I have several questions regarding static/dynamic talkgroups. Could you please help? (1) Before I knew the meaning of static/dynamic talkgroups, I had to key up the talkgroup I wished to listen to, before I could actually listen to that talkgroup. It seemed that, that talkgroup will timeout and after that I won't be able to receive anything from that talkgroup until I keying it up again. (2) For the dynamic talkgroup operation, if I want to listen to 3 talkgroups at the same time, do I need to key up those 3 talkgroups one by one, or do I just need to key up any of those 3 talkgroups and I'll be able to receive things from those 3 talkgroups? Also, If I key them up one by one, will I be able to receive the first talkgroup when I key up the 2nd talkgroup, and will I be able to receive the 2nd talkgroup when I key up the 3rd talkgroup? (3) After watching this very video, I know how to configure stactic talkgroups, where they will be "permanently" attached. If so, does it mean I don't need to perform a key-up to the desired talkgroup and I can still listen to that talkgroup? And how should I program my TRBO radio if I want to monitor several talkgroups, say 6 talkgroups, at the same time? Would you prefer having one talkgroup per channel and then add those 6 channels to a scan list, or having one (or six) channels while each channel has a Rx group list to receive those 6 talkgroups? (4) I'm new to MMDVM and THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!
Sorry I somehow missed your comment as I would have liked to reply sooner. I'll answer your questions below. 1. That's correct, you were just activating talkgroups dynamically. 2. You'll need to key up each talkgroup. The brandmeister system has no way to know which specific three talkgroups you want to listen to, so you will have to key up on each (or set them as statically linked) 3.Yes, you do not need to key up on statically linked talkgroups to activate them. They will be permanently activated and any audio on the talkgroup will be transmitted by the hotspot. To monitor 6 talkgroups, the most sensible way would be to set them as static talkgroups on brandmeister website. Then program the radio by putting all 6 talkgroups in a RX group list and assign that to a channel programmed for the hotspot's frequency and colour code. OR if you have a radio with promiscuous mode, monitor mode or whatever that brand decides to call it, you can skip the RX group bit and just leave the radio on the hotspot's channel with promiscuous mode turned on.
@@radiosification Thanks for the reply. If I put that 6 talkgroups in a statically-linked manner and I decide to transmit on one of them, say TG91-Worldwide, after the transmission, will I still be able to listen to all 6 talkgroups, or will I be linked to TG91 only?
@@radiosification I found that the "scan list" method I proposed has a slower response time in my TRBO radio because, I think, all that channels share the same frequency and colour code. The "switching" time between channels once being scanned is a little bit slow.
What about firewall rules? Ports? Everyone is behind a firewall now and a video describing what ports and rules need to be configured in a firewall to allow pi-star to communicate behind it. Thanks mate.
Love your videos, straight forward...no nonsense. I wonder what screen capture software you are running? And what microphone you use? It's always clear and with consistent volume. Thanks in advance.
Hi Ben! Glad to see you back m8. Funny enough I just gave you a shout on HR lol! Give me a call on HR or FN sometime and we can have a chat on the repeater or simplex. Hope you and your family are well! Regards de 2E0WYD Bob
The question no one answers and never addresses is how do you plug the hot spot into the computer to program it????????!!! And which port on the hot spot do you plug it in?? I have watched many video s and none give this information
DMR gateway is when you want to connect to multiple networks at the same time. If it still works the same as when I last used it then you have to append a number to the start of the talkgroup to denote the network you want to use. If you're just using one network then it's simpler to do it this way I did in the video
I am sorry but I have to ask again. Where do I get a copy of the programming software that you use? What I have does not match yours and I get lost of program the radio wrong.
@@radiosification March 2020 version of PI and I have the Brandmeister API. Unlink in Admin tab show disconnect but doesn't. Have to go to My BM account and move the dynamic TG which shows up as a static TG out. As long as I don't have to reboot my HS it's cool. Thanks.

I do not suggest a scan list. You should use a group list instead
No you won't unlink from the other talkgroups

it doesn't need any adjustment to firewalls as far as I know
Thank you . good tutorial. I am new in digial DMR world

Thanks for the Up buddy. Really useful videos. Appreciated.

Hey Bob! Nice to hear from you. Are you doing much tomorrow? I can try and catch you on the radio sometime during the day?

You don't! You program everything via the webpage, over your local network.
I had my DMR set to DMRGATEWAY then click on save then the brandmeister came up and I then picked BM 3102. Is this wrong it just another way to do it?

Note that I believe now a password is required on ALL of the three USA servers (2021).

Unlink dynamic on BM unlinks on slot 0 not slot 2. What am I doing wrong?
Are you using a duplex hotspot?
@@radiosification MMDVM simplex. Only way out is reset connection
I'm not sure then. Maybe somebody else will be able to help you.
