I just realised something: Dirk has similar, if not identical weapons to Mumkhar from Xenoblade 1. He also kills wildly, even going after his own people, and enjoys being Moebius simply so he can kill people. Mumkhar was the same; he enjoyed being a Face unit because of the power he gained from it and the people he could kill. Both characters were also the cause of the protagonists' journeys; Mumkhar's killing Fiora caused Shulk and Reyn to chase after and kill him out of revenge, while Dirk's attempt on the protagonists' lives caused them to band together and find out the truth behind their existences. Man, I love these parallels to the past games. Edit 29/4/23 - Looking at it now, DJ looks a lot like a demon with those horns and how his body looks. Granted all the Moebius forms look like demons in their own ways, but he captures the demonic look even more with those horns, which is a trademark of demons. It's just like the energy horns that Z has. His initial is even the same as demon! The aesthetic is also fitting; unlike most of the major/mainline Consuls (ie. K, J, O, P, N, M, etc), D is one of the truly evil members of Moebius. Even before he became a member he was a psychopath, clearly enjoying the pain and death he delivered to others, and as Moebius, he's become even more of a psycho; meanwhile Z, who is the original Moebius alongside X and Y, finds life itself in Aionios a mere show for the Consuls and himself to watch constantly, and blatantly admits that he finds it all so amusing to him when he's confronted by the party, making him even crueller than D. A demon servant to Z's demon lord.

@@Yellowlightning1996 Ikr? And the fact that he was actively killing his allies BEFORE he became Moebius! Mumkhar only started doing so after he abandoned Dunban and Dickson in the battle of sword valley and became Metal Face!
Usually I never use a chain attack, not even on the unique monsters. It’s cheap, it gives too much exp, and it ruins the music. Let’s just say that the Chain Attack Damage Bonus got incredibly high during this fight.
I wish D wasn’t such a shallow character tbh. He was just a random psychopath. Nothing more to him. Even Mumkar had more to him. Not much more, mind you, but still.
I think D is a way more intimidating character than Mumkhar. Where Metal Face is comical with his over-the-top evil antics, D is actually disgusting. Where Mumkhar has a personal vendetta against the main party, specifically Dunban, because he's just a petty manchild deep-down, Blackblaze Dirk, at his core, is simply a ruthless, sadistic mass murderer who revels in taking lives. Metal Face doesn't speak the first time you see him, but when you finally do hear his voice, he basically goes from being this terrifying presence to a hammy cartoon villain who continuously steals the scene. He is entertaining, but he becomes more and more pathetic each time you see him. D looks like a demon the very first time you see him, and he continues to be equally demonic with every appearance. All that said, I do think Mumkhar is iconic, and I find him overall more entertaining than D. I just think D inspires way more fear and hatred.
Surprised the two of them didn't try to make sure Nia's core was well... broken. Seriously thought they got her dead. Guess that is the problem with villains like them. They don't remember the right facts... like Nia's core or her op healing powers. Not to mention well... they went and ticked off the whole Xenoblade fandom in one fell swoop. Everyone wants to kill them. Edit: J is sorta fine by me. He went out taking D down and saving his friends.
They were unfamiliar with the rules of blades because they don’t have memories of the old worlds just Aionios. A giant hole through the chest would have been enough to kill Sena or Mio luckily pure blades are made of stronger stuff and can regenerate unlike the blade-eaters of Agnus
@@triforceofcourage100 oh good point. I mean technically Nia is a Blade Eater herself, but well... she was a Blade first, and she also has busted healing powers so she probably would've gotten up ticked off as heck if D was still there. Imagine if that happened...
