    Great list as always and slowly becoming my go to for reviews as I feel my taste in scotch is very similar to yours. So I am in New Zealand for work and had to bring a bottle for my isolation and the easy choice was one of my Bunnahabhain 12s. Since it was the only bottle I was drinking over 10 nights, I really got to know and love this bottle, so 100% agree with your choice as for the price and availability its a home run. For my 3 weeks while working here, I decided to bring a bottle of Kilkerran 12, which has become a staple of mine and will always have a bottle on deck with one in reserve. Between these 2 bottles, I had everything I needed honestly, but did miss some of my others I have open at home that are more special occasion or Friday night drams like my Springbank 10, Glen Scotia Victoriana, The Balvenie 15yr Single Barrel and Yamazaki 12yr.

    Wonderful review and recommendation, Alan!
    It's tough to pin down to only 5, but my 5 will be just based on affordability, accessibility and non cask strength as my daily drams:
    Ardbeg 10
    Kilkerran 12
    Clynelish 14
    Arran 10
    Bunnahabhain 12

    Thank You for your take on this list. I shall be on the lookout for the Kilkerran 12 year and the Bunnahabhain 12 year old as well. Those are the most available. By me I hope the GlenAllachie Batch 2 came in and that is it. This batch hit my area in full force months ago and for the most part they sit on the shelves. I'm happy I can get most of these for retail.

    Had a solid 60ml sample of the Edradour recently, and found it difficult to get 'into', adding some water brought out a lot of oak bitterness. Definitely needs more to sit with and get to know by the cozy Friday night fire ;) Look forward to getting a bottle eventually. GlenAllachie 10CS is one of the next on my list, and just about to kill both my bottles of Bunna 12 and Kilkerran 12. Cheers, Alan!

    • @exactmat
      @exactmat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the KK12 is not as pleasing as the Glengoyne. It’s more straightforward, rough and most important it has that salty maritime flavour in combination with a little bit of smoke combined with a nice sweetness. Definitely something different than the Glengoyne, but it’s great stuff. You cannot go wrong with it.
      Enjoy

      It's awesome fella I would not compare it at all to glengoyne... The kilkerran is typical Campbeltown.... Funky ex bourbon casks lemon citrus some salty sweet fruity notes... By far one of the stand out 12s...its a defo. Buy.... Cheers my friend...

      Like you said, it’s so hard to narrow down but here goes: 1) Everyday sipper I would need to break down into a) sherry or b) ex-bourbon or c) peated: a) used to be Glendronach 12, but now would be a Bunnahabhain 12 or anything by GlenAllachie b) Kilkerran 12 c) Ardbeg Uigeadail 2) Best value, without a doubt Bunnahabhain 12 3) Something unique: An SMWS or another similar independent bottling, such as a Cask Strength Signatory vintage 4) For your whisky person ready to take the next step: GlenAllachie Cask Strength batch 4; or a Kavalan Cask Strength sherried whisky. 5) For something really special, I’d crack open either a Glendronach Cask Strength batch 2 or batch 3; or an old revival from 2014 or 2015. Boy, now I really am thirsty! Slainte!
