Never better after all these years. Fogerty is a triple threat, composer (not this Screamin' Jay Hawkins tune), singer, lead guitarist. And the boy never ages. Uncanny.
Never you gonna found a voice like, unique.
My God, John’s voice could drive their tour bus all by itself. Such raw power. Can’t say as I’ve heard ANYONE with such pipes.
Robert Plant in his prime, however Johns voice has held up A LOT better.

John and Eric Burdon of The Animals were always my favourite voices of rock n roll. They really could, and still can belt it out. That vocal is as rock and roll to me as any guitar riff. Long may it continue!

Dont know if I've ever heard a bad version of this song but I think i have heard the best version.

He looks great after all these years and he hasn't lost his voice. Some musicians don't quite sound the same as they did after many years. Lots of years of partying will do that to a person as well as age. But John looks like he's really been taking good care of himself.. he sounds the same. The music is great. He works hard at his music 🎶 🎵 and sound and of course, his writing career.
I saw John live. He hasn't lost a thing. Great performance and a great night! I won't forget it!

Татьяна, с Вами трудно не согласиться. Бой барабанов и сам барабанщик здесь потрясающий. Одинаково красиво звучала в 68 году и 97. Я прослушал многие версии этого произведения, но этим нет равных. Хотя у Саманты Фиш, версия этого хита заслуживает внимания. Имеет место быть.
А моя любимая песня легендарного Хокинса, как не странно, Portrait of a man. Много раз слушаю этих парней и всегда восхищаюсь, какая была эпоха. Жаль только, что она, как-то, прошла мимо нас, 1/6 части суши.

what pedal is he using to get that sustained sound?
Gael Mendez In the original recording he even wasn't using any pedal because the pedals appeared in the late 80's. John had a Kustom Amp i think A4 (the one from the video) and includes a lot of effects like tremolo, distortion, reverb, delay etc. I use a multieffects pedal, for this song i use tremolo at level 4, distortion like 8,and a little bit of reverb, the configuration for the amp is 9 at treeble, 2 at bass and 7 or 8 at middle

The Woodstock video is obviously the live performance, but the song was the studio version, masterfully integrated. CCR often opened concerts with this song. Talk about getting the crowd going from the getgo.

Too many other musicians, this, my favorite all time song sounded best in 67 with John & just the 3 other CCR members, mind you it was "All" John, but CCR backed him up like a dream. John didn't just have the most powerful voice but nobody could manipulate you way down deep inside like John, when he worked that guitar, nobody could touch him.... He's the biggest solo rock monster of all time !!!! An I'm a "Longtime" AC/DC Lover..but John's the greatest...
