I like to think that, while it's of course also fear and discomfort from the situation, the reason the "King Engine" went that hard in this scene was because there was also genuine anger in King
With Saitama in eyesight i'm sure King also felt extra bolstered by that, increasing his confidence against Amai Mask knowing Saitama wouldn't let anything happen here

You misunderstand, they see the pained terrified expression on his face but it’s not fear of being killed, it’s fear of what he must do if he has to pulverise another hero. It is in this that King is not only the most powerful but has the biggest heart.

king is the best example of the power of intimidation, even some of the weakest monsters could win against him, yet even some of the strongest stand around doing nothing because they're intimidated by him.
The pen is indeed mightier than the sword, and the mind even more than raw strength, for if one has merely power yet no mind to use it, and even still if one has mind but no power to use it with, then what good will it do any who have mastered either and not both?
King's actually just one of the best characters in the series; He's powerless, utterly normal, but through simply being there, where it is THE MOST DANGEROUS FOR HIM, allows him to accomplish the greatest feats. It's actually a pretty neat message about the concept of heroism, or doing the right thing. You can get stuff done, even if you aren't special, by simply *being there*, and doing the right thing, despite what fear you have.

I agree, though I kinda feel like King has always been a sort of "So cowardly he's brave" character. He's so good at hiding the fact he's scared in the face of danger to the point it looks like he's completely unfazed and I love that about him.
Spiderman wears a mask so his villans dont see how scared he is. The banter and jokes and insults are part of it too

if you like KING you can read ANGEL DENSETSU the main character is believed to be strong but he actually weak he just have a scary face and some misunderstand
Actually the MC is really strong, he just doesnt like to hurt people intentionally. That and he himself also moderate situations just as badly as the other characters.

The fact that king is powerless yet exudes his own status and bodily features as a means to invoke fear says magnitudes. In retrospect his hero status may be false, but his righteousness even at the cost of his life in this moment makes him S class. Because he isn't corrupt. He knows from Saitama and his past and experience with Saitama what being a hero is.

How do they create so many great characters, not many mangas can pull off so many awesome likeable characters.
I know right? Even King (that is like a Mr Satan) is very awesome, in the beginning I didn't like him because he took Saitama's credit. But turns out he really is a nice guy, has become very good friends with Saitama and even has tried to come clean about everything... but no one believes him 🥲.

ONE isnt a great artist, but they're an amazing writer. The story is so good and all the characters are ICONIC.

Awesome work dude, this is really a fantastic animation. The sound is just a blast
I dunno which is better. This entire sequence or the original web comic. This one sort of rounds out King's character and reinforces his status as the guy who picks his fights when he can. I mean, he's holding a decimated and barely alive rank 2 S-class safe in his arms, and basically telling everyone to shut the hell up because a kid is watching. And King he knows Amai Mask would be extra careful around children since he's all about keeping up his image. It's a perfect King moment. But they basically turned Garou's entire speech and MO and Saitama's subsequent dismissal of it into a joke.
I honestly can't think of a better response in any show or story or movie other than Garou going through all that interrogation of why Saitama is a hero. Then One bothers to draw a frame by frame of Saitama picking his nose and saying "It's a hobby". Garou's busted up hole face look after that tied it all together. I doubt either one could be superior, but the web comic version completely defines Satiama.

The best edits and animations are the ones that highlight how terrifying King seems to everyone else. He legit comes across as if he has godlike power, the king engine as a concept is one of the funniest things ever written.
I like that he wasn't only scared here - he was actually *pissed.* They were gonna execute a child's father(uncle?)-figure right in front of him. Even a coward like King will switch up when something so dark is about to happen to someone so innocent
A King is not required to fight his battles, He only needs to COMMAND.

I think that unbeknownst to him, he is one of the most powerful people in the universe. Not necessarily strength-wise, because one can think if he got in a truly friendly fight where there was no hostility behind it and nothing but sparring of the lightest caliber (to an S-class hero) he would not win. Except, of course, if his luck and presence applies even there. With his level of "attributed skill", he could possibly win a sparring match merely by pointing out false openings... and his opponents "learn" by merely being told by King that he sees an opening. Much in the way of how Homeless Emperor took King's words to heart and feared for his life (before the "A normal human"). They think he sees everything and as such even a sparring match would be over before it even begins.
Still, I am inclined to believe that King is far more powerful than he thinks. If for nothing else he has a powerful heart and reactions rivaling top tier fighters. He saw Garou coming, recognized that he did not know him (as such not a Monster to them) and can battle Saitama in games. There's more to him than meets the eye.. but that is not me saying that Ultimate Burst Hellfire Wave Cannon is a legitimate thing of his. Though we'll never know. For all we know he actually is as powerful as others thinks he is, but has found much more entertainment in watching thing go to the very end before acting. However he DID seemingly let people die when the Machine attacked him and he went to take a piss to fight "optimally". So it stands to reason that his power is not fighting.

I like kings chess theory and that his real power is to subconsciously play chess with the hero’s around him. Which is why he gets all the credit. He’s pulling strings of fate to summon people like saitama. It’s just a theory but worth watching the video on it.

He beat them all up and left them to intensive care, but he never kept beating on them until they were dead.
While the "heroes" were always trying to land a killing blow on him, Garou just fought them with meticulous self control to ensure he would not kill any of them.
Its only after God takes him over that he actually starts killing.
However, that was reversed by Saitama's zero causality punch.
How do you justify "heroes" preforming a public killing on somebody who's not guilty of any murders?
Sure he beat them up badly, but there was still no permanent damage done, everyone is alive to tell the tale.

It is stated what King has the most strongest observation and king haki. God of OPM had to rewrite manga, because he was scared to have encounter with King. He is also the most strongest sorcerer as he could summon Saitama, who has limitless power (little weaker than King, but still strong). If he would like to, he would get all dragon balls, stop the greatest Ninja war and find One Piece in about 1 week or less.
