  • The Hasselblad 28p is an affordable 28mm wide-angle lens with a 22cm minimum focusing distance. It comes in at a mere 245 grams and is about 44.5 inches in length. Image quality is simply outstanding matching the 100 megapixel resolution of the Hasselblad X2D. This is a very well priced lens that makes perfect sense for your camera bag.

You’re not kidding about the sensor stabilization. I shot on the street at dusk with new new 55 mm lens, with shutter speeds from 1/10th to 1/15th sec. It was amazing! People walking had a beautiful, huge motion blur rat that shutter speed, while the buildings and storefronts surrounding them were incredibly sharp. The best street camera ever for dawn, dusk, and at night, all hand-held.

I first bought the X1DII, sold it to upgrade to the upgraded to X2D and I can honestly say that this is a camera (system) that motivates me photography and I carry it in my office bag every day with the 55v lens. The feel of the camera, the image quality and the colors are just so enchanting. The system is not perfect and I'm required to slow down ( especially compared with any camera from Sony or Fujifilm), but at the same time it reminds me of the older days shooting with my medium format cameras be it my Hasselblad 500CM or Rolleiflex 2.8F

      compact?
I personally dont even want to carry my EOS R7 that much around, except im expecting wildlife or any situation using it makes sense.
The biggest advantage of middle format is its resolution and image quality to crop much or print big (or both...). If you optimise such a system to a more compact package you will undeniable lose some of those key advantages or cripple them a bit.
I had the same experience going from APS-C to FF and back to APS-C, as well as with for example with my Canon RF 800 F11 supertele lens - yes, light and small, but you lose some key features or cripple the usecase (no owls in flight in dark forests possible for example)
At ANY camera system, there is always a specific "weight/size to quality/capability" ratio, and you better dont go too low with weight or size otherwise image quality or (low light) capabilities will be compromised. This physical fact alone stopped smartphone cameras to overtake cameras completely, otherwise affordable cameras would not even exist anymore.

i have the 907x. i'm considering getting this lens. can't wait for the next digital back. i think the v-system platform is hasselblad's new premium tier. at some point i wish they'd make a new premium platform, digital 6 by 6. i love composing in square on the hasselblad, and if they brought back the square sensor, it would be a renaissance in the arts.

This was one I bought before even looking at the data sheet. While I'll probably still hold on to the XCD 21/4, there is no denying this one will be easier for everyday use. Still astounds me just how little glass is exposed at the front of these lenses for the clarity they provide to the sensor.

oh wow - didn't see that coming. I thought the new direction was all about the XCD-V lens range. Some questions: "it'd very quiet" - there are two noise-making things, the shutter, and the focus-hunting racking sound. Does this lens hunt noisily? Secondly, when set in manual focus mode, does it feel laggy in that focus-by-wire way, or does it feel close to - say- a Leica M lens feeling of manual focus precision? Finally, in image quality, do you see any in-camera software correction smearing at the corners, etc? (I wondering for that compact size, if the camera is correcting lens design distortion, vignetting, etc to a high degree, and baking that into the raw files. There has been some criticism of - for example - the 38V - for this).

I have this 28p now for a few weeks and it's a great wide angle lens. I love how close i can get to the subject and the dynamic look that gives. I also own the 45P and the 80 mm 1.9. I do feel that the 45P outperforms the 28P in image quality. The level of detail with the 45p is slightly better. Could be my eyes though. The focusing on the other hand is much faster and accurate than the 45p.
In all it's a great addition to my system and the price for this Hasselblad lens is very competitive. I am afraid that the 45p is going to be used much less often now.

    • @wildlife-austria
      @wildlife-austria 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Are we still at those extreme price points and modern days arguing about autofocus accuracy? WOW!
Those issues i had either due to manufacturer/3rd party incompatibility/intentional nerfing such as with my Sigma 150-600C on EOS-R cameras in AF-C, or because its an old "camera" (a 2004/2005 point and shoot...) such as the Sony P100 and P200 i use since some weeks.
I personally dont see any remarkable difference between those images and if i would use my 10-20 3.5 APS-C lens on 32MP APS-C (EOS R7). I mean, there are differences, it has less vignetting (easily corrected), corner sharpness and IQ in the corners is A LOT better, it might has better sharpness and color rendition,...but is it worth 300$ vs 1800$? depends...
Even smartphones with their "raw" features and 50MP+ deliver already very good looking images, and if implemented correctly AI disimprovement is a lot less.
But i guess i better dont argue, im a budget user and actually even use 5.1 and 7.2MP CCD point and shoot cameras and enjoy it.

    • @gdv174
      @gdv174 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@wildlife-austria i have a very good mobile phone and actually use it a lot for photography. And it has a raw feature that i have used. And the images can look very good indeed i agree totally with you. But when you start to look and compare the images made with the mobile phone and the Hasselblad than the Hasselblad beats it by a lightyear. And i am not so arrogant to deny the shortcomings of the Hasselblad because it does have flaws of wich the autofocus is the least. I find the lack of sensitivity of the screen and it's erratic behavior much more irritating. That is something Hasselblad really has to fix imho. And about the 28p...the image quality is definitely less than the 45p. But off cource the 45p has much less wide angle. So what you win in wide angle you loose in detail/sharpness. But that is understandable. And you must use the focal length for it's intended purpose. So if i need less wide angle i use the 45p and for portrait you can use the 45p but it's beaten by a mile by the 80mm1.9.
That being said... The colors, image quality of the sensor, the contrast range and incredible IBIS make this camera what it's worth. For me... Because i bought it as a replacement for an analog CM501 wich does not have any of these features. And i find myself often turning of the AF. And to be honest the X2D outperforms the CM501 in a analog /digital workflow. Especially when you look at ease of use. I can shoot hundreds of images and nit be worried about having to develop dozens of films and scanning them. Not to mention the cost of film nowedays and a good scanner. That Terrabite of internal memory is something that is worth a lot.

ok, your invitation for questions on the X2D -
    1. will there be a firmware update to improve autofocus options, or in any way make further use of the combination phase and contrast detect sensor?
    2. compared to the 907x (which I have), with the faster sensor readout on the X2D (DP Review quote "166 ms in 14-bit mode and 370 ms in 16-bit mode") have you experienced more success with adapted lenses on the X2D compared to the 907X (presuming you've stuck your 1.4/50SX, for example, or others on it)?
    3. the native XCD macro lens - 120mm f/3.5 XCD - is max 1:2, and there seems no native 1:1 lens. Have you used your 907x or X2D for any sort of film scanning or similar work?
    4. aside from a resolution boost, are you seeing a consistency of sensor response / colour-science between the two sensors (907x / X2d), or does the X2D render a little differently? (My 907x is the best I've seen in any straight-out-of-camera colour)
    5. in your own photography Ted, having used the X1D and 907X for a long time, has the X2D, in practice, inspired you to do different things photographically? Do you find yourself picking up the X2D more? If so, what is it - the IBIS, the viewfinder, etc? And what, if anything, are you still using the 907x for?
As you might sense, I've been sitting on the fence for possibly buying the X2D, for over a year. I'd be happier I think if the X2D was 50mp for file management. But my biggest concerns with it have been - a.) tricky autofocus implementation, no joystick, no eye-detect, etc, combined with, b.) laggy, tricky manual focus of the XCD lenses compared to classic helicoid-focus manual lenses. c.) I shoot with my left eye in the viewfinder, so I have some concerns about the screen-swipe method for selecting a focus point in AF.
Otherwise I love everything about the X2D offering - the form factor, the build quality, the viewfinder, the colour science, and the quality of lenses (I have 3.5/30, 4/45P, 1.9/80).
Anyway, feel free to take any of those questions/concerns if they are useful. I'm looking forward to seeing your 1-year update. Thank you.

    1) What else do you do sir other than this TH-cam channel to able to afford so many Hasselblad?
    2) Is there crop mode like Leica Q3 where you can get 28/35/70/90mm crop so you can have a zoom versatile lens on your single quality prime lens? What will the equivalent focal lengths and resolution you can get with this new 28mm?
    3) If I crop in on the macro close up photos with this 28mm, is it able to focus and catch the details of material and insects like ants?
    4) If I love Hasselblad color science and don't want to do much post processing, but like to document life in video form too, should I get X2D with single 28mm F4 pair with Sony Xperia 1 V and iPhone 15 or get Sony A7C ii with these same phones?

Hello, Just like to say something about the Hasselblad X series cameras. I have the fist version X1D and for that for me I was and still is a dream to use. not quick but give you time to think and been one of the best cameras in the hand. Now I have had my X2D over a year now I have 5 of the XCD lenses all of which work so well. I have had the X2D for over a year now, I think must of been one of the first it the North of England? The colours and image quality I find just amazing, But there are areas in firmware it had gone back with like wifi tethering with the X1D it was amazing, with the X2D dose not work :( and why did they not add eye auto eye detect. Good havens I have written programs to like my X1D to a PC which uses eye tracking and face recognition to database pulling up name and labelling know individuals. So it should not be that hard? One thing I am finding that would be addition to this camera (many be on X2D II) is a sensor shield, it dose work so well on my Nikon Z9 and Z8. But I just love the Hasselblad X system. Keep well, keep safe and enjoy life. O Yes I will have a look at this 28mm P XCD lens. PS I to love the XPan crop, even better in the way you can set the mask density allowing simpler composing,

Tilts me into oblivian that I can't get a digital box style stills camera for less than a small fortune. I still use my Mamiya 645 Pro TL without a grip, more like my RB67 Pro SD, and with a waist level viewfinder and love it. I can't justify the cost of a system like this because, for me and what I do, I wouldn't really notice a difference in final output. There's something to be said about enjoying the process and the equipment used, if it feels like a chore and it "souless" so to speak, your final work will probably have less appeal. That said, I sold off my GFX kit because I was perfectly fine with the results I got out of the Sigma fp and fp L that replaced it. All the Sigmas needs for me is a tilt screen and I'm set; it's not needed enough to do the mod and trade away weather sealing, though.

Is the X2D focus fast enough shooting kids for example? (I know, maybe 100mpix not needed for that). Someone said about the X1D that it’s not fast enough for an entire wedding, portraits ok but not the whole day, maybe this one is?

Well didn't this come out of the blue - i have the 907x for all my Pro work now - I expect and hope they will produce a 100mp version - pity they still can't get the 90mm 2,5 out of the starting blocks - been waiting over a year now - however one issue with 45mm portable lens is the odd concave front element - you do get very odd flare with it - hope this new lens doesn't do that

I have the A7R5 and X2D and OM-1. The X2D IBIS is slightly better. Much better if you consider it gets slightly better results with much higher resolution. The X2D files are in another league though. As they should be. The A7R5 and SL2 have the best IBIS in 24x36 that I've tried and the A7R5 is a big step up for Sony cameras. The OM-1 though is still a stop or so better than the X2D, but it should be with the lower resolution and sensor size.

Not. That's false. Fujifilm deservers credit! They the only ones bringing medium format to the masses by realeasing GFX line at the price of FF.
Hassel is realeasing this only because Fujifilm stole their market. Otherwise they would continue to ask for ridiculous amounts of money, because they had no competition.
