I actually like how long the fight is. You're not fighting an actual person, you're basically fighting a glorified premise. Literally the fear of the unknown future taken physical form
This is a hell of a final boss. I’ve wiped twice on him. Very long, I just skipped to see how far I made it. I’ve died on his last phase twice. Can’t wait to finish it and see the ending.
Xenoblade Chronicles 1: Torn half of crazed scientist who embodies said scientist's god obsession and bears the power of a divine artifact Xenoblade Chronicles X: Robotic body with digitised human brain turned into an animal/human amalgamate monster, also mixed with an alien warlord Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Confounded AI controlling a superweapon made by aforementioned divine artifact Xenoblade Chronicles 3: AI of world-controlling machine corrupted by what is essentially its cargo and wants to prolong its own existence Man, the Xenoblade series is wacky.
Bonus: XC1FC: Foggy apparition of amalgamated humans from another dimension unconsciouscly corrupting life on Bionis. XC2TGC: The same confounded AI, in full strength, soloing the world. XC3FR: Zanza-ed version of an all-seeing AI friend who wants to kidnap everyone to his own world with it's own Endless Now with the use of his foggy friends.
I was able to take him down on the very first try. I think my secret was that all six of them were in their default forms and I controlled Noah the whole time who I gave an accessory that allowed him to revive the others. My Hero of choice was the Nopon duo.
A neat thing Monolithsoft seems to have patched, since this was uploaded, is that the actual boss music isn't interrupted by the chain attack theme now. Just played through this for the first time and it made it SO much better
Did you use a Chain Attack during the final phase of the fight? From 1:01:36 onwards? As far as I know, it doesn't play except during that portion of the fight.
I don't know. I actually liked the idea of having the Chain Attack theme playing when Z's HP is 25% and knowing full well victory is imminent. I don't get the hate for the Chain Attack hate.
0:34 Bolearis:come on now you lot! It's time for colony 4 to show off its fangs! So what're you loafing around for? Get your asses in gear! Keves engineer:S-s-sorry boss it's just th-the engine's cooked out and won't start Bolearis:Then *kick* the mudder till it does! You gotta be firm! Really give it some elbow grease here! Keves engineer: sir that's insane this us a delicate instrument.. Bolearis: Delicate, MY ASS!! Whack it!, smack it! Show it who's sparking boss! Keves engineer: I'm telling you, you can't just kick it and... (Ferronis powering up) Bolearis:well lookee here, guess I'M the boss! Keves engineer: is this a joke? Bolearis: Allll right! Now we can come out swingin. WHO'S WITH ME?! Me: Damn bolearis, chill out dude!
This is a great fight. IMO it justifies its length because it really makes you feel that you're on your last legs facing a god you have no logical chance of beating. My only complaint is a nitpick based on how I fought him. My characters died and were revived A LOT. So every 5 seconds I'd hear "BACK TO THE ETERNAL FLOW WITH YOU, WHERE YOU BELONG!" then half a second later "YET YOU RISE, YOU WILL TASTE DESPAIR!" It got so bad I had to pause the game and take a break.
@@voidoflight2420 the passage of fate is a bit vague in 3. In the original game, we know that Zanza can see the future. Z doesn't really have that ability. They may exist outside of time but they can only see the past and present. Otherwise, he would have seen that Moebius would be killed and that the party would eventually reach Origin. 3 tried to mimic 1 but failed the landing. I believe that a more down-to-earth plot would be better in that case. They threw so many plot points and concepts at the players but explained little to none in the end.
@@Izelor The entire point of 3's storytelling is to have most of the background be subtext, instead of the story explaining everything to you blatantly, so I don't feel like it failed. With the Passage of fate, I meant moreso that Z dies in the same sort of place Zanza is fought within, a tunnel of light.
@@voidoflight2420 That's what I don't like about 3. The other 2 games had symbolism too but at least the plot was clear and by the end of the game you know why 99% of the things happened like this. 3 is too open to interpretation which has led to all sorts of fan theories and explanations, something that I, personally, hate. In my opinion, a story should work effectively both with someone relevant to the series and to someone new. For example, anyone could pick up either XC1 or XC2 and enjoy the story. It takes good knowledge of the previous games to really understand what's going on in XC3. Instead of creating a new story and throwing hints here and there, they just mashed up the 2 old worlds and their characters, created a few boring villains and called it a day. Even Ouroboros is irrelevant in the end.
I swear, to date this has to be one of the hardest final bosses I've ever done. I reckon I must have been doing something wrong while playing this game, because I've noticed I changed characters in fights way more frequently than others.
Have you seen the final boss of Xenoblade 2? That one can wipe out your entire party with one art. And changing characters frequently is fine, actually.
Moebius were created from the fear everyone felt for the future. Moebius' goal was to bring stability and certainty to tame that fear. Of course, the way they went about it wasn't ideal.
It's too long in my opinion. The 1st phase with his humanoid form with the changing aoe debuffs plus seals on your abilities then breaking them 1by 1 was brilliant. The giant floating head phase was not. Wacking that giant floating head took ages and it wasn't even hard.
I think it would be less annoying if you could get a checkpoint in between and if you could skip cutscenes. Though maybe they didnt do it since the 2nd phase is already buggy enough as it is.
@@Amitlu they should patch that in. It certainly is possible because the game has an autosave feature. Probably after the cutscenes. And make the cutscenes skipable as well. Worst boss design in terms of pacing in my opinion. I'd rather keep on redoing sister friede's 3 phase boss fight in dark souls than redo the fight with Z lol.

How have I never noticed that. 😂
This is Viserys’ actor right? Damn he’s got a sexy voice
NOW STARLIGHT KICK! OUCH!
The biggest surprise I encountered playing this game is that i can actually see Moebius’s side in all of this, that in a way Z is right
Z has a point, not the same thing as being right ... but his position is understandable, and one you can easily see yourself agreeing.

Anyone else notice the man dies in a similar way to how the Xenoblade 1 final boss died?
Zanza was cut in half by Shulk. Z got kamikazed by M and N.
