    I wouldn't normally call out a 0 intervention drive when I make cuts, so I did put the uncut video here on X if you want proof that the car didn't need any help: twitter.com/DirtyTesLa/status/1778259057926717643
    What do you think about this for future videos? As the car gets better, more and more of the video will be just the car driving normally. It could save time and make it more entertaining if I cut it up, and offer the full video elsewhere for those that want it.

    • @bminerrolltide
      @bminerrolltide 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +13

      I think your audience trusts that you would show footage of any mistake the car might make including an intervention. Cutting or 32x speed the boring stuff is the answer

    • @ErVibez

      There should have been an intervention at 3:08 - if the car is that slow at turning right at a stop sign it is not human like. Please report so they can fix. 0 intervention is hurting more than helping.

      I prefer the fast-forwarding. Long-time viewer, but my first instinct is still to be suspicious when I see cuts. I think for new viewers the fast-forward feels more trustworthy. Even with the full vid somewhere else (I'm not going to check).
      FF also gives a nicer viewing experience imo. Smoother transition, and sometimes a nice change of pace.

    6:30 V12 was the first and only version that was ever able to get me home correctly. Every prior version would take me on a maze and purposefully avoid the easiest route to get to my house 😂
    V12 just looks at the map, thinks about it, does a few swerves, and then says F it I'm taking you home!

    • @homosapien6031
      @homosapien6031 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Near my house, the map’s routing isn’t great. Instead of taking the quicker, easier route, without an extremely sharp turn and pretty close to instantaneous increase in elevation (which could lead to the road scratching the car’s bottom),
      It takes the longer, more difficult route with the sharp turn. And a blind spot too.
      The difference in time is pretty negligible, so that might be why. But still, to a human, it’s obvious.
      Even then… it’s finally pretty usable here (I live in the suburbs of NYC)
      True 0-disengagement drives happen here now, though they’re rare. But usually it’s only 1 disengagement.

I had on sunglasses and my hand on the wheel while looking forward but was just blown away that I literally had to just make acknowledgements one time there and one time back. The only disengagement I had was the red hands for a system failure which rebooted itself and then let me re-engage. I still say 12.3 was the best version of the bunch and 12.3.3 and me got off to a real rocky start but it's really surprised me and even the wife commented on how good it was. Where we lived, there was a 4 leaf clover and my buddy took one of the exits when we were exiting the highway. I told him "I bet you couldn't do that 100 times" That's all he needed to hear, and 2 1/2 hours later we finished the 100 loops....lol We used to top out on the highway at 80 mi/hr, and then we would open the doors, like an air brake, to see how much it would slow down. We could slow it down by about 5 miles/hr. I miss those days....

I’ve also noticed if the Auto speed is too slow, you can press the accelerator up to the speed you want to go and it seems to maintain it. perhaps that is a live learning function. I have not done repeated drives over the same route to see if it remembers the speed I used though.

    3:43 100% That is my experience with the free trial of FSD Supervised. For me, the most annoying thing about using FSD is when it approaches a stop sign/traffic light. It slows down too soon compared to most drivers and anyone behind me is surprised that I'm stopping so soon. They often go around me at the next opportunity because they don't like following a car that is too cautious and too indecisive as if your great-grandmother who can barely see over the steering wheel is driving. While it may be cool that FSD can do all these things, supervising a car that often annoys drivers around you is stressful and not a pleasant experience. I turned off FSD and went back to TACC/AutoSteer AutoPilot after 3 days of trying it. Kudos to Tesla, however, for letting Tesla owners take it for a spin. I will say that if Tesla were to cut the cost of FSD in half (6K/$99-mo), I would seriously consider it as a nice convenience feature.

      The correct way to use a blinker in a roundabout is to keep the left signal on if you're not taking the first exit, and only switch to the right signal when you're approaching your exit

    I would love FSD for those times when I "mess up", like tonight when I was going through a large multi lane intersection with left turn lane and the left turn light had turned off, I didn't notice, and I ended up facing vehicles in the middle of the intersection coming at me with horns blaring. Not only that, a pedestrian was making his way across the road in the cross walk in the direction I was turning. I got through it without anything more than humiliation but I sure wish I had FSD in that moment, driving for me when I was obviously not at my best as a human driver.

    I think I know why your car is timid at that one intersection. It thinks there is no stop on the cross traffic because the stop signs don't have the "All Ways" subsign on them.
    I think the car keys off that subsign unless map data is telling it otherwise. You may want to look at the map when you get to that intersection and see if it shows it as a four way stop.

And I think something to note about the overly cautious empty intersection "moves" (not so much the moves that are unsafe when say it's pulling out too slowly with oncoming traffic), when a driver behind you is aware that it's a robo-taxi, it will still be potentially annoying, but the instant stress I feel when someone is behind thinking wtf is this guy doing?!? while in LA traffic will be alleviated a bit and erring on the side of caution is probably best in the long run.

That said, it didn't do well as it went 7-8 mph under the limit on the road just outside our development and when it got to an intersection where nav required a left turn, it wavered back and forth as to which lane to go into. 8:15 you have to wonder if FSD will be able to take into consideration the acceleration capability of oncoming traffic that we humans make likely intuitively without even thinking about. The oncoming sports car was going slow but could accelerate very quickly at any moment so safest decision is to wait to be sure we knew what it was doing. If it was a slow car, we don't have this concern.

This FSD seems to use 100% brakes, uses it about a second later than I would, and comes off as pretty uncomfortable. I hope one day they incorporate regen braking into FSD Supervised because this is my only complaint at this point.

    I've been trying to figure out how Auto Speed Offset works. Still not 100% certain, but it appears that it uses vector data from surrounding cars. This includes cars coming from the opposite direction or driving in-front, behind and beside you. If there are no surrounding cars, it maintains the previous speed, regardless if that speed is lower or faster than the new speed limit. I've also noticed it will adjust the set speed based on width of road and number or curves, possibly using map data. Regardless, still needs some work, and I've kept it off and still prefer the 8% offset I have set!

    At the start of the video the speed limit is 25 but FSD is doing 29. Or the 35 in the 25. Can you set it up so it will never go over the speed limit? Very important for Europe. Some countries over here are zero tolerance and cops will stop you if you go 1 km/h over. No discretion. 35 mph (56 km/h) in a 25 mph (40km/h) zone could even put your license in jeopardy.
