    Congrats! I heard a really good pierce of advice recently on transitioning from one child to two. This mom explained how having one child they get so used to being the only child and having all of your attention and to prevent jealousy etc the same way you tell your toddler to “hold on one moment the baby needs me” to also say out loud to your baby “hold on one moment *toddler’s name* needs me”
    Obviously the baby doesn’t understand or wasn’t even crying for you but this might help the toddler feel she is also still important and help with preventing that resentment.

      Yes! We do this with our four year old. Our young one is one now and we’ll even sit him in our lap for a 30 second time out when he does something we wouldn’t let our oldest do.
      It’s seems like our oldest really appreciates it ❤️

    So happy for you! I’m due right before you with our third. I’m also a person of faith and there’s something that I feel like is profound with timing. For women, you have one chance at your contribution to the baby’s genes for that month (in most cases, only one egg matures). To me, that makes timing so important. A big part of your child’s makeup and even personality depend on the timing. So the child you have wouldn’t be the same if you got pregnant the month before. If you believe in God and His purposes, it’s encouraging to know. I hope that makes sense. Blessings to your family❤️

    I had PPD after my daughter was born and started Zoloft. I was on it when my son was born because we knew that I was probably going to have the same issue again. The difference in my postpartum experiences was astounding to me. Part of that was being an experienced parent but I think the bigger part was having my depression managed. I'm glad to see that you are addressing that because the difference can be astounding

    • @veronicalee3831

    • @x.Kristen.x
      @x.Kristen.x 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Same with me also. The difference Zoloft made was amazing. My 1st pregnancy was great as far as physically but mentally it was horrible. I went on Zoloft after having my 1st and when I got pregnant with my 2nd I stayed on it. Completely different pregnancies mentally. I felt as if I could actually enjoy my pregnancy and my baby after birth. With my 1st I didn’t take pictures, I didn’t do anything at all. I didn’t want to do anything but sleep. With my 2nd I felt so guilty because I did a belly cast, pictures, gender reveal, baby shower just all the things. I still feel kinda guilty because my 1st is now 7 and she sees my belly cast from her sister and it just makes me feel so bad but I’m glad I went on medication for both my kids and myself. Medication is a lifesaver ❤️

      Same. PPD is the reason I won’t have a 3rd baby. It was so bad after my 2nd, however, it was partially my own fault because I waited so long to go on meds. So anyone else reading this: don’t wait! Don’t try to be a hero like me and power through. I wasted so much time.

  • @mkim3280
    @mkim3280 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Congratulations!!!! I’m so happy for you 3... these are the best sleepless times.I have all the confidence you will get through it. As a psychologist, I recommend you wait a little bit for your hormones to settle to be sure about medications, as every pregnancy, birth, child health is different. You could consult with a PPD specialty psychiatrist and see what their recommendation is. Be firm about needing answers about statistics on BF and baby’s future to make a well informed decision. Re: Vlogmas, can’t wait and I love Tyler’s cooking, home projects, and one time Pinocchio had a stand-off at the door with a stick. That really really cracked me up, very original true down to earth content. Can’t wait!

      I am sure the particular Rx matters, but I was able to remain on my antidepressant (Zoloft) throughout the entirety of my pregnancy. My psychiatrist assessed that the benefits outweighed the possibility of risk *for me*. Us mothers are so much more capable of providing for the needs of our children when our needs and welfare are being properly addressed.

      @@At0micAllison - agree 100%! With any med during pregnancy, it is a risk/benefit analysis. But, many of the SSRI’s (like Zoloft) are considered safe options with pregnancy and breastfeeding). Incidentally, I am a Certified Nurse-midwife (an advanced-practice nurse that delivers babies and provides prenatal/postpartum care, and GYN care among other things).

    Best advice from going from 1 child to 2:. Always let your toddler be "involved" as much as she wants to be. My oldest kids always loved "helping" mommy with their baby brother or sister. They would throw diapers away, help me feed (I didn't breastfeed my four), help me pick out their outfits, etc. This makes the toddler feel important and needed, while still devoting time your time to them and the baby (at the same time).

I am totally here for all the pregnancy related videos like how you found out, how you told Tyler, symptoms, nursery prep and all the things. Or you know as much as your willing to share of course. As for Vlogmas I can’t wait, I have actually been rewatching last years at the moment whilst I wait for December 😂 Again I am so happy for you guys and I will be praying for a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby.

    With regards to PPD and PPA, I truly recommend starting the medication about two months before baby. Then your body has time to adjust to the medication and it helps catch the PPD a little earlier. Since you had it before you’ll recognize the signs a little earlier, remember you’re not alone in this! 💜💜💜

    I had an experience w PPD myself after my second. Manic. I was so lost. When I found out I was pregnant w baby #3, knowing how hard that pp season could be, I went on Zoloft while I was pregnant as soon as I noticed myself sort of bottoming out. That made such a difference. I also chose not to breast feed, because that had a direct effect on my mental health. Five months Pp now and I can say, maybe because I’m not a newbie, but I’m convinced this is my best Pp experience. Baby number 3 I feel like fixed me.

I felt like I was able to enjoy the time with my oldest before our youngest was born. Being on the medication allowed me to notice things weren’t right as the psychosis was setting in. CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm glad you found a new doctor that you're comfortable with. That's super important. Each pregnancy is so different, just like each child, so it's hard to say about taking the antidepressants preventatively. I personally did have increasing symptoms with each pregnancy. But oddly, knowing that it's a possibility somehow made it easier to deal with, without medicine. Each person is so different. I suggest praying about it and God will lead you in the right direction...always 😊.

    Congrats!!! I have to share I had worse PPD with my first due to the unknowns and separation from NICU as well. I just had my second and it has been 100% better. Barely any PPD or emotional rollercoasters bc I knew what to expect, baby was with me the whole time (no NICU time) and even recovering has been much easier on me. So yes, it will be a calmer experience for you since you know what you expect AND you can advocate for yourself to get questions answered etc this time around. Remember to accept the help after baby is here to get sleep, shower etc. Sleep is crucial to a healthy mind-I was all too reminded with a second kid how much that factors into your well-being. Big hugs, and congrats again! So happy for you guys!!!

And it's funny because Jess talks about progesterone here. We were put on progesterone interventions for early pregnancy and I'm convinced it worked for me and helped me keep my 4th pregnancy. Congrats to you and Tyler!!! To answer your question about PPA/PPD… I just had my first baby 1 week ago. Throughout my pregnancy I remembered your story after Gigi and I already struggle with general anxiety and life changes depression. So my midwife and I decided that since I was higher risk for postpartum depression (and I was experiencing prenatal anxiety) I started medication around 30weeks. With the help of the medication, support from my husband and mom, the transition into motherhood has been seamless. I just wanted to stack the deck in my favor to prevent PPD/PPA as best as I could. Happy Mommy = happy and healthy baby 🥰🥰
    Also: I highly recommend to see a therapist that specializes in pre/postnatal therapy. It helped a lot to work through my anxieties about becoming a mother. Worth it 1000%
