Auckland is home to one and a half million people.
In the past few decades, our population has swelled, but participation in local body elections has decreased drastically.
In 2013, only 34% of Aucklanders who could vote, did.
330,000 people decided the future of 1.57 million.
Why?
Our representative democracy isn’t representative.
There’s a disconnect between people and politics.
My name is Chlöe Swarbrick.
I love this city.
I believe that we can do better.
Together, we can create a vision for Auckland.
We need to come together and discuss our hopes, and ideas, and dreams, to make this a city that works for all of us.

7 years later and central Auckland is a wasteland of crime and vacant leases. Krd feels like a battlefield. It’s right in front of you. Regretting my vote.
