Great support from Thorney with the car I purchased, they not only care about the cars but the customers, which is refreshing 👍 I’ve also found buying other bits from you guys such as wheel caps and badges is very reasonable, and cheaper than many places I’ve looked at. Keep up the great McLaren videos, some workshop videos would be really interesting to see.
I had a 570S for six years. The driving experience was second to none but the ownership experience was pretty poor, lots of replacement parts, paint every year, we go up to seven doors in the end. Everything was done under warranty but Birmingham got increasingly difficult to deal with as the car got older they grumbled more and more about warranty and paint, started charging me for transport. I think the intelligent way to own one is to buy one second hand from you, thanks for the videos. Great car, I'm delighted there is now a sensible way to own one.
As someone looking to buy (and also a fan of numbers/ scientist) this video is brilliant and really shows off Thorney. Just makes me want to get on and buy all the sooner :)
I had new springs for 570 Spyder and can confirm it’s transformed the cars performance on track (along with steering geo). Now into 6.5 years and 15,000 miles of happy ownership and she is still in my “keeper” file 👍. Thank you Thorney Motorsport 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love this. I can't stand the bad rep Mclaren cars have gotten over the years. Thorny goes above and beyond to prove that these super cars aren't what social media paints them out to be. They are amazing cars and the haters can keep crying and hating. Thorny once again proves that these vehicles are a wonderful machine and isn't afraid to take on the sheep hive mind mentality. Because of Thorny my first supercar purchase is going to be a Mclaren. Thorny keep doing what your doing you are making a difference in all you do!!!!!!
Love what you’re doing here. First came across TM through Jayemm. I used to want a 458 spider in black after a test drive, but driving back to back with a 570S on an experience day, the 570 was just miles ahead.😂

Lots of mentions about paintwork, which is both accurate and informative - but no mention of door hinges (notably on the 570). Personally I wasn’t shocked by paint issues and the challenge of matching, but I had a jaw drop moment when Tom told me I had two cracked door hinges and how increasingly common this is. A door hinge is NOT a wear part! Still a great car, just not built by Germans 😉
@@Power_Pistes_and_Paddling I think I do mention hinges, I refer to one of the other videos we've done on the subject. But good point, we replaced 18 door hinges last year
Its difficult, we need a ramp and 4 hours to do a full inspection and we found sometimes this was not available so a waste of time. Most proper dealers will allow us to inspect here, if they dont then ask yourself why not.
Hi John, love your work- these videos are very informative and I appreciate your advice. Am looking at a Volcano Yellow 650 Spider (here in NZ) so I'm grateful for your thoughts about the difficulty/cost of colour matching and servicing issue trends. I think McLarens are very undervalued and frankly a bargain for what you get. The Company I work for owns the original McLaren family garage in Remuera. We are going to restore that, turn it into a place where Jan McLaren can show Bruce's memorabilia and will probably put some apartments above it as part of the development. Just one thing, can you please not talk so fast...(Cue jokes about me not speaking 'proper' english) Look forward to seeing more of your videos- thanks
I drove a Ferrari 458 on a test drive but several years later did an experience day back to back with a 570S. The 570 was just miles better, like two generations newer. And they’re now half the price. And I love the glass roof and extra space of a GT.
Would you guys consider exporting cars to Ireland? Believe it or not there is not a single used McLaren for sale here at the moment. Great video by the way keep them coming.

Once the impacted panels are repainted will the corrosion come back? I hear mixed responses about this. Also, good to hear the engine issues were predominantly tuned cars.
Correct, all of our dealers offer the same service we offer here with our full technical support. Charlotte have some great guys there and will do all you need.
Given McLaren have stopped selling the 5 series how will that impact your business in the future and doesn’t it seem like a strange decision from McLaren to abandon that market?

@@PaintProtectionPro they made more sports series than any other model so it's not surprising we see more of them but we have a reasonably even spread of servicing work that reflects build numbers, so 5 years ago it was all 12c and now 15% is 720s which reflects the sales output. Over time as they stop being produced owners tend to look for independent servicing anyway as dealers are more expensive and owners don't feel as locked into the dealer market so I don't see a degradation of work more like the opposite. However like all things if they stop making them then there will be less of them so on a long term basis that proportion of the car park will drop, but it's simply replaced with other models. We are seeing the first 750s come to us now as well as some Arturas and we look after a dozen or so 765s so it's just a progression. Commercially I've always found that if you make the owner the central point of your decision making the market size will follow that regardless of model.

Obviously a genuine place to visit if one is fortunate to purchase any McLaren vehicle, perhaps one day, for me it’s a late 12C coupe….👍

I'm sure you are taking a huge headache out of customers heads eith your knowledge and expertise.
Not sure about the accumulators though. On 3rd Mclaren and both the first ones needed them after 3 years. Seems about right when talking to owners.
Certainly not in our experience, after 3 years I'd be investigating why.

@@wheelsandwatches generally no, once done the area is sorted but it can pop up elsewhere on the panel so we tend to do the whole thing anyway
