The reason why I started doing these videos in the first place was to pay tribute to him so I'm glad it worked for you, although there is nothing better than to watch the master himself... ;)
You're damned good. They say that drummers don't learn to play, they're born into it. You were born right for it. And those Tama drums sound great. That part starting at 8:11 is magnificent.
First time i heard this song i started to cry out of sheer air-drumming joy. When i saw this video today, 20 years later, i got that tear in my eye again. Well done from Norway man!!!
absolutely love the passion you play with, Obviously you are a deep Rush an Neil Peart fan. Rock on!!!! You killed it and your videos are truly awesome.
This song is truly an epic masterpiece. Well done sir, well done. I think I can speak for everyone here that we all wish that you would come back and continue to share your precious gift with us...
Still diggin’ this in 2023.Hope you are well.I am a 60 yr old guitarist from Australia.Been playing this on guitar since I was 16.I’m getting back into playing...this year.Hope your still keeping your chops up.Brendan.
I just love the sci-fi feel of some of the rush songs like this one. Especially the necromancer. The necromancer was a long but great song to listen to. I truely give full respect to this band and what they have done from the early 70's to even now. They just released a new album called clockwork angels and cant wait to hear what the new rush sounds like.
WOW! all I can say is WOW! This is crazy, you remind me so much of my brother. He is a die hard RUSH fan and an Astrophysicist. Not a drummer but you even look a little alike. Anyway, one of my favorite songs and although it's been awhile, you drumming is EXCELLENT! Always captivates me. Drum on!
Hey Astrotama, that was simply wonderful! I hadn't tuned in for a while due to moving and personal issues, etc.. It's great to hear you again and I truly appreciate your amazing talent. Please don't ever stop!.............Art
Another classic! Thanks! Waiting to get my hands on Clockwork Angels. Been listening to the songs this weekend and I have to say that I am totally blown away by the album.
Glorious!!! On so many levels not the least of which is having only one camera edit! I'm soooo used to missing guitar, bass and drum parts because of 2 second camera edits. It's like slipping into a hot bath of gloriousness
Dude this was awesome plus the fact that you are an astrophysicist is also kickass. I was looking to see if you covered By-tor and the snow dog. The drumming Neil does a little less than halfway through that song is just so awesome
One of my favorites from Rush, that ending finale was very well done. Seeing you play it highlighted or showcased Neil's amazing creativity and skills with the drums. I don't think I've seen better rendition of his drumming by anyone professional or novice.
You, sir, are truly an amazing drummer!! I LOVE your RUSH covers you had me sold at the first video I saw of you... I also have to add that your body movement sort of resembles that of Mr. Peart's when you're doing them crazy drum rolls and cymbal crashes! Keep on rocking man!!!
Thank you for noticing. The breaks in this song are very strange and it took me a while to either learn how to count them or better, how to feel them. I've focused on this for weeks before turning the camera on. ;)
Fantastic job!!! Only been a drummer for about 12 years. Learning from my dad who's been drumming for 47 years. The only thing I noticed was at the end. You went from playing with feel to hitting the drums. I'm sure you can play with feel at that part. It's one of his hardest songs. So I totally understand. But you had that timing down which I can't figure out for the life of me! Still fantastic job brother!
Thank you! I think at the end I was just trying to go through the notes as accurately as possible and keep breathing. It took me many many takes of playing the entire song for hours before getting a version I was happy with so fatigue was starting to be a factor. I'm old. ;)
Man I was reading the description and by the 19th minute I'd already gave an thumbs up for this. I am working a guitar cover myself. Great version you made! Greetings from Brazil!
Cool stuff! Looks like you're having a good time, dude! Something other than Tom Sawyer. You're a deep cut kinda Rush Fan. Rock and roll! Great playing!
The reason why I started doing these videos in the first place was to pay tribute to him so I'm glad it worked for you, although there is nothing better than to watch the master himself... ;)
Watching others who were inspired by him is equally enjoyable.

It's amazing how he manages to tune the drums to sound exactly like the album as well. Not only is the playing perfect so is the tuning of the drums!
Still diggin’ this in 2023.Hope you are well.I am a 60 yr old guitarist from Australia.Been playing this on guitar since I was 16.I’m getting back into playing...this year.Hope your still keeping your chops up.Brendan.
Thank you! Still playing a little but never enough...
Absolutely outstanding performance, that drum at 8:30, i mean what a part!!!
Wow man, that is some bad ass drumming. Tempo goes up to eleven at 8.30 mark, i nearly had a stroke watching you. Best cover of Neil I've seen
Thank you!
Dude! You rock!!! Bless you for worshiping Neil as much as I do! keep up the great work brother!
I think you're ready to play in a band.
and then some
Very well done!
Five years and Ten months later!!
I'm almost speechless watching you play. You are every where. Truly amazing.
One of my greatest memories of seeing Rush for the first time in 1978 and seeing them perform this great song. Great job. 🙂
Thank you!
Great!!! Cant wait to be able to get it. Thanks for the awesome covers and cant wait for more.

It's amazing how Rush songs from the 70's/80's are still so relevant. Nice job with such a difficult song.
You are blowing my mind! I grew up listening to these guys. Played all of their songs on guitar. Your drumming is impeccable!
Thank you, this one brought a tear of joy to my eye.
Killer performance, just killed it!!
I wish I could give this video an infinite amount of likes. Well done, Sir!
Spot on! That is awesome! Cygnus X-1 is one of all time favorite Rush songs and you definitely nailed it!

Strong with great power and execution! You have that Bonham sound from your snare as well.
The original drum track is still there. I mix my drums a bit louder and I try to play the drum parts are accurately as possible to avoid a cacophony.
I'm out of breath just watching that! Fantastic! You are an amazing musician. Tempo is rock solid, technique is flawless.
Fucking a. I can hear the love for this song in every note you hit. Way to go man this is incredible.
Holy cow! That was awesome! That end part really has a lot going on. Great timing.
I love the old Rush and your performances of the old Rush. Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching!

Waiting to get my hands on Clockwork Angels. Been listening to the songs this weekend and I have to say that I am totally blown away by the album.
Well done! Your rendition has the extra bit of polish that makes all the difference.
The last section was outstanding....your flying into another dimension!!
Glorious!!! On so many levels not the least of which is having only one camera edit! I'm soooo used to missing guitar, bass and drum parts because of 2 second camera edits. It's like slipping into a hot bath of gloriousness
Awesome work, man!! Love the fill on 8:30. Talk about an all out assault. Neil is a f*cking genius!!!
Dude this was awesome plus the fact that you are an astrophysicist is also kickass. I was looking to see if you covered By-tor and the snow dog. The drumming Neil does a little less than halfway through that song is just so awesome
That was sick. You nailed it. Great job!
Steven Hendrickson Thank you!
one of my favorite Rush tunes...this one is so much fun to play on drums, just like Xanadu
Falling into a black hole, on drums, looks like quite the aerobic workout. Awesome work, Astro.
Thank you!
Thank You! The passion…I hope Neil got to see this.
Nailed it. Very good work, my man!! Neil would smile! I see lots of Rush drum covers but you have the power and intensity down pat! Excellent!
Thank you!

Yes, I agree 150%! His body movements really do resemble Mr Peart's and that makes the videos more enjoyable to watch... at least for me. :)
Thank you for noticing. The breaks in this song are very strange and it took me a while to either learn how to count them or better, how to feel them. I've focused on this for weeks before turning the camera on. ;)
