Paladins is not so bad. Free to play are 90% utter shit, Paladins isn't. Of course Overwatch is a polished AAA product, but having the "free to play version" is a good thing for everyone.

If you think about it, it the same thing that happened to the MOBAs genere: they started out to look all pretty the same, then they part ways to be unique, different, fresh.
A little bit of competitions is surelly healthy for both Blizard and Hi Rez or else the thing become to be stale and insipid (like happened for TF2 and the FPS genere IMHO).

Similarly, when I was playing Stalker on Krunker, someone said "You can't hide, I'll always find you" and then my whole ass pc froze up
Just a note, Overwatch and Paladins were both released on the same year and a few months apart, it is seriously just a huge coincidence because there is no way a gaming company could copy everything in a few months. Another example the Overwatch character Mei was released later then Paladins champion Eve.

Can we all just take a step back and say that: Paladins to Overwatch is the same as Overwatch to Team Fortress 2. It's just TF2 fans are to cool to give a fuck lol.
Have you even played Paladins lol? There are characters in Paladins that are original. Overwatch is a very popular game, a very good game and yes I love it BUT I also love Paladins because it brings different game play in. Paladins has a faster pace, ultimates are as crucial yet are important. There's a lot here to converse so let's grab a cup of tea and we can talk it out just please don't be ignorant.

Since everyone loves Overwatch so much (with good reason) the community is so quick to bash this game because there are some similarities. As a former TF2 player I feel there is a need to put it out there that Overwatch also used many concepts from TF2 but its never mentioned. Thx for being chill!
Caleb D. I do understand how you can like paladins. But it's not really for me, I prefer the graphics in overwatch over the ones in paladins. The paladins graphics just seem cheap. I also can't make any reference to tf2 because I have never played the game. Though I have no doubt they share some aspects of mechanics and characters. Just thought I'd put my opinion out there.
Happyradish18 I respect your opinion! I love Overwatch so so much don't get me wrong. I also like Paladins. Graphics are all on opinion so there is nothing I can really say haha. If you are just taking the graphics in from youtube videos I would suggest giving it a try as its free on steam... like why not! I originally didn't think that this game looked great also but it's grown on me and it just has so much great potentiate as it grows. Have a good one!

This came first. Overwatch actually took inspiration from Paladins
In an interview the developer of this game said: While Overwatch is a fine game, it was not the inspiration for Paladins. Game development is an interactive process with ideas coming from many past projects. For the hero shooter genre, the game that deserves the most credit is Team Fortress 2. We released a TF2 inspired class-based shooter called Global Agenda way back in 2010. Paladins was conceived as a fantasy version of Global Agenda and of the approximately 85 combat abilities currently in Paladins, the vast majority are from the game Global Agenda we made 10 years ago.
Given the marketing of Overwatch many people do not even realize that some of our champions, like the mini-gun mech (Ruckus) and the ice block character (Evie), were available and playable in the Paladins Beta long before similar character abilities were shown in Overwatch. And specific features, such as Chests, were also demonstrated in Paladins ahead of Overwatch. People who are interested can see all this early gameplay footage on TH-cam and come to their own conclusions.

We hit that point in gaming where you can't really have 'original' ideas anymore. There's really only so many abilities or characters you can have in existence that will be different before they start sharing similar traits.
If someone is going to say that Paladins is a spin-off or clone of Overwatch, then I'm going to say that almost every ability in Overwatch was made in Dota2 first

they make it pretty obvious. bots usually stand still and run into the wall. also if you watch their gameplay, they snap to players and don't move fluidly. they also have generic laser-tag names.

To add insult to injury, Skye is one of the most baindead champions aside from Fernando.
You have to play against bot when you start, till lvl 5 i think, then you uninstall this shit and play overwatch.

Hayden Duncan here's the thing there's a game that hi res made beforehand that came out before OverWatch a bunch of the characters in paladins are from that game that came out in 2010 don't give me some b******* that's over OverWatch was in development before hand because that game made by hi-rez Studios wasn't development way before OverWatch because at the time I'm pretty sure blizzard was focused on making a World of Warcraft fun still

Purple Heart Yes but there's now damage fall off if you don't stand on top of it with you thumb up your ass. The further you move away the less damage you take. Also all you have to do is break line of sight to take zero.

Sounds like TF2 to me. and what a coincidence that Blizzard hadn't thought of the idea for Overwatch until AFTER TF2 became a free-to-play.
It's undeniable that Overwatch is clearly Blizzard's own knock-off of TF2. It's not all bad though, because they atleast made some pretty characters, and fresh ideas for classes.
Honestly, it's hard for a game to have an original idea nowadays though, you gotta use other people's foundations to build your creations

I think what a lot of people don't get is that, yes, Paladins WAS in development before Overwatch. However, they still implemented a ton of Overwatch-related concepts into the game along the way (possibly after Overwatch's announcement). It's possible to have a game in development without introducing any character personalities or looks yet, which could have been where they looked to Overwatch.Even Overwatch's similarities to TF2 aren't on the same level as Paladins and OW. Torbjorn is a lot closer to the engineer in Paladins than he is to the engineer in TF2.Just my opinion, though.

This looks like a kid's version of overwatch, which isn't a bad thing really. Just an observation
I wouldn't say a kid's version of overwatch but rather a fantasy based overwatch, it even has the standard fantasy RPG classes as Champs: A knight, a witch, an archer, an assassin, etc. That along with the card system might be the reason why Paladins gets more asociated with Mobas.

It is mostly personal preference, but due to the third person perspective it is more difficult to keep an eye all around you without splitting vision having one eye on the game and one eye on the minimap. If I were to play a traditional moba, I would rather play a game like Dota 2 solely because of the camera.
