That is so cool. I should talk to the OFAH about lobbying the Ontario government to legalize spear fishing (who knows... someone might actually listen).
Awesome! We use 7mm open cells and they are more than enough. The water here was about 10-12c and we had no problem staying in for 6-8 hours/day with the 7mm
I just got a speargun for Christmas and my family has a cabin in the meadow lake park with crystal clear water I can’t wait to try it for the first time. How early in the season do you start? The waters always cold but I’m sure the suits help a lot
That's awesome! Meadow Lake park is a beautiful area. Was up there in the spring spearing. Although not too many lakes clear enough unfortunately. There is one with great vis and decent fishing. Let me know when you go and I'll give you the details! I start as soon as the Ice melts! This fall I was spearfishing at home lake until a couple days before it was covered in ice last month. To really effectively spear here in Sask, a good wetsuit definitely makes all the difference
Awesome stuff guys!! I spear a little in sask too and it can be hard to find that clear water sometimes. Great shots, beautiful fish. Which guns/gun lengths do you guys prefer?
Thanks! The gems were great and we stopped at whiteswan for a quick dive and the vis was even better!! I use a Rob Allen Tuna 80cm. Honestly for Saskatchewan, I wish I had gone with the 70cm but the 80 is great. RA Spears have a decent amount of overhang so it adds a bit more length to it. My buddy uses a beautiful roller that he made!
@@jordanfehr6713 yeah ok sweet! Hopefully I get a chance this year to check out those lakes. I got the classic jbl explorer22 and yeah. Find it a bit long once it gets murky. Great power tho. Haha.
@@Mikethi21Sweet! I used to use a JBL explorer but just found with no rail and basically no overhang, they were just a bit too tough to be consistently accurate. The gems are great although each lake has completely different fishing. Some lakes have no fish, some have tons. Give me a shout when you go and I'll give you the details!
@@jordanfehr6713 yeah that is fair. The rail would be nice to have for sure. But yeah thanks! I'll do that in summer yeah. Hopefully get a chance to go. Haven't speared trout before.
Maybe reconsider your spearfishing locations or species. The literal "Gem Lakes" are not very productive and hold very few old trophy fish. Those fish are often caught and released by several people. I've personally caught and released trophy fish in those lakes and seen others enjoy those same fish a couple of times in the last few years. Just a suggestion... but... just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.
Definitely a good thing to consider but jade and sapphire actually have a very healthy trout population! There's a few lakes in Sask that people consider to be dead but actually hold a ton of fish. The fish just get smart to angling tactics or have an abundant food source. Just because they are not getting caught, doesn't mean they are not there in numbers!
you know that the few big fish are actually keeping all the other fishes from living. killing a single big fish is giving live to tens of medium one, hundreds of small and thousands of baby fish.
I stumble across rhis and this makes me sick. Please tell me how killing these fish promotes this beautiful part of the world. But you dont care because you got a video. How many go to these lakes to catch and RELEASE as a sport. This should be, if not already, illegal.
Was just out spearfishing this lake a week ago. There are some MONSTER fish in this lake. Tonnes of fish is jade, beautiful lake just to dive

What wet suits are you wearing? Thickness? Etc
Love it. What mil suit you wearing?

My favorite spot in sask. Great video!
Such a beautiful area!

@@jordanfehr6713 that’s awesome thanks. Glad I found your channel!
