When I see Dave Hill all I can think of is the time Karl Pilkington had a falling out with his girlfriend for saying her new haircut made her look like him.
Love this film and it really is the greatest rock n roll brit movie ever made...the only criticism is that the last scenes were definitely rushed leaving myself and a lot of people wondering just what happened and what was so bad that the band fell apart..I can only assume it was a bad edit? Mark Kermode said that swearing was cut from it..I would love to see that put back in now that we are all more grown up.. I'm pleased that mr Kermode loves this film and for that I say cheers!
Kermode is right - excellent film, really surprised me when I watched it after the BBC showed it recently in their Slade night on BBC4 - you can see the whole film here on youtube. Thoroughly recommended.
To all the people saying they're going to skip this because they hate glam or whatever, do re-consider. I'm much the same, can't stand Slade's kind of music, but this is actually a quality film with a surprisingly sharp take on the music business. I was pleasantly surprised.
The Buddy Holly Story - Gary Busey's finest couple of hours (made before he went completely hatstand) is surely greatest rock biopic? And Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury? They'll have to chop off at least a foot-and-half or CGI him down to size ( a-la Chris Evans in Cap America); Freddie may have been larger than life but he was no bigger than a broom-handle.
Why have all the more recent uploads had the comments diabled? Is it because of a certain American with his 700-odd hateful comments that have ruined it for everyone? Please BBC, bring back the comments.
I am not keen on Glam rock, so I will probably not watch it, but on the more rock biopic side of things,Control by Anton Corbijn is the standout movie.
I thought it was a poor, meandering drag of a movie. It was poorly paced and was only interesting when either Slade were playing, Noddy Holder was on screen, or Alan Lake was on screen. I found Conti gave a bland performance, and some of the scenes and characters were entirely pointless. The conflict in the band seemed contrived and overall, I give it 2/10

He cuts his hair with garden shears blindfolded.

Great band, crap film, although some nice shots of 70's Britain. I like Kermode but too often he gets it completely wrong.
