I'm Australian and thanks to a large influx of Italian migrants in the 1950's we have a deep love and culture of good espresso coffee. I married an American too, and I fully relate to Carlo's joy when he heard the coffee machine!

You must get him to try the other famous Philly sandwich, the roast pork. It's on the same roll, paired with a sharp provolone and broccoli rabe. John's Roast Pork in south Philly or Dinic's at Reading Terminal Market in Center City have the best.

Gran Cafe La Quila is amazing! I'm lucky to work around the corner from there. The espresso and coffee is the best and Pedro is a great barista!

Look at you all eating at a stoop on Fitzwater. It can get busy at Angelo's (and there's not many green spaces around that area to sit), but you should have gone down to the Italian Market on 9th to eat a bit more comfortably. 😉
Fun snippets of NYC too, but YEA: never pet feathered rats and don't feed squirrels (their eyesight is very poor just in front of thier noses, and you need those fingers)! 😮

I discovered your channel about a month ago and fell in love with it. I really look up and am inspired by the both of you since I am also in a long distance relationship for 2 1/2 years now. I am in the US and he is in Algeria. We are currently working on a K1 Visa (also known as the 90 day fiancé visa) to bring him here. After waiting over a year we just got our I-129F application approved last week so we are currently waiting for the next step to happen. We still have months to go but I can not wait til he can finally come here and am excited to see him have all of his first time experiences just like Carlo. It will be challenge with food for him since he can't eat cheese and I'll have a hard time trying to make him feel home since there isn't really anything Algerian related here.

My mom's family came over near Rome and when we did a DNA test it came back as Greek and Aegean Island. I'm really curious if Carlo being from southern Italy, would also be of Greek heritage? That might be a cool idea for a new video. Maybe see if Carlo will take an ancestry DNA test 🤔
In ancient days Greece had colonies in parts of southern Italy (in particular the area Carlo is from) so a good portion of the population in those areas have some Greek DNA. Also the dialects in these regions reflect Greek influence.
In Calabria, the Greek DNA goes back 2000 yrs, so a DNA test will not show it although Calabrians are mainly the descendants of the Dorians. There is also more recently in the past few hundred years a mixture of North African and Middle Eastern DNA, which does show up.
@@chiclett We must have recent Greek DNA then because it came up strong in mine and my Grandma. We have Greeks just 4 generations back.
@@chiclett A standard DNA test might not but a mitochondrial DNA test can trace someone's family history up to 100,000 years, and see each major step their ancient ancestors took along the way. Or so they say.

I lived in PA outside of Philly, and that's the one thing that I miss the cheese steaks!! We would go to Pat's and be in a line for them. Loved seeing Carlos enjoy it!!
I knew that accent was familiar! If an Italian from Italy tries a Philly cheesesteak from angelos and has this reaction it gives me a lot of hometown pride! It’s the seal of approval from the people who have the best food!
great vid, would love to see them come to Rhode island. tiny tiny state but plenty things too do. Best Idea would be to go to Newport, RI and take a tour of the Mansions. Would die to see carlo's reaction to all the opulence/gold/insane size of the breakers/vanderbuild or the carnege mansions. I lived in Newport all my childhood and the tours of the mansions and cliff walk are amazing. then if you come to rhode island you have to have Del's lemonade, ny system weiner (warwick, ri area) and many more ri only things. hope carlo or sarah see this comment!!!!

My daughter (Kelsi) just found out the town where my Great Grandparents came from in Calabria. It is the town of Cleto.
My Great Grandfather Frank Ferraro came to the USA in 1907… my Great Grandmother Caroline Vena came over in 1915 with their two sons Giovanni (my Uncle John) and Giuseppe (my Uncle Joe). They had 3 more children in the USA including my Grandmother Lucy Ferraro.
If you ever get to visit Cleto ask around if there are any Ferraro’s or Vena’s still living there.

Dang! I miss Gran Cafe L’Aquila - ate there many times. The carbonara and bacon gelato pairing, OMG! Once they had a coconut rum gelato offering for dessert that was to die for, but that was a one-time thing 😢. Thanks for the homesickness guys!

Know what would be fun? There’s that channel where the cute elderly Korean couple try all sorts of different foods their daughter prepares for them, and it usually ends up with them wrapping whatever it is in kimchi or nori sheets? I just watched them do that to pasta. They’re adorable. Carlo is adorable. I’m sure Carlo would thing they’re adorable all while being deeply disturbed… would love to see a reaction video, lol.
