    My symptoms: Stomach pain, acid reflux, constantly salivating, gassy (burping and farting), pelvis painful to the touch, diarrhea, nausea. I tried using probiotics and prebiotics. Nothing helped. I fixed my symptoms with a low carb elimination diet. So far I've found I'm sensitive to things like Annatto seed, maltodextrin, sucralose, and more. Mostly its ingredients used in processed foods. I have zero fiber in my current diet. I've tried reintroducing fiber and fermented foods, but it just makes me extremely gassy, have acid reflux, and diarrhea. Finally: I found out my "lactose intolerance" was just an irritated gut. I can now have as much milk as I please without gas. Strange that.

      I would avoid sugar, wheat, and chemical preservatives used in processed foods (also found in a lot of sauces and dips). Try to limit acid, and if eating fiber irritates you, then introduce one vegetable in smaller quantities at a time, cook them first, steamed, baked, or stir-fried. Limit coffee and other dehydrating substances (like alcohol). Diarrhea is a sign of dehydration believe it or not. Drinking warm water, and flavouring it with herbal teas like chamomile and ginger can help.

    I was in gastro-enterology because of my gut issues. And still, they told me that I was perfectly fine, however, I felt bad and still I do feel that way. I am trying to start different food diets and still learning more about my gut. I am trying a vegetarian diet and learning about a lot of the things that I did before that was harsh to my body. And Sophie you are helping a lot, just because you start to talk about these issues. Thank you for it.

      Try the strict carnivore elimination diet for 30 days. Only eat fatty meat, eggs, drink water and include electrolytes to make sure you get enough salt and potassium.
      Then after 30 days, reintroduce one food at a time and gauge your reaction.
      Each persons constitution is different and this is the only way to tailor your personal diet and identify aggravating foods.

    Hi Sophie. I must say your history of digestive problems is very similar to mine, with the exception that mine drastically began at 19 after a parasite infection (which I most likely had for months before being correctly diagnosed). 6 years later, and I'm still suffering with so many stomach and gut problems that hugely affect my daily life: pain, cramps, gas, diarrhea (or vice versa), acid reflux, nausea - the whole IBS package. I've got through so much testing with many different doctors and all the tests come out clear (save for moderate lactose intolerance). I can't say I've taken major steps to heal my gut, not long-term anyway, but your video really inspired me to give it a try. It feels overwhelming, but I'll give this video a bookmark and slowly but surely begin with the lifestyle changes you suggested until I'm following all of the steps. Thank you so much, this is one of the best videos on gut health I've seen. Also, you're so pretty! You must be doing something right x

      @@tbehar2932 Ooh I hope he's all better now. If he did manage to get well, would you not mind sharing what he did and how long it took?
      Concerning the dry lips - yup. I mostly struggle w/digestive symptoms, but there are also non-digestive symptoms like dry lips, swollen eyes, increased thirst & peeing (sorry), itchy skin, rashes, acne, fatigue - you name it! I've been tested for IBD several times & nothing came up (thank God), but I still want to change doctors and see if they think there could be an underlying problem other than IBS because IBS meds do not work on me :((

    Good advice. May I add the suggestion that if you have ibs type symptoms to cut to the chase and get a colonoscopy and gastroscopy for a cast iron diagnosis. Also a note that if you have gut issues unresolved this can make you a candidate for autoimmune diseases down the track. All autoimmune diseases are super scary so better to sort out gut issues earlier rather than kick the can down the road.

    I've always had some gut issues, but after getting COVID they spiraled. I went to many doctors, and everyone told me I'm fine, too young to have any issues and I just have to deal with my IBS. I started a low FODMAP diet, I'm taking probiotics (planning to take prebiotics too), L-Glutamine, and the changes were crazy! I lost all the extra weight, I'm not gassy anymore, and I have way more energy. I'm still hoping to find what actually bothers me, this video was very informative, thank you!!
    Side note related to COVID: it affected my period as well, but my doctor keeps telling me they're not related. I also lost so MUCH hair. The stress my body went through to fight the virus ended up affecting my gut.

    Great job. I have been using this advice to good effect before watching. I offer a small correction that bolsters your main assertion about fiber. Without fiber many, not all, bacteria can eat our mucosal layer which can lead to leaky gut and more just by that alone. Also, I believe some may also try to eat flesh if deprived of the protection of fiber eating bacteria.

Covering topics like the skins' ability to absord what is directly applied is extremely interesting to me too. I felt this so hard. I've been dealing with stomach issues for the last 11.5 years with the same run around: been to several doctors/GI's, had all the tests run with normal results, the elimination diet that left me with nothing but some veggies and meat after having be vegetarian for almost 10 years; STILL no answers or relief. I'm gluten and dairy free, can't have anything with spices, most veggies and fruits are off limits...it sucks and I've tried everything I can think of...and before anyone asks, yes I've tried smoking weed and it worked GREAT for all of 2 years and then started making me sicker and gave me seizures...

    • @ColdPizzuh

      I actually can relate pretty closely, if not exactly… I currently smoke weed, no seizures. Just nausea. I am limited on fruits because the acidity makes me nauseous, dairy free, and gluten free (majority of the time), limited veggie intake. I have gone to doctor as well. I have a vitamin D deficiency. Not sure what we can do to change this. I’m going to try apple cider vinegar! Kombucha eases my stomach a lot as well.

      A lot of foods that are considered healthy my body didn’t like(ex my body doesnt like bananas, chia seeds, gluten and synthetic vitmins)You have to figure out what your body agrees. It could be temporary and you might be able to eat it later when you gut/stomach feels better. If that is the issue.

    Speaking for myself, I spent 60 years following the "high fibre" advice shared here. For all that time I suffered with colitis and IBS plus other metabolic problems. No amount of jiggling or changing the fibre ever "fixed" my problem. 2 years ago I completely cured my IBS, colitis and all my metabolic markers are now through the roof good. I became carnivore. I only eat meat. The problem with fibre is it conflicts with other advice you share. That other advice is to cut out sugar. ALL FIBRE is SUGAR. ALL OF IT. There's no if or buts about it. It makes sense to me that sugar is inflammatory. It makes sense that it causes IBS and other gut problems. Just cut all SUGAR out. Whether its mono/di/poly-saccharides just cut it all out. That means cut out all fibre too. This will allow the species appropriate microbiome to get into balance - yes, meat has its own microbiome and that is what humans have evolved to need and have.

    • @doctork1708
      @doctork1708 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fiber is NOT sugar.

    • @normanbernard2849
      @normanbernard2849 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@doctork1708 ALL fibre is carbohydrate. ALL carbohydrate is sugar. End of story. Carbs are monosaccharides, disaccharides or polysaccharides. Simple sugars or sugars stuck together. It takes different parts of our bodies to recognise different carbs, but it doesn't matter which part of our body deals with them, they stay what they are - SUGARS. Fibre is just a way of describing a more complex sugar that isn't immediately absorbed, instead it can be absorbed by our gut biome - but those bacteria that are part of us, see it as SUGAR - which is what it is. And once broken down ALL sugars cause glycation and therefore are inflammatory to us.
      If you're addicted to sugars as carbs and want to keep eating them, that's fine, its your choice. But they are ALL sugars and they ALL cause damage, irrespective of whether they have to be processed by our internal gut bacteria.
      All carbs are contraindicated to humans - we don't need any of them. We need precisely zero exogenous sugars. Human bodies are selected to make all the sugars we need.

    Did your gut make weird gurgling noises all the time? Because I suffer from IBS and probably from SIBO too. As a kid I remember I used to have stomachache a lot also the bloating gets so bad sometimes that I looked like a pregnant woman. It still happens to me but in recent years I have developed a new symptom which is weird rumbling 24/7. It so embarrassing and it affects my daily life too. So my main goal right now is to cure the rumbling sound first. So Is there any tip you would like recommending me?

And when I started consuming it back the bloating stopped. So now I have just a little sugary liquid at morning and night. But all the other things like donuts n ice cream I stay away

      Everyone reacts to stuff differently so take whatever you want out of this (or don't read it at all lol)
      Maybe the bloat was just due to the sudden change? I know whenever I take things out of my diet (even the stuff that causes me to bloat in the first place) I get bloated. Tends to go away after about a week for me, but mostly I've found that slowly decreasing the (in this case) refined sugar is the easiest way to go. Seems like you're kind of already doing this with having the sugary liquids and not the other stuff but thought I'd mention it in case it adds something helpful to what you're already thinking!
