The BeoCenter 2 DAB digital radio module gives customers access to high-quality terrestrial free-to-air audio and data broadcasts. A network of terrestrial transmitters is used in DAB digital radio, a new kind of radio transmission. More options, greater sound quality, and information are offered to listeners. Compared to analog radio, DAB digital radio is significantly superior. The module will be a standard feature of BeoCenter 2 in the UK when it becomes released, which is on 3 November 2004.
Both the Master Unit and the Socket Unit had to be updated in order to make the module compliant. However, this means that previous and current BeoCenter 2 models will not support DAB. When BeoCenter 2 first came out, it was promised that users could 'upgrade' to DAB. Bang & Olufsen will uphold that pledge in cases where clients acquired the model under that stipulation. 18139286 is the first Master Unit serial number with software compatible with DAB capability.
Master unit connections: PowerLink x 1, MasterLink x 1, Digital Out, SCART, S-VHS, FM Aerial, AM Aerial, audio in (L&R), and audio out (L&R).
BeoCenter 2 opens to receive your desired media when you press the 'load' button on the anodized aluminum top panel. The Master Unit (or Media Unit, which is the player itself) and the Socket Unit are the two components that make up the device, and they are connected by a unique cable.

Hi there, is there anything different between version 3 and 2 of the socket unit? Were there ever any DAB+ modules made for these? Thanks!

Good question. There are no different between the modules. I have only seen different displays on the Beocenter 2 ( Head Unit). Also there are 2 versions for the box. With DAB and DAB+. The DAB + version is very hard to find in the market.

@@KoseTrading Thanks for the reply! I did some more research and read on the BeoZone website that it was the Audio only version with no scart socket in the last year of production (2010) that had the dab+ tuner
