tangents be point P, and the points where the circle touches the tangents be Q and R.
Then PQ=PR, so triangle PQR is an isosceles triangle.
@Suleyman Kelbikhanov No, it's saying that the quadrilateral has opposite angles adding to 180 degrees.
He's correct tho
the literal definition of a cyclic quadrilateral is "a cyclic quadrilateral is a quadrilateral whose vertices all lie on a single circle." here angle 70 degree lies outside the circle, so this is not the right method of doing this sum.
@@AD-il9zs That is a correct definition, but your argument is incorrect.
Property of cyclic quadrilateral: A quadrilateral is cyclic iff opposite angles sum to 180°

You can also solve using this
70° + angle C = 180. A theorem
We get angle C = 110°
Now angle subtended by a arc at centre is double the angle subtended by it at any point on circle
Angle C = 2angle D
Angle D = 110÷2
= 55°
what is the theorum which makes 70+anglec=180??
@@rajipadmapati it's not actually a theorem but we can see ACBX make a quad then apply that sum all angles in a quad is 360 as 2 angles are 90° (tangent perpendicular to radius ) ,, hence

im 8 years late to this video but it still helped me alot, thank you.
this video helped me so much for my GCSE exams/mocks was able to solve the question at the end which is something i would not have been able to do before this video thxx
A + B + 70 = 180 (Sum of angl...)
A + B = 180 - 70 = 110
A = B (Equal lengths of the 2 sides = Isosceles therefore base angles are equal, 110/2 = 55 each)
A = D = 55 (Tan chord theorem OR theorem 9 in the video)
B is the angle shaded in white, It's not inside the angle you are talking about
OMG..... this helped alot, thank you soo much !

#2 CLEW MY MIND! I opened up an online protractor to see if it's true THEN I REALISED A PROTRACTOR IS A CIRCLE, AND THAT SPECIFIC 90 DEGREE RULE IS WHAT MAKES IT WORK, AND GIVES US GREAT EASE AT DRAWING CORRECT ANGLES ON A 2D SURFACE.. I think the guy is dead now
Dont worry folks...we will understand all theorems after graduation
You made the final question seem more complicated than it actually is. The only thing u need to calculate is A and D = A due to alternate angle theorem
even easier if you go straight to c = 110 because 360 - 70 - 90 - 90 because tangent meets radius at 90 degrees and angles in a quadrilateral add up to 360. Then you do angle in middle is twice angle at circumference
@@AD-tr6bf correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't A=C because of the alternate segment theorem? and then C=D because they are both subtended by the same chord?
This is a very good video for revising our concepts.
Explained very well...hat off...best to watch before you do circle helped me a lot....
Hi ! Can you take a video on tangent secant (angles) theorem involving the arc angles?
Your content and representation is awesome !
Thanks in advance
Ps. To the question at the end, there's a much simpler less painful method
Instead of using circle theorems to find angle C, then using the angles in an arrow rules, you can find the answer directly after you find angle A using (180 - 70)/2,. You can simply use the alternate segment theorem to see that A is the same as angle D, getting the answer of 55 degrees.
wrong
you dont know if BD is parallel to AX consider the point where 70 degrees lies to be X and they are clearly not you can see this much, right?
