Agreed. Lego designer don’t give an F. They just stuck a Darth Maul figure in the set, giving no regards to which iteration of Maul should have been included. Especially considering that it is the Phantom Menace is anniversary this year. I’m surprised someone at Disney/Star Wars approved this set design.

Darth Maul's eyes were changed to be consistent with the modern LEGO coloured eyes they've been using for a decade now. They've used them across many themes and characters (Marvel, SW, Dune, etc), so it only made sense to update the Sith to be a consistent style

The size of the infiltrator is a piss take, sick of these tiny ships costing more than the bigger ships of the past, and not to mention the lack of figures, even if they just threw a watto in with the set it would make me a lot happier but for the price compared to the tantive I would’ve really wanted Padme, obi wan and captain panaka as well, but Lego clearly just half arsed it because they finally made saw gerrara, great figure granted but still not good enough, the extra fig is supposed to be a bonus! Not an excuse to cut corners on a set this drastically

@@dynestis2875 fr, and brix studios really tried saying the 2011 set is less value. However the only reason it has less pieces is because it's hollow on the inside, but the new one is mostly filled. This set is a big disappointment for me, the entirety of the 25 anniversary for phantom menace is a disappointment and I don't have hope for the anniversary for the revenge of sith as they might miss the mark like with phantom menace and attack of the clones
The color of Saw Gererra is way better in real life then what it looked liked in the pictures. I was worried it would be too bright but the green actually looks super nice.
I really like this set! $70 is a bit too much, it should have been $50-55. However it has a great minifigures (that Saw Gerrera is excellent) and the ship itself has a fun play features and nice design. Btw David, it's great to see you again on camera during the introduction and opinion segment in your reviews.

Ngl I prefer the lack of black pupils with Maul. I always thought it made him and Palpatine look uncanny compared to normal figures. With these eyes it looks more “lego-like” to me
a lot of the people in this community for some are obsessed with minifigures looking as accurate or realistic as possible instead of actually matching the lego aesthetic, to the point that they turn to customs and fakes that are way too overloaded with detail for a 2 inch figure... i'll never understand it

This set is awesome! I had the original from 1999, but this is a big step up. Always good to get a Darth Maul minifigure! They even have the double red lighsaber even if the scene in the movie didn't have that.

Initially wasn't too happy with the look of the ship on the leaked photos but after your review I changed my mind, definitely looks super detailed and the techniques look fun too, can't wait to build it. Biggest downside for me is lack of 4th figure (excluding Saw), Padme or perhaps some one-off character from Ep.1 would fit perfectly here

I had the original 1999 Sith Infiltrator, my first Bigger Lego Star Wars sets, can't wait to Expand this a little & include the Printed pieces on this from the "99 set. GREAT VIDEO!!!
I own the 2011 version of this ship and I’ll say without having this new one in my hands, I think it would have been better to have something between this scale and the 2011 set. Although I do definitely have my issues with that older larger design. It’s a very clean and well detailed looking set.

We need more prequel sets to incorporate battle of feonosis and phantom menace. I missed out a lot on that and picked up Lego during the clone wars. I want more of that classic vibe again

@@nihili4196 nah it’s not close. I don’t think you realise how big ships are in the Star Wars universe, think of them like fancy yachts ig maybe haha. They need to have space for people to actually get in and move around all the rooms comfortably. It shouldn’t be crammed and a tight fit just for one minfigure like it’s an escape pod. The Scrimtar is supposed to be 27 meters long so should be lengthwise 15 Darth Mauls across (weird measurement ik lmao). This one is about 7 Darth Mauls long so it’s around half the length it should be so the bigger previous ones were much closer in scale. Generally the closest you get to accurate scale are typically UCS sets if they’re not oversizing everything. But a good example to how much bigger things should generally be is the T6 shuttle. Look at the set and then look at custom ones people are making to more accurately represent the size. It’s massive
I’m gonna pick this up along side the Death Star playeset to make a Fallen Order diorama with Saw Guerra, Cal Kestis, a couple rebels fight off troopers
I have the 2015/16 set and its definitely more accurate while still being decent value because most of the pieces are big, but I really like this one for the more fine detail and play value this has. While you can fit 3+ minifigs in the 2016, you have to store the bike in the front, whereas this one he can sit on it in the cockpit. And there's no other characters that go in the cockpit anyway. Plus, this one is smaller and more easily swooshed. For $70, it's not a great value, but it is $20 less that the previous version while retaining all of the play features.
I actually like the set overall, I wish Maul came with the new hood piece and a cape as that is how he was depicted in this skirmish with Quigon. This is a good option though for me as I wasn’t able to buy the 2007 set when it was at retail and this was always one of my favorite ship designs from the prequel trilogy.
I like this set! I missed out on all the other sith infiltrators and I was bussing about another one coming out! However I agree it is 10 or 5 over price, a padme minifigure would have made up for that price 😁
David, I’d love to see a video where you talk about what you think makes a Good or Great LEGO set versus a disappointing set. What gets you the best value? As someone who can only get a few LEGO sets at a time, I find myself always going for the $200-$400 LEGO sets to get my moneys worth. Maybe you could include some examples from previous or recent LEGO sets. If that is something you think you could talk about, I would love to hear your thoughts

It barely matters how many pieces are in the set when most of the pieces are small. I would always prefer less quantity but bigger size pieces to what we mostly have nowadays.

A set like this would be £40 10 years ago (it's £60 here). The price hikes with Lego Star Wars have been insane.

I am surprised that saw is in dark green and not in light green as it was on the photos, but I am glad I was wrong about it being light green.
I think it's the best Sith Infiltrator, with the 2007 one in close second. Love the scale, and detail. Looks really sleek and accurate.

While you can fit 3+ minifigs in the 2016, you have to store the bike in the front, whereas this one he can sit on it in the cockpit. And there's no other characters that go in the cockpit anyway. Plus, this one is smaller and more easily swooshed. For $70, it's not a great value, but it is $20 less that the previous version while retaining all of the play features.
I actually like the set overall, I wish Maul came with the new hood piece and a cape as that is how he was depicted in this skirmish with Quigon. This is a good option though for me as I wasn’t able to buy the 2007 set when it was at retail and this was always one of my favorite ship designs from the prequel trilogy.
I like this set! I missed out on all the other sith infiltrators and I was bussing about another one coming out! However I agree it is 10 or 5 over price, a padme minifigure would have made up for that price 😁
David, I’d love to see a video where you talk about what you think makes a Good or Great LEGO set versus a disappointing set. What gets you the best value? As someone who can only get a few LEGO sets at a time, I find myself always going for the $200-$400 LEGO sets to get my moneys worth. Maybe you could include some examples from previous or recent LEGO sets. If that is something you think you could talk about, I would love to hear your thoughts

2007 Infiltrator was the perfect version. Except it didn't come with Qui-Gon :(

I wonder if this is the most "number of sets to seconds of screen time" ratio we've ever had for a Star Wars vehicle.
It barely matters how many pieces are in the set when most of the pieces are small. I would always prefer less quantity but bigger size pieces to what we mostly have nowadays.
It’s honestly an amazing set but it’s so sad how expensive Lego has gotten over the years along with everything else 😂
