It's cheesy, it's goofy, it's even a little silly, but it has a simple charm. And who doesn't love the fact the smartest Martian is the pilot doing the Jack Nicholson impression. It's budget was so small, almost all the actors and crew worked for free as a favor to the director who had been trying to get the movie made for years. That says a lot.
Far out spaced invaders is correct. I remember seeing this once before and enjoyed its wackiness and now enjoyed it again. A good, fun movie. Thanks for the posting. Joe S

This is THE funniest alien invasion movie ever! (probably the only funny alien invasion movie, unless, maybe, you count _Earth Girls Are Easy.)_ I would fall out of my chair laughing. Very clever plot, and pretty good acting, especially young Ariana (pre-Jurassic Park) Richards.
Being so close, it would be ridiculously easy to see their ships and supposedly having a fleet all over…these guys should have known that group didn’t go next door when another system is so far away and they’re in just a shuttle.
How are the effects in this movie so much better than modern day sci-fi channel effects. Movies made by the syfy channel are some of the worst effects I've ever seen.

I miss this movie it was one of my favorite Halloween theme movies as a kid. They don't make kid-friendly halloween movies like this anymore.
