Okay folks, so fresh out of my Aldi interview, I write this from the car park. The interview process lasted roughly 15mins, I was greeted by the area manager(well presented young fellow), who took me back of house to the office area. I was first asked why I wanted to work for Aldi. He wasted no time in asking me this and I hadn't even sat down yet. I was asked what my day would consist of in my previous job. I was asked about my previous job(Primark) and he was very keen to know why I didn't want progress further there. I feel that throughout the interview I was getting quizzed an awful lot of why I left my previous job which I wasn't expecting and hadn't fully prepared what I wanted to say on that matter. I then had a chat with the store manager, which felt much more casual, he gave me a quick rundown of the stock room and back of house areas before heading back to the office. This is when I was asked about the greatest challenge I may face if I started working at Aldi. The store manager also asked me about merchandising which was very unexpected and Im not sure I answered this one as best as I could. Manager also put emphasis on the special buys aisle and the importance of that(highest profit margins) I was also asked when I go to my local store, what is it I first notice about staff. There was an emphasis on time constraints and how quickly a pallet should be worked. And if I feel I would be up the task. I asked the Area Manager about how long training process would be. I was told it used to be 12 weeks but this has been halved recently. I asked the Store Manager general questions about the particular store that I was being interviewed in. (How well does this store perform?, why do you think that is ?etc.) I am very unsure of how well I did, I didn't do as well as I would have liked. I was caught off guard due to the fact that I was first speaking with an area manager and the fact I haven't had a formal interview of this nature for almost 10 years. Flexibility was also asked. The store which I applied for was now allegedly 'full' and I was asked how I would feel about going to another store and the potential of being on a fixed term contract. I maybe started to sound a bit desperate around this point as I was keen to express how I have no children and I'm not a student, so my life can be devoted to work and I'd just be very happy to have had the experience of working for an Aldi store. I feel overall that Aldi are wanting people who are fully flexible, fighting fit and capable of hitting the ground running. This was for store assistant position. Hope this can help someone. (Update, an hour later I was called and offered the job from the area manager)
Thanks fir sharing and congratulations on getting the job! :) Please would you SUBSCRIBE to my channel? I'd very much appreciate your support. Thank you! Richard 🙏

@@quratulaineijaz2717 it's because aldi only have a few staff per store compared to other chains so everyone there needs to be the best that aldi cna get there hands on
I applied for ALDI then received a text for the interview! I saw this video and practiced over and over for the interview answers I would say and guess what?? I got the job!! Thanks for the tips!!
To anyone who’s wondering Update: I’m sure it doesn’t happen to all ALDI stores, but the one that I worked for unfortunately wasn’t at all a good experience. I can handle the workload, I have no problem with working out and in fact like it. I love my co workers, they are really nice, and they have warned me about the management and to be careful. I took their warning with a grain of salt and just worked hard and get tue job done! Though the issue stands where my employers are putting more work that they are supposed to be doing, onto me so they don’t have to do it. My hours were cut without any explanation, and was told that that it was a “temporary” yet I have to still do their responsibilities along with my own. There were times where they left me to close all by myself, and had to almost everything because it’s only you on the floor while the other two closers are at the registers, with an associate who always expects me to stay after hours when my shift on schedule says that it’s over. I’ve applied to a PT stocking position, yet I was trained to do all other positions that is didn’t apply for. Was weird but I let it slide, maybe it’s just different compared to the other jobs. Nope! They messed with my paycheck, a big red flag! I’ve been covering people’s shift and coming to work when they needed more hands to help because the manager refuses to add a good amount of people to work so we can all work efficiently as possible and get out on time. Yet when my paycheck arrives it’s $223.33? That’s what I get as a host for $3 an hour. I still wasn’t able to get any health insurance because my manager said he can’t help me get my paystubs, I was completely blocked from ‘MyHR’ and just gave me a number and told me to call HR and I did and no one ever picks up bc their busy. I left a voicemail after voicemail and I still have no idea about my paystubs and the hours I’m being paid for. They expect you to do everything with your cut hours, and want you to basically speed everything perfectly if you want to leave on time and if not you have to stay after hours till midnight until they decide it’s acceptable for you to leave under their permission. You are not allowed to just clock out when you finish your job and completed your closing tasks. They would constantly guilt trip me and be rude towards me, I was yelled at when I was still new for not knowing certain stuff like curbside because I wasn’t trained to do so. I was trained for the boxing, the Jack, doing meats/cooler, bread/Freezer, produce and scrub but I wasn’t for curbside. Everyone complaining for hours, and having their schedules changed, management never answers the phone or answers for your concerns, I had to hunt him down on his schedule to speak out my worries and trying to find a passive solution. Manager didn’t seem to believe me that I am a born citizen here in the U.S and asked me to show my ID and my social security card for him to print on paper to make sure 💯 that I am. Never have I ever been asked that in all the jobs I’ve worked for. Why ask for that info when I already given that info to the company when I applied? I refuse to give him my personal information that I had already disclosed months prior. It made me really uncomfortable and too many flags for me to ignore. I thought maybe I was making a big deal, just to stick it out to the end after I finish collage but my grades are being affected for staying after hours and having to stay even later till 4AM and only get 2-3 hours of sleep. I’ve been yelled at yesterday and wasn’t given a chance to even speak that I finished my job, I did my closing responsibilities and that I needed to leave this time on what’s says on my schedule. I don’t want to be a closer anymore, and I confronted him on how he treated me, how he isn’t helping me with anything I ask if for and by the end of it I was terminated. Shame because I did like working but not enough to take advantage of me and work me like a dog and treat me like less than human. It was not a good experience and felt awful. I loved my co-workers but even they are miserable and unhappy with their situation and are considering quitting and I seen faces never to be seen again because they tried to stand up for themselves and confront the manager about the matter only to get fired. I won’t let anyone treat me like that, and I’m not going to apologize for standing up for myself for how poorly they treat their employees by overworking them to the bone. The store is literally falling apart! They are leaks on the ceiling dripping everywhere on the store and dropping over my head. We all have ONE mop and one broom to share to clean the whole store. Basically have to wait out turn to do our closing responsibilities. Our cleaning items are broken and moldy and and literally taped together with duck tape attached to another broom. It’s a mess, I’ve worked as a janitor for AMB Janitorial services and we never had our tools be broken or this disgusting-they always provided new mops and buckets and brooms if they are old or damaged. This is unprofessional and unacceptable.
ive just completed my online recorded answers and these were the questions I was asked. 1) state your name and preferred store and tell us why you would like to work for Aldi? 2) give us practical examples and skills you can provide working for Aldi? 3) tell us a time you delivered or received excellent customer service and what was excellent about it? hope this helps someone.

Mr. McMunn, I had my 3rd ALDI interview today and I spoke very well thanks to you sir! The director asked me exactly what you set down in your videos; 1. Tell me about yourself and why you want to be a supervisor at ALDI. 2. Why are you a good fit for this position at ALDI? 3. Tell me about a time when you faced a problem and had to make a decision. 4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 5. Do you have any questions for me? Thank you for your help and next time I have an important interview I will buy your program because you are right on the $$$.
Today I had my video interview and the questions I was asked: 1-Name, preferred store location and what interests you about working for Aldi? 2-Can you provide practical examples to explain what skills and attributes you could bring to the role? 3-Give an example of a time when you have given or received excellent customer service, what made this service excellent ? Surely this video helped me a lot. Thanks✌🏻

My wife has over 12 years of experience in customer service and has been in Management for the past 10. I'm trying to convince her to apply to Aldi's just as a store associate - she's got loads of experience but I've heard Aldi is difficult to get into so thank you for sharing these tips!!
Got invited for an interview. I have been extremely nervous as I have struggled with anxiety about silly things this past year. Hopefully I can overcome this and smash it! This video has put me at ease.
As someone that was a nervous mess, I’ll tell you guys now, don’t be nervous, they’re not lenient with that kind of stuff, didn’t get to the second interview

Hi Karolina, I read your comment regarding the Aldi and I wanted to ask what are the tages for Aldi, I submitted my application a few months back for a job at Aldi Store Assistant and then received an email stating to book a place for an individual assessment. What does this mean is this an interview or some tests that we have to complete at the location invited. What happens for individual assessment?,
I had my interview today and I got the job I just want to say thank you so much for making this video in the first place it helped me a lot thank you so much 🙏🏻
Just completed my application for a local Aldi due to open soon, I have already covered a few of these answers before coming across this video, so hopefully I’ll be selected for interview 🤞🏻...but as for any new Aldi store, there are a lot of applicants! If I’m not selected I know I can at least say I have given it my absolute all, I’ve put a lot of thought into my answers and really don’t think I could do much more to win them over and that’s assuming my application is plucked out in a handful out of thousands of others cause I doubt they read every single one, maybe there’s an element of luck 🍀
@@Subbyxx I went to a hiring event and they are they only asked you personal questions but it’s good to know the background of Aldi because the sooner you learn it the more better.
Just got out of an interview for a Store Associate in the US and am writing this in my car. There was no tour. There was 6 of us in total and they split us up. 3 of us went into the office and she asked 3 us questions 1 by 1. “What do you think your typical day here at Aldi would look like” “Why do you think would you be an asset to our store” “give an example of a difficult situation you faced at work and how you overcame it”. That was it, No other questions. then after she stressed that Aldi is a difficult job it’s not for everyone. Interview started at 9:30, I was out of the store by 9:45. Tbh it was really rushed and awkward, even with all my previous retail experience I don’t feel confident. Good luck to anyone who reads this 💯

I tried to use what I learnt on here when I had an Aldi assessment a few days back for a cleaning position. I didn't get the job. The person who did my assessment focused on my hobbies and degree and quizzed me extensively on how long I commit to each hobby each day. The questions about the job I was asked were why I wanted to work for Aldi and what transferable skills I had. So I mentioned being a chef for a long time, and they said you do realise a store is bigger than a kitchen.
Australia ALDIs. I had a group interview. Basically what the guy did was walk us around the store and asked the group on what they've noticed. At the end he asked people 3 questions: why they want to work at Aldi's, previous work experience, and a hobby or interest outside their resume.
@@moonbunnyafreen1456 I went to the Aldis in the Brisbane Hyperdome for a group assessment. When the interviewer called us in, he gave us a quick rundown of what we'd be doing - asking questions and taking a tour. At the start of the trip, he inquired about the difference between Aldi's checkout area. My group members came up with the ideas of a chair, covid protection screens, and self packing - the cashier doesn't put the goods in the bag for the customers; instead, the shopper packs it after all things have been scanned and paid for. The following question was around the cereal section, and it was something like "What makes Aldi's products different?" Our group responded that most of their products aren't mainstream, but rather a result that's similar to the original product - Most Aldi products aren't homebrand, but instead, come from private label brands. The final question was how the shop employees stock more quickly, and the response was that they put the entire cardboard box on the shelves, rather than pulling each individual item out and placing it on the shelf. After the tour, the interviewer stopped at the entrance for a group interview, he asked three questions: Why do you want to work for Aldis? What are your hobbies? What are your strength and weaknesses? Unfortunately, I didn't get accepted past the group interview stage rip. I wasn't really prepared for these questions so I was silent for the most part, try to research as much as possible - I literally couldn't brainstorm anything on the spot - and try to be the one answering questions first. Good luck with your interview.
Thank you so much! I have an online interview with them after loosing my jobs during lockdowns - so this means so much for me someone to help me as Aldi seems quite a difficult place to secure!
That's great to hear - I wish you the best of luck. Keep me posted :) Please would you SUBSCRIBE to my channel? I'd very much appreciate your support. Thank you! Richard 🙏

Had my individual interview yesterday and I found out I didn't get it today. The manager asked me about the theatre (which was my last job) and I spoke about the customer service involved. I have had many customer service jobs which I had mentioned during the first interview (the group assessment) so I have experience. I have also been an assistant manager in a few shops. I was dressed smartly. And I had researched Aldi. But I didn't get it. I assume because I am not available all the time as I have a baby. But that was the first thing I mentioned in my application. So why waste my time? The rejection email said they can't tell me why I didn't get it but I can apply for a lower role. What exactly is a lower role than sales assistant I do not know. Anyway they wasted my time so I shall waste theirs by requesting a subject access request which they have to give me by law.

thankyou, brilliant video, you really do care. My interview tomorrow at aldi (2 dec 2020) , so feeling nervous, but at the same time more confident now. Thank you again. All these stages in the application process, feel rather like the x factor, where you try and get through one then the next stage etc etc. Take care. ANDY
@@user-oi1ez6rz8g Hi, the questions were straightforward, 5 of them, and thanks to Richard McMunn for such amazing advice. The actual video from aldi, in advance of the questions, shows you how to present yourself, even explains the lighting position etc etc, the idea being that you really must try to look good, professional, and confident, eventhough you are probably a total bag of nerves. But please please, I stress, rehearse your answers over and over again in advance, and when you do give the answers, look at the pc CAMERA not at the screen (ie. eye contact). The first question is the hardest, as you have to tell aldi who you are and which branch, and you literally have 9 seconds, of which the first 5 seconds is a countdown, so you can easily start talking at the wrong time. Been so lucky to get what is called a "trial day" at aldi, where they see you working on the shop floor, so look smart (eventhough you will not have a uniform). Takes about 2 to 3 hours, most enjoyable, a session on a virtual till, age item rules, putting frozen stuff out in my case, moving a hand truck/board of plastic lemonade bottles into a confined space, helping customers, and one of the fun parts was, each of us picks 5 items anywhere into a basket, and then we swap baskets and put the stuff back. Yes gear fun, most enjoyable. Just remember, please please rehearse your questions in advance based on Aldi history, customer service skills, and why Aldi? and also why is Aldi different to other retailers, eg its' core values and so on. andy

@@SNEAKO15 just wanted to ask while your at it, what was the individual assessment like? any tips? like what did they ask you was it like an interview type scenario?
For anyone who just received the email inviting them for the video application ‘interview’ READ THIS These are the only 4 questions that WILL come up! 1.State your name and preferred store location 2. What skills that you were required in previous work experience can be transferable to Aldi? 3.What interests you in working for Aldi? ->So why Aldi? 4.Describe a time you have given excellent customer service At the start you will be shown 3 videos that explain the video application process, then you will have the chance to do a ‘practice’ question which will not be a part of the interview process. Then you will be given 30 seconds to read the question and it will start recording your response after those 30 seconds. Good luck!
@@ethantoise4073 it is called video application because they video record your response to the questions and it is submitted automatically .
Manager also put emphasis on the special buys aisle and the importance of that(highest profit margins)
I was also asked when I go to my local store, what is it I first notice about staff.
(How well does this store perform?, why do you think that is ?etc.)
I am very unsure of how well I did, I didn't do as well as I would have liked.

To anyone who’s wondering Update:
I’m sure it doesn’t happen to all ALDI stores, but the one that I worked for unfortunately wasn’t at all a good experience.

Seems a strange attitude from them. Did you describe what transferrable skills you have from being a chef that were relevant to the role?

Anyway they wasted my time so I shall waste theirs by requesting a subject access request which they have to give me by law.

how did it go
@@user-oi1ez6rz8g Hi, the questions were straightforward, 5 of them, and thanks to Richard McMunn for such amazing advice. Just remember, please please rehearse your questions in advance based on Aldi history, customer service skills, and why Aldi? and also why is Aldi different to other retailers, eg its' core values and so on. andy

For anyone who just received the email inviting them for the video application ‘interview’
READ THIS
These are the only 4 questions that WILL come up!
1.State your name and preferred store location
2. What skills that you were required in previous work experience can be transferable to Aldi?
3.What interests you in working for Aldi? ->So why Aldi?
4.Describe a time you have given excellent customer service
At the start you will be shown 3 videos that explain the video application process, then you will have the chance to do a ‘practice’ question which will not be a part of the interview process. Then you will be given 30 seconds to read the question and it will start recording your response after those 30 seconds.

Glad it was helpful!
I passed the recorded video interview, now I got a 1 to 1 individual assessment. What does that involve or is that another way of saying another interview.
Hi, when did you do your recorded video interview? And how long did it take to get the 1 to 1 individual assessment?
@@mohammedshojiburrahman8817 was notified late afternoon wednesday about having to do recorded interview within 5 days, got emailed again on saturday to remind me to do it. I done it around 1pm sunday. I got told the next day around 10am that I now have a 1 to 1 assessment and to click on the link to choose from the list my preferred date, time and location.
I have it this coming Saturday.
Not sure what it entails but i guess it's another interview.
MetalMatt2510 thank you. I’ve just received an email this afternoon confirming my 1 to 1 interview and been booked for 9th September which is the earliest they had.
I done mine 2days ago and just recieve about over an hour ago I pass the video interview. Can you let me know what sort of question they may ask pls. I will book mine later today for the 1-2-1
@@kazyip65 Just came back from interview, was with area manager, he was running slightly behind, it was fine. There was a woman on a laptop on the other corner of the table, im guessing she was secretly observing and listening as well. I kept mostly eye contact with the Area manager look away every now and then as i didn't want to think i was eyeballing him lol. He gave me a sheet of maths questions to answer in 5 minutes. I think i done okay with most, i think i got one wrong as i was trying to add up quick.
I think i could of said a lot more. I was asked what i could bring to the Store. I mentioned one of the corporate responsibilities and said i lived local, he was impressed that i researched that, basically said would you be okay to work in a fast environment. Just awaiting outcome. He said if i an get offer i have to come in one day for a trial to not only see if i like it but to see if we are right for them. Hope i get it as i want it. Looking at September start should i get it.
I have five days to do my recovered interviews online wish me luck people
GOOD LUCK

Same here, does anybody know the questions that are asked?
Can you see yourself as answering the questions?
Mr. McMunn,
Could you do a series of questions and answers for an ALDI District Manager Position?
Sure, I will do that soon... here's one that will help: th-cam.com/video/rJ2-o2gIrMU/w-d-xo.html
Hello bro , I’ve applied to nearly 13 stores and submitted online applications, but I haven’t been selected for an interview. Each time, I received feedback that my application wouldn’t progress further. I made it clear that I’m available all seven days, willing to obtain an RSA, and have eight months of experience in aged care laundry in Melbourne along with some retail experience from a local shop in India. Despite this, I’m not being considered for an interview. I’m very interested in working at ALDI and would appreciate any advice on how to improve my chances. Please help I need your advice
