They pay duty on booze they serve on the ground, and not on booze served in the air. It’s a cost issue, I would say it’s pretty standard to pay the duty for business class.
As a cabin crew it is normal, first class and the rest are differently taken care of with the customs, they don't open it because they are still on the ground, in case the aircraft has to go back to the gate for some technical issues the seal will still have to be the same which they can't be if the bar has been opened
Might be due to laws and customs regulations, in the first class its probably a complimentary item, whereas in the lower class you have to pay for it, thus its a salemof alcohol and the regulations are different. But dont know for sure how it works.
@@iPelaaja1 Someone already mentioned it in one of the other comments. But if you open a bottle of champagne on the ground, you have to pay duty for that bottle. Its likely that the first class seats already has the duty factored into their ticket price. But not for business class, hence what she said "can't open on the bar on the ground".
Would like to clarify that the champagne being served on first class/ suites was duty paid. That means, the champagne bottle opened in first class was catered separately(i.e not from the bar cart). Certain airports and/or regulations made to the airline states that they cannot open the bar cart on ground, so no alcohol drinks from the bar cart (hence why business class was not serving them at point of boarding). They will gladly serve you the champagne right after take off :) The crew have to follow the rules and regulations of the airport station requirements. Why only first class has duty paid champagne??? Well that explains the cost of that ticket doesn’t it ;)
Exactly my experience with SIA. Flew them in Premium Eco to Sydney from Frankfurt and this year from Stockholm to Singapore in Business and their aircraft and crew are simply outstanding. Best Airline in the world period. In every class.
Glad to see you guys listened to the feedback about adding the classes to the videos for each person. Makes it much easier to tell who is on which one.
You always hear Qatar has awesome business class, Emirates have a great first-class suite and so on..all known for one type of product. Only Singapore Airlines seems to excel across the board and in my opinion the only airline that deserves a 5-star rating OVERALL.
@IM A MULTIFAN I agree Qatar has the number 1 ranked business class. Yet to actually try q-suites (due to where I fly) but what I was saying is that different airlines are known for specific things. Qatar-business class, Emirates/Etihad have some fantastic 1st class, Turkish Airlines great food and so on. But SIA are close or equal to all these in nearly every category. I love the hugely spacious SIA business class. As for the service, I guess it is based on the flight on the day. On their day, even useless Airlines can have fantastic service. So anyways, my point was that overall, you are rarely going to be disappointed flying SIA. Qatar is a close 2nd though.

You need to book it before the flight, hence it can be a different culinary experience compared to Economy.

The fact that business class came in last place for call bell was funny. But I’m adding some time (2 secs) for Nicky because he was sitting at the bulkhead right near the galley lol.
Frankfurt airport has customs regulations that prohibits the opening of the bar while the aircraft is on the ground in Frankfurt. i flew a couple times business class at swiss air and it was actually very similiar to the economy class seats but u had near u one seat free und got decent food (my brother threw up once cause of the food at the parking lot at the airport in neapel)
I fly this route SIN-JFK via Frankfurt regularly before the direct route came online, mostly on business but once on Suites. So there are some business seats that are better than others. Bulkhead for example give you much more leg room which is needed on long haul flights and during bed time. There are also a couple of seats on the upper deck last row which is very private and feels like first class. You also get more attention from the crew especially if that part of the cabin is not full. Those are great seats if you don't mind that it is slightly more bumpy during turbulence being near the tail.
that's Nicky for you! Can't stand anyone but himself flying first class and since it would be asking for backlash if he gave it to himself, he just gives it to Ben.
I think you four are the best TPG team so far, great skills and chemistry. Anyway, always love flying SQ!Hope you guys can do EVA, China Airline (A350) and Cathay Pacific soon.
Jean was so nice to agree on swapping their tickets. A bit disappointed but whatever... it's Jean anyway, thankful even flew economy most of the time 💕🤗
Is it just me or did anyone else think that business was better then suits? The only difference is that business got a bigger bed and suits had more privacy and more high quality food
Yes, if you are white! Asians from any part of Asia aren't so lucky. They are more ratty with you even on business class when you don't respond immediately to attention to their instruction to pull out your tray when they want to put the little tray cloth on! That put me off S'pore Airlines. I have since only travelled Emirates on business class.
It's not the specific issue, they cannot open the bar on the ground in certain countries because of the country's liquor tax laws. In First class, the tax is already paid for.

Passengers with a star alliance first class ticket are entitled to bring a guest into any star alliance lounges in the first class sector thus Jean could’ve invited one of his guests into the lounge for future reference 😅✌️
But that would of meant one of the guys would have been left out so that’s probably why he didn’t do that.
i flew a couple times business class at swiss air and it was actually very similiar to the economy class seats but u had near u one seat free und got decent food (my brother threw up once cause of the food at the parking lot at the airport in neapel)
as a Singaporean i feel proud that other people like singapore airline
Jean is thee best first class reviewer - keep him there please 😀😀😊😝
Jean is best😍
Plus he have mole on his chest!
Seemed a bit nasty to take Jean's first class seat away like that? At least give it to Liam if you're gonna do that
that's Nicky for you! Can't stand anyone but himself flying first class and since it would be asking for backlash if he gave it to himself, he just gives it to Ben.
Liam flew first class in the Lufthansa video!
Buisiness was better than first in my opinion
If they did that on American carriers, they will be told to give the boarding passes back to the person whose NAME is on that pass
Larry Lawayne probs got in first then exchanged seats or told them they want to swap seats
I think you four are the best TPG team so far, great skills and chemistry. Anyway, always love flying SQ!Hope you guys can do EVA, China Airline (A350) and Cathay Pacific soon.
9:23 is what you guys are here for
Jean was so nice to agree on swapping their tickets. A bit disappointed but whatever... it's Jean anyway, thankful even flew economy most of the time 💕🤗
Is it just me or did anyone else think that business was better then suits?
The only difference is that business got a bigger bed and suits had more privacy and more high quality food
Singapore airlines is so nice I’ve been to Singapore 4 times flying with them 3 they treat u better then I’ve been on any other airlines
Buisness: "We don't have champagne until we take off"
First: *Proceeds to drink champagne before they take off*
It's not the specific issue, they cannot open the bar on the ground in certain countries because of the country's liquor tax laws. In First class, the tax is already paid for.
