That guitar solo is great! I kept thinking he'd given everything he had and then he'd give more, just like Leslie West's solo in "Southbound Train" at Woodstock and Prince's solo in "While my Guitar Gently Weeps". Those three gave everything they had to us in those solos.
This song used to give me the chills every time I listened to it. The album was my brother's and I used to play it when he was out. I couldn't get enough of this song. John Fogerty's vocal is on fire and the guitar is magical. Have heard the original of the song but CCR 's (Fogerty) version is the definitive version. No one else comes close.
It does not matter, as is your way of comparing their style, it is progressive country knowing that they are from the late 60's, it is my personal opinion Chris, they know their roots.
John Fogerty's magical guitar sounds came from a 1969 Rickenbacker 325 Sunburst guitar with the word “ACME” written on the head in yellow paint. The guitar was Fogerty's main instrument during the peak of his Creedence Clearwater Revival days and the one he played onstage at Woodstock, The Ed Sullivan Show and countless concerts all over the world.Feb 16, 2017
You are quite right, but that however was John fogerty's FIRST stock Rickenbacker 325. It was black just like the one John Lennon used in the movies "A Hard Day's Night," and "Help." He used that on most of their first album including "Susie Q." In late 1968 he literally gave it to a fan at the end of a concert. Then shortly after, he went to the Rickenbacker showroom, tried out several and got the fireglow 325 he became known for. As Fogerty fans and followers know, he moded the new one with a Bigsby and a Gibson humbucker. An yes, that is a very, very unique sound. I know because in my 43 years of playing guitar, I have owned and stage played 3 different 325 models. (That guitar of John's is pictured in his recent book "Fortunate Son" in the photo section. He's sitting on a couch wearing his glasses and the black Rickenbacker is on a coffee table).
@@KVL325 I read John's biography a few years ago. He said when his wife Julie hunted down his lost guitar, she gave it to him as a Christmas present and first thing he did was play a little bit of 'Green River' on it.

Raw as hell and what a sound. I always liked CCR as their songs sounded 'real', like they hadn't spent days rehearsing the hell out of their songs and polishing every detail and overdubbing.

Haunting is the perfect word for it.
The best Rock song of all time !
The opening track to their opening album and it pretty much describes all of the boys’s role in the band
From John’s powerful vocals and harmonious’s solo, Stu and Cosmo’s punchy, in your face Bass and Drums to Tom’s precise and hypnotic’s rhythm carrying the all thing all the way through,
One of a kind band
Everyone who listening this has a very good taste for music
Well, thnxs to U, 2 (-;
my favorite band in 1969 !
Thanks man.
Hell yea X2
I thought you'd never say that but I do I love these brothers and they are the very best of that decade a great big part to be exact well peace everyone.
Notable Creedence
Mám 68 rokov a vždy si ju rád vypočujem CCR 👍🇸🇰

Raw as hell and what a sound. I always liked CCR as their songs sounded 'real', like they hadn't spent days rehearsing the hell out of their songs and polishing every detail and overdubbing. It was almost as if they had walked into the studio and agreed on the chords and the tempo and just set the recorder going, job done.
63 and Love it!!!!❤
Great song! This kind of music will never fade!
I Never heard one person say they didn't like this band no matter what their music preference ....
John Fogerty is the heart , soul , songwriter , singer of the band .The Legend .
Yeah, he is Creedence
@@notgivennotgiven7776 No. THEY were Creedence!

I was at a Credence concert back in the day and I was most impressed with Tom's rhythm playing.
Great concert!
Edit: back in the day was about 47 years ago, in Vancouver, BC
God bless Mr Fogerty & Có. 🙏🙏🙏🎸🎸🎸🎶🎼🎵
This is the best mixed song in history. The reverb, feedback, bass. It just is.
Tape echo
It just is. Perfect way to describe your heart
Reverb brother
The mix is nuthin fancy, It's the well recorded sound of 'Creedence'
It's old, some young man told me. I told him what Ry Cooder once said
There is no old or new, only good and bad music
CCR is legendary: Then, now and forever.
Duke Ellington:
" If sounds good, it IS good"
Those with ears will hear 🤗

The only one that’s comes close is heard it through the grapevine by…….. oh yeah CCR. Coincidence? I think not
So here I am pushing 75 years old and still enjoying this! I listened to this since it first came out a long time ago! Still great!
This without doubt is one of the greatest, if not the greatest songs ever, just totally sublime.
Some of the most haunting lyrics in music .fogertys voice was custom built for this song
This voice puts a spell on my brain!!! It is past midnight, listening different renditions of this superb song, and this is so beautifully raw...
Raw powerful voice digs into you. Then the guitar solo digs in deep. Makes my day. No sadness here. Just a spell.
I listened to an old version around 2AM last year. This is the best version but there's a bluesy edition that works. Many blessings of a nurturing nature.
Same here. Don't know why.😊
The best cover of all time ! CCR was the only one who did that song perfectly. Love it so much
Exactly my opinion. For me this version is the only one a can listen to.
True!
greatest version for me the greatest version is done by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown....Arthur has one of the most amazing voices in rock..imo. so does John Fogerty, .no disrespect.
Me too
So nice and bring back so many memories. I guess this is a the most popular version and the one we all are familiar with but far from Jay Hawkins original sound. If you want to hear a superb and genuin interpretation of this great tune than listen to 10 years old Angelina Jordan th-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/w-d-xo.html

I'm 30 years old, my grandma use to love CCR, she passed away a few years ago. I like CCR myself too. I listen occasionally, reminds me of grandma listening to them in the dining-room on the little radio she had on the table. ♥
The magic of CCR is it somehow reminds everyone of their grandma.

Damn, I forgot what a really great band CCR was!!! Love this song and I haven't heard it in 50 years. Thanks for opening my eyes & ears.
How can you forget such a thing?
I like his voice full of power.. I love CCR since 70's..
It is easier on the ears than the original-Screaming Jay Hawkins -that one is kind of creepy
The quality of this songwriting, vocals, musicianship, is just completely off the charts.
This is my favorite CCR song.
My all time FAVORITE Song !!!! If this music doesn't reach Deep Down Inside You and MOVE You, they need to check you for a pulse as you must be dead....
