Sorry this video wasn't quite up to snuff folks, I had like 45 minutes to make it lol. Didn't get to play beforehand more than 1-2 runs. One of those days, still they've got something big on their hands here this game is rad. I fixed the description. If you want to see me actually get gud I played for 4 hours on stream and beat most of the current content.
Played for 6 hours got to day 67.. going past the mission and advancing days does not provide any additional exp / rewards in the play test. Just an fyi 👍it’s been fun testing everything out so far.
Classic Splat, recognizes the need to prioritize blocks, gets a radar to help him dig optimum paths...chooses to dig out every block anyway, even as lava fills the cavern...
Like many dudes out there... dumb decisions that brings down the whole gameplay experience. Thumbs up. NOte : that he kills his haulers (blocked pathfinding) instead of taking care of respawning blocks...
Still hadn't figured it out even when his miners had to dig their way out. There's streamer brain, then there's splattercat brain. Thank goodness he's charismatic! :)
The fact that the weakening laser switches targets on its own after it weakens one enemy is fantastic, rather than the typical 'the affix turret will continue on one target until it's dead' setup I'm used to with these games.
splat i like how you thought they were bugged then 3 secs later you had your miner unblock the entrance they just couldnt path down because there was no path
- you got the option to get the red ore production technology as your first choice but you decided not to get it and chose a different tech instead - your haulers couldn't reach the ore lying on the floor since the exit was blocked, you wasted 2 iron by killing them - you can pause the game at any time so use radar ping an pause the game then mark the resources revealed by radar ping, there is limited number of orders so first mark the closest bunch and next day mark the next one
@@kimbosan1 For the record, I think this is better than dome keeper :-). Creating a buffer is a pretty nice way to make you feel like you're progressing.
Started watching you again. I used to watch you all the way back in middle school. Has been really helpful on getting me into new games lately. Love your content and glad to see you going strong still.
Splat: "Why the haulers didn't go down, is it the bug?" Technically, Splat, it's the "bug web" blocking the entrance. And you fired employees with out recognizing that roadblock, classic workforce management.
something weird with the miner pathing. They drill out 1 block then stop and go to the other side of the screen to drill 1 block then switch sides again over and over. That's wasting so much time, why are they pathing like that?
Can you imagine how ghastly the platform would get being spattered with giant bug viscera night after night? It's a good thing that the crew has jetpacks; because there's no other way they are going to be able to move when the floor is neck-deep in shattered chitin and that weird internal juice that bugs are full of.
Deep Rock Galactic is about to have a mission type similar to this. You go down on a drill elevator, bugs attack from above. Blood and gore rains down. You reach the bottom, do the thing, grab jetboots and fly back up
Ok now I am back. I paused the video after 10 minutes watching, downloaded the game and played for an hour and did the survey. Now I am back to watch you play :D
I've played quite a few of these desperate mining run games and have gotten so used to the mining part going so much faster or at least having numerous ways to increase your mining speed.
you made me play it. TBH is kinda fun, sort of dome keeper meets the wall with a smidge of drg thrown in. is a little tough till you start finding and upgrading poison turrets, after that it's pretty easy. Like the upgrades bit in menu too..
Hey Splat this looks really cool. Reminds me of Dome Keeper with tower defense elements which I like more. Wishlisted and I'll buy it once it comes out.
It should be noted that the devs that are making this game made another game called Black Skylands, and it's rather good. It also had the same bug creatures, so I can only assume the two are related.
yeah I love point and click games where you have minions to work for you. These types of games are great for when you're tired af and just want to veg out and play one handed lol.
We canno't overlook the importance of the couple creator of Dome Keeper in some recent indie release, a bit like vampire survivors ! I hope the creator of Drill core will recognize where they get their inspiration. It's the same assignment but deliver differently. I play the Demo and it's really fun! I think they succeed more in a way as it feel less of a core to collect materials than Dome Keeper with enemies, spawning and also that you have to dig deeper recreating a new digging area. There some turret that are really not that great I found (looking at you poison turret), so need some balancing in that regard.
@Splattercatgaming You should build the research building (the one with the big brain) there you can upgrade your people like faster mining or more health. And when you build a second recruitment Center (there where you buy new people) you increase your maximum of how many people you can have at once.
@@Justupid-cf9iq It is pretty helpful because with a second recruitment Center you can have up to 10 people. This makes mining way quicker. My first thought was it reminds me of Wall World but Dome Keeper fits too.
Typical Splattercat. Doesn't pay attention to the entrance being filled in by blocks, instead kills off hauler instead of looking to see why they were not hauling. Then complains about haulers bugging out. They didn't bug out at all, the blocks filled in the entrance to the rig and they couldn't get down!
I played the demo and it was surprisingly has a fun gameplay loop. My only complaint was the people died too easily and the bug inside the cave came too often and took too long to kill. It’s not so fun when my only yields for the day was all used to recruit all my employees and repeat it for the next day. There will be an occasion where I didn’t have any resource to spawn any worker and Im basically doomed even with maxed out defenses
also the reason the haulers are not hauling is because the web block out their exit, those web like rocks should be taken care off before they spread and block your little guys
The haulers get mad when you say that the drillers are the rockstars. Everybody does their part. The drillers are nothing without the rest of the team. Let's be fair.
Did it seem like the diggers kept moving from one side to another? Like, perhaps they were wanting to dig the same block and kept moving to the next as a group until one got to it and so on.
Sorry this video wasn't quite up to snuff folks, I had like 45 minutes to make it lol. Didn't get to play beforehand more than 1-2 runs. Up to snuff? 2.8k likes 30 dislikes, you fine Splatt, video was great. Just some bants in the comments by the looks :)
I didn’t think there was anything "not up to snuff."
Played for 6 hours got to day 67.. going past the mission and advancing days does not provide any additional exp / rewards in the play test. Just an fyi 👍it’s been fun testing everything out so far.
Making mistakes just encourages comments and feeds the algorithm. So realistically this was perfect :D
Same stellar quality as always from what I can tell?
Just two minutes in this video, i don't know if i should shout 'Rock n' Stone' or 'For Democracy'.
ROCK AND STONE!
Rock Democracy!
Always Rock and Stone!!!!
For demrockracy and stone!
You need to take a sip of Liber Tea!
Classic Splat, recognizes the need to prioritize blocks, gets a radar to help him dig optimum paths...chooses to dig out every block anyway, even as lava fills the cavern...
Yea, tactical pause during the radar ping so you can mark all the important areas to go for seems like what you should do with the radar.
See pinned comment for getting gud.
Cut the homey some slack.
Like many dudes out there... dumb decisions that brings down the whole gameplay experience. Thumbs up. NOte : that he kills his haulers (blocked pathfinding) instead of taking care of respawning blocks...
Your haulers could not go down because the webbing had blocked the cave.
Almost had me yelling through the screen

@@michaelkreitzer1369 That, no joke, made me lose some hope in humanity
Poor haulers got killed for nothing...

Very obvious inspiration, but different enough to be considered wholly unique in it's own right, looks like a good game
i like how dome keeper has just up and spawned a new genre of gaming...
This kinda is a 2d version of deep rock galactic.
@@CesarinPillinGaming I thought it had to be from the people who made wall world.

FYI, there is a Steam page for this game. I don't know when it went up but it was there when this video went out. Already wishlisted it.
"I need to focus on red stuff"
*clicks every none-yield block in sight*
That's a lot like Dome Keeper I feel.
Certainly. But with enough of a twist to be interesting I think ...
Looks like dome keeper created new subgenre - seen a lot of similar games with mine-defend game loop. Good for them!
@@kimbosan1 For the record, I think this is better than dome keeper :-). Creating a buffer is a pretty nice way to make you feel like you're progressing.
3 minutes in, I already love the concept, a mix of DRG, TD and colony builder with an indirectly controlled squad

Mining and upgrades. This game was made specifically for me. As someone once said ‘you love to see it’.
The tactical pause means this would be playable with a controller, even without it being supported. Neat!

I was like "Oh a Helldivers/Deep Rock Galactic like" then I was like "IT'S A STRATEGY GAME?! DAMN THAT'S COOL!"
At the end, the haulers couldn't go down because the path was blocked, the miners had to drill their way out.
Yeah that was painful to watch wasn't it haha
One of thosse classic Splattercat videos where you just want to shout through the screen :)
Splat wonders why the haulers aren't hauling even while he's working to clear the webs out of the only way in or out of the mine...
As a group of seagulls once famously said, "Mine. Mine. Mine. Mine."
There was nothing wrong with your haulers. You failed to notice they'd been blocked off from going down below by the 'web' blocks as you called them.
"There was nothing wrong with your haulers"
well, one of them drunks a bit too much
Yes! Really looking forward to this one. Thanks Splat!! Another Gem!
Was about to sigh and go "not another one". But happy to see it's strategy/base building. It became infinitely more interesting.
I've played quite a few of these desperate mining run games and have gotten so used to the mining part going so much faster or at least having numerous ways to increase your mining speed.
I like these types of games. I'm giving it a try right now, thanks, Splat.
The weakening laser is helpening! Game looks very fun. Love the content
“It was so satisfying I had to make the sounds with my mouth” 😂
Single player management version of DRG. Looks cool.
I was thinking management version of dome keeper
theres nothing in common with that game and dwarves digging way precedes drg
thats like saying "This Neo guy is like john wick from fortnite"

That screen distortion effect is very nostalgic. Old TV.
The reason the haulers didn't go in is because the path was blocked.

Basically it's a redux of Dome Keeper. One detail; It needs to be possible to repair the core, restore its hit points.

Ooh, i like the aesthetics of this one; sign me up!
just a tip, at the start of the game build 2 machine gun and spam the smelter until its maxed out then you can do what you want
also the reason the haulers are not hauling is because the web block out their exit, those web like rocks should be taken care off before they spread and block your little guys

I really like these kinda games, but only if they have an active pause. I didn't notice him doing this or notice it mentioned but i missed a lot.
He said there was a tactical pause, didn't say whether it was active or not.
I expected the turrets to stay where they are and new slots to open up. Seems weird brining the walls down with you.
