    I think 6500 is definitely a load of cash for it. But, besides the hp numbers, you also get insane throttle response and the sound of those intake runners on the street is just out of this world.

    Can't wait until Holley comes out with the VVT software and sensor interfaces. Given the size of the equalized floor plenum, even with pump gas, it should hit 500 easily. Maybe 525. The power curve should also begin earlier with VVT fully enabled with the fuel injectors and timing advance dialed in.
    I'm surprised that the 12.7:1 air / fuel ratio worked as well as it did with the VVT "disabled".
    Nice job Finnigan!

    • @1320crusier
      @1320crusier 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Borlas site calls it a vacuum accumulator not a Plenum. Its just a vac tank for the map and whatever else may need the vacuum. 12.7:1 is generally good for power on most N/A EFI applications. The VVT software from Holley should be interesting.

      A D The regular GT can do that?

    • @ReallyRyan.
      @ReallyRyan. 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@betherealdeal No, he's full of shit. The amount of accessories being driven by the engine is relatively minimal, given that they're mostly electronic. At most the accessories most likely rob about 10-20 horsepower and that's being very generous. Regular GT makes about 430 net horsepower (with all of the accessories bolted on). Ford usually always does net horsepower at the engine flywheel for all of their engine power/torque numbers, so without the accessories, you're looking at about 440-450 horsepower on the stock motor with literally zero belt driven accessories.

  • @andrewpaul7441
    @andrewpaul7441 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great induction vid. Engine masters proves the old style high rise dual quads on a old chevy are good for 50 hp this setup produces at least 10 more on less cubes and is low profile! That's the key. Low profile.
    My 98 T/A 421cid stroker ls2 block with gmpp ported heads makes 550 rwhp with a stock ls3 intake. Borla needs to make one of these for the Ls3. Even though its $6500 my engine cost is only $6500 so for 13,000. I could slip this combo(421lsx/Borla)into my 2008 3200 lb C6(bolt on's 412 rwhp)likely making around 625 rwhp at 6800 rpm N/A. Over 800 n2o easy.
    This should be competition for many of the big blower corvette folks. Without n2o crushing new and bolt on Zl1 and Zo6's

    Personally I'd take a Roush supercharger kit for a Coyote before investing 6g+ on an intake manifold like that. For just a little more money they can push a good 5.0 deep into the 600-700 range, depending on the tune. Admittedly though, I guess it's all about what you want the car to do (demolish a drag strip or destroy track day events, and about how you want the car to feel with throttle). I will say though Fin, you did a good job with this one, even if you're not a Ford guy. Keep up the good work!

      This type of intake, while looking amazing, is going to be more about feel. ITB’s have much more instantaneous throttle response so I would imagine it’s more about how the engine responds to spend that kind of money. Or it’s going into an older car and they want the look of ITB carbs. Would be amazing if it worked on a Mustang though without needing a standalone.

    • @francoiscombrinck3884
      @francoiscombrinck3884 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No no Vtech is honda and VVTI is toyota. That being said you get different forms of Variable valve timing (VVT) applications. Vtec has variable valve timing on both exhaust and intake whereas earlier VVTI applications is intake only (later generations of VVTI switched to both intake and exhaust) and the newer generations of Vtec and VVTI engines also have VVL (variable valve lift) which not only controls cam timing but also controls how far the valves open thus can control the velocity if the incoming air at lower rpm resulting in a higher torque output lower in the rev range and once the engine passes a certain RPM it switches over to a higher valve lift profile so that engine breathes better at higher RPM.

You might pick up low end torque that you don't usually measure on the dyno with variable cam advance working . So a bit more than two lazy 2.5L toyota camry motors grafted together, About right. 1320crusier And it's sad that their high end standalone can't do that (they just added vct support for it here recently, after the video was shot, it's in last month's hotrod mag). Stock PCM is king in so many applications (not this one obviously, because of stupid itb's) You miss out on 70hp throughout the curve with VCT disabled. A magazine did a test with an AEM infinity, and with VCT disabled they lost huge numbers everywhere in the curve. You can pick up power without VCT up top, but it requires a wild cam grind and eliminating the cam phasers to save a ton of rotational mass, perfect for a race motor setup like this.

      Uh.. the development of software is not as easy as punching a few keyboard keys. I do agree that Stock ECM's are largely the best to go with but that is due to the lag time of the aftermarket. You are essentially using a generation old tech compared to the stock ECM.

      AKDMB for that price I can expect a whole lot more. At least 550 crank horsepower.

      If you're talking about Finnegan, he's a recent transplant to Georgia. He grew up in California. Of course, here in the deep south, a lot of people (not me) still consider that a yankee. Jim Bennett is correct with the pronunciation, but it's like Houston Street in NYC: you just have to be somewhere long enough to learn the way the locals say it.

    to add a little fuel to the tib vs boost debate. the advantage of ITB is constant high air velocity. the plenum is so small that a really big can will act much smaller, this removes the "powerband". meaning you'll have better power at part throttle. this is better for road racing. road racers do not want the complexity nor the weight of boost. ITB's give you the ability to run a very very aggressive cam but still have usable power in the lower rpm's.
