    Excellent tutorial!! As a 69 year old with guitar as my main instrument I have been dabbling in keyboards for quite some time. These days I only record or jam with some friends at my studio. After watching this I downloaded MainStage on my MacBook Pro. I use an M-Audio MK2. The things I've learned from this video have made it much easier for me to navigate MainStage. Louis is an amazing keyboardist!! Keep up the good work kids. The band is amazing!!!!

I have been following you and your band mates for about a year now and think you are amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us.❤️🙏👏❤️🙏👏❤️

    Really cool vid! Louis is a great looking, mature young man - beyond his years. Very cool to get some up close time with him, to see what he does! Great player, and the keys make the band even better, and more versatile. I would have loved to hear that Van Halen "Feels So Good" patch! And also Journey Separate Ways. Jump, Dreams, Feels So Good, Separate Ways, and Tom Sawyer. My Top5 All-Time Fave Keyboard Rock Songs! Oh. And and... Here I Go Again. Gotta throw that one in there. OK - you guys ROCK !!! Edit: And Subdivisions. LOL They keep coming into my head. Love The Cars too!

    Once had an under $100.00 Casio keyboard I used to mess around with decades ago but never took it deep into the various sound controls but did have it hooked up to a 100 watt stereo system & 1 day 2 keys stopped working so it was donated after attempting to fix to no avail. Used to play Proud Mary & a few various others.

    Hello, great video guys! Louis did a great job nailing those keyboard parts. What OS are you using on your laptop to run Mainstage? I Am interested in downsizing my current keyboard rig and going with a similar setup. Sounds like you have most all the patches a classic rock cover band could use.

    • @kidsaloneband
      @kidsaloneband  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's definitely a process to move from hardware keyboard to a Mac (MainStage) -> MIDI controller setup. Don't rush it, there will be lots to tweak and iron out. It's worth it, but difficult to happen instantly. Remember, we have a LOT of different plugins. Roland Cloud is for sure a solid starting point, OR, maybe you'd like to investigate the presets that can be purchased from individuals who make them for Top40 or Classic Rock bands. (Search on TH-cam...) Louis's Mac is an M1 so it's running the latest OS.

    Just made the switch from an old Yamaha Sy85 to MainStage in December. Very good upgrade. But definitely a lot of work finding the perfect patch.

    • @kidsaloneband
      @kidsaloneband  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The thing with MainStage is there's many ways to select a patch, and sometimes you can grab just the straight sound whereas if you select it from the library (as a channel strip preset) it will come with effects and it really helps it sound more like stock patches on hardware keyboards! Plugins make all the difference, but suddenly $29 becomes more....

    Great content. Enjoyed the deep dive. What about the steve winwood sound, "while you see a chance". So much in this video that I wasn't aware of. Not a keyboard player, but i found an old concertmate in the trash, and it works. How do most people record keyboards? Mic a speaker or straight in? Louis, start a channel

    • @kidsaloneband
      @kidsaloneband  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh boy, recording keys??? So, yes, something like a Leslie speaker for a Hammond B3 organ, would be mic'ed in a variety of ways. But keyboards now? It's all MIDI... it's just too convenient, as you can go in after the recording and delete little slips, move or extend notes... you don't even wanna know about quantizing... it's very synthetic, but ultimately, if done right, it's still "human" and yet greatly benefits from technology. It's not new though! The Atari ST and various other computers were recording MIDI and not sound directly from the keyboards since the mid-80s... These days, even AUDIO can be quantized... It just makes everything that these classic rock acts achieved with just 2, 4 and 8 tracks truly more amazing!

    hey, bought Sonic Projects: greath program but not very user friendly, 159$CDN, not bad at all with everything you have. Can you make a video on how to install and use the program?

    • @kidsaloneband
      @kidsaloneband  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is MainStage your VST host? On a software instrument channel strip, you’ll add the plugin. Sonic Projects has a lot of videos, likely some that show how to do exactly what you’re asking, and I’m certain they’ll help get you rolling if you need to contact them via email.
