I've used a MudMixer twice now and love it. I have a couple tips for others who might buy/rent one. It's VERY sensitive to water pressure. You can adjust the "mix," but if you're working at a site without city water, make sure your pump has a buffer/pressure tank (an RV water pump varies too much). There are concrete dissolver products you can buy for cleanup, and they're super helpful, but if you have a long pour you should also clean it twice a day or concrete can harden in the top wall of the auger and other spots and be hard to get out. Also, for a pour like this the auger and extension are fine. But if you're pouring footings/piers, it's definitely not long enough. We made do with a length of 6" drain pipe cut in half but buckets also work. It sounds like a lot of extra work but you're saving so much effort with the mixer anyway that it's not a big deal. Finally, make sure it has firm footing! It's pretty top-heavy once 1-2 bags are in the hopper. The MudMixer is pretty heavy for a homeowner to buy but you can easily rent them and it's not that much more than the old-school-work-hard rotating barrel style. I think we paid $110/day for 3 days locally. We mixed 3 PALLETS of concrete to fill 27 footing piers over about 2 days and never could have done it that fast without this machine.
Those are great tips. I'll definitely try to make a longer chute extension, I have a retaining wall coming up that i'm going to use concrete footers for and might need this to get over the pile of dirt if I end up leaving it. I ran into the issue that you're talking about (I was going to cover this in the upcoming review) in the top wall of the auger on the second pad when I thickened the concrete up. I didn't run it long enough for it to harden so I was easily able to spray it out during cleanup but if it hardened that would've been a lot of fun to clean. You're right this thing is fast. I was amazed the first time I used it of how well it works.
It’s been an awesome piece of equipment to work with. I would’ve already got another video or two posted but we’ve had the craziest weather this year. Constant high winds and freezing temps won’t let me get started on the projects.
Hey man I appreciate you letting me know. I reached out to them to see what's going on, as soon as I hear from them i'll respond to this comment again to give you an update. Yeah i've used a lot of different mixers and they don't even compare to the mud mixer. I actually looked hard at the ryobi mixers as well as the bauer and kushlan. I figured as much as I used it this thing would be worth it. Not to mention you can rent this bad boy out and not worry about it breaking. Anyhow i'll keep you posted. Thanks again.
@@TherealMotopsychothank you brother! They got back with me and said they’re doing website updates so some links are broken, but should be up soon. They’ve got some pretty good deals going on right now though with free accessories so I’d check on their site to see what’s up.
@reallifetested2605 waaaaahoooooo lol got me a big ole country pour project on the horizon think I'm going to follow your vids and take a stab at it. I have some concrete skills from past jobs but nothing of this size to date..wish me luck 🤞🏾
