I used the GFX System since 5 years, and switched to the 907x 100cfv (i got a 500cm from m grandpa).
I totally fell in love with the hasselblad System and with the 907x Beauty. It is my only Camera System which i also use for private, kids, coffee or travel.
I use the 38 and 55 and find the AF System fast enough also for my kids.
The X2D is technically a better camera but it has not the spirit and the form factor of the 907x.
Love your videos!! Greetings from Germany

Benj... spot on. X2D is a rational choice with IBIS, Weathersealing, EVF, portrait or landscape - no issue, easy tripod mount, versatility. The 907X is like the M11 - a different experience for the joy of photography. The other comparison is M11 vs 907x or SL3 vs X2D. Color science in particular would be very interesting comparison.

The 907 looks gorgeous. You know that meme when the husband is turned over and the wife is wondering what he’s thinking about - that’s me thinking about the 907. The only thing that is stopping me from purchasing it is that I live in Alaska and the lack of weather sealing is too worrisome to put that kind of cash down. If Hasselblad makes a new version - no other changes besides being more durable- that’s my next purchase.

the reality of owning the camera doesn't match up to the expectations, unfortunately... Not having a viewfinder is really limiting especially in bad light. Turns out to be a non-starter for adapting lens. (amazing files, of course, with the native lens)

I can help. As Pros these little beauties have been our cameras of choice since they released the X1d and thie 907x50c- and we have followed the upgrade path diligently - thanks to Clifton Cameras UK - the 907xCFV100c - cannot do 400mp like its bigger sister - (no IBIS) but that is not its strength - I often use it on a salon stand looking down - or underneath looking up - I can use it one handed, it is great for high angle shots handheld - but still that it is not its greatest strength, It hooks onto the back of any Hass Film camera from 1959 onwards - but still there is one thing it does better than anything else and it is not even the fact that on a tripod it becomes invisible at waist level so you can concentrate on your subjects. Nope it's greatest strength is that it looks cool.
We have 2 X2D's and only 1 907x and if I can this is the one I take -Can't wait to see your comparison good luck

While I absolutely love the 907X for its design, I still think that the X2D is a much more practical camera for most people due to IBIS. I own the X2D and couldn’t be happier with it.

Ah, the dilemma of only being able to to choose. one. I am still torn between heart and brain. In the meanwhile I have the X1D II with the set of P lenses (28, 45, and 75) to soothe my soul. The one thing that you said was new for me is thinking of putting the 907x in your camera bag as you would do a lens. Considerble space is saved. Still IBIS and EVF calls loudly. I started with old film cameras and that taught me a lot about having good photographic technique. So maybe, IBIS and EVF may not win out. Ah, decisions, decisions! Just too much temptation both have pluses and minuses. A good whiskey may be the solution. 🙂

I think your comment nails it - head says X2D and heart says 907x. The argument for the 907x being good in the studio is lessened by the new X2D firmware allowing for multishot mode because of IBIS - if Hasselblad figures out how to allow multishot without tethering in the X2D it will be amazing for landscape as well. But I just love the size and feel of using the 907x and miss it even though I have the X2D. Perhaps I'll pick up a used 907x 50c - its a lot cheaper, and since the 100c doesn't have IBIS anyway, the difference between the old and new 907x doesn't feel as dramatic as the difference between the X2D and the X1D mkII.

Ngl i would run the X2D anyday. Own practically all the hasselblad stuff since the 907x 50c and even used the 500cm with the CFV original back.
    Lemme explain.
The 907x is more of a (fun over practicality) camera with the screen being smaller and having lesser buttons. Its fun but i will never use it for any of my shoots, when i was in australia for my studies, this was the camera i carried and it tend to crash like 40% the time. Perhaps its a early model maybe its cold but it got so bad I had to buy an M11 as my backup camera.
The X2D on the other hand is better for prolonged use. Its more comfy to hold especially on heavier lenses like the 80mm and 135mm + 1.7X converter. Plus the IBIS helps alot when doing night shoots when you dont want to push past ISO800 and want the cityline to be bright.
But in my opinion, the 907x is best for travel and fun as it is lighter and smaller while the X2D is better for technical use. (Trust me i shot close to 6TB on these 2 systems in the 2 years i owned them)

I have questions about the quality of the AWB M11, but that is not the main issue here. How are you used to taking pictures and what. As a photographer with 20 years of experience with the M system, I am attracted to the 907 by the ability to shoot the same way as with the M system - from the belly) And the weight of the 907 is comparable to the M system. @@benjhaisch I was going to ask you if you plan on breaking down the lens line up at some point. I have a 500 C/M with the 50mm, 80mm and 180mm lenses, so when I got the 907X, my first thought was to only use native lenses that were wider than the 50, but after about a year of shooting it, I find so much pleasure in using the 907X in it's native format that I am considering more XCD lenses. Focusing on the wide end, I bought the 45P and the 25V at first. I recently picked up the 75P as a "normal" / portrait lens, and so far I am pleased. I am torn about whether the 55V or 38V would be a better everyday lens, though. Since you can crop so deep in the files and still have high resolution images, I am still thinking that either lens would be a great choice.

Hey Benj, I really love your channel and have been following you for a while. I truly miss your Fuji content, but I get why you've gone all in on Hasselblad. Nobody's turning down free high-end gear, especially something as beautiful as that. I know the medium format film photography from Hasselblad is amazing, and the digital system is great in its own way. However, one thing I don't like is that the digital medium format with the lenses in their lineup doesn't give you that true medium format look. Fuji's 1.7 is barely hitting that, and they’re more of a 1.3 look in full-frame terms.
Both Fuji and Hasselblad’s digital medium formats lack the true medium format aesthetic unless you're using third-party manual lenses, like from Mitakon or Leica/Voigtländer. But I’m not gonna spend thousands of dollars on a high-end body and then be reduced to shooting with manual-only glass. It would be great if you could talk more about this on your channel and let people know that, yes, these cameras are beautiful and compact, but they’re really giving you more of a 1.9 full-frame look.
You can easily get a similar effect with a Canon DSLR and a few prime lenses (like the 28mm f1.8, 50mm f1.4, and 85mm f1.8) and just crop it in Lightroom to a 4:3 aspect ratio. Think about the money you’d save by going that route-money that could be spent on models, makeup, lighting, and other things that bring your creative vision to life. I feel like we're all getting a little brainwashed by these companies.
I’m not trying to bash you at all-I absolutely love your channel and find your work really inspiring. Just wanted to share some thoughts. Keep doing what you’re doing!

    • @benjhaisch
      @benjhaisch  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Hey thanks for the insight. I ended up selling my X-E4 because I just didn’t use it enough to justify and then sold my GFX50S when the 907X came in for the same reason. I feel like Fujifilm had a bit of a slower 2024 release cycle and while I’d love to review all of their things it’s sort of up to my contacts decisions whether I get the new stuff or not. All that to say, I hope their production woes are over and 2025 is a banner year for Fujifilm.
I’ve also been less obsessed with the most shallow DOF imaginable as I have been in the past. That said, of course you can get similar looks from much much much more inexpensive gear. It’s all diminishing returns at some point, but I do think that cameras like these do have their place and the flexibility of the files really is amazing. But do 99% of people *need* cameras like these, of course not. Just like no one *needs* a Leica M11, Q3, and most don’t even need a Sony A1 or other flagships.
I’m fortunate to do this for a living and also have some opportunities from this channel like this and I’m trying not to take them for granted :)

This is how you do ethical disclosure. I'm thrilled that they gave you the cameras, and trust that it doesn't cloud your judgement. Nice vid!
I used to own the 907X 50C. The cold shoe situation was miserable for a tripod queen of a camera - they fixed that with the 100C. The sensor was massive and a total dust magnet, so I wish they would have added a darkslide with the 100C. A lack of even basic weather sealing on an MF camera is also something I find weird. I got the hand grip and my wife correctly asked, "so you got this camera because it's weird and are adding accessories to make it less weird?" I also didn't like the strap wear experience, as the way the camera wanted to lay/bounce depended on the size and weight of the lens. And it ran hot.
I ended up selling it and getting an X1D2, but I could see myself going for a 907X 100C and probably couldn't resist with more improvements.

Something that doesn't get mentioned a lot when it comes to Medium Format is that with a square sensor (or negative) that aspect ratio tends to really shine when the subjects are centered.
The benefit there is your subjects are being placed in the sharpest part of the lens. Although with modern lens design perhaps this isn't as much of an issue as it is with film. What do you think?

I could see them waiting to see what Leica does with their MF and then reacting accordingly.

Or someone in marketing grew a brain. Fuji is smashing them on body + lenses pricing, and this is cost-effective campaigning.

@@astrostl fwiw, for someone like me, I think it makes a lot of sense because these are cameras that I will actually use and will continue to make videos about on my own time/dime anyway. so imo they're going to be getting more than their money's worth here. I wouldn't be able to justify getting this into the system otherwise without selling off a ton of my other tools.

@@benjhaisch for sure. And there are going to be a ton of content creators in the same boat that can *influence* purchases. If an additional 5 units get sold as a result of each, they're probably well into the black.

Having been someone who bought both of these there are some massive operating differences that makes them very far apart in terms of operation.
I also just wanted to say something and this is not a reflection of this channel which I have been watching now for sometime but I am absolutely staggered by how many x2d and 907x 100c cameras have been given away to TH-camrs by Hasselblad.
I have counted at least 30 mentions of this on various channels.
And it’s clearly multiple six figure amounts they have gifted across the board to get ‘content’. I know a few people who are pro photographers like myself who find this somewhat staggering and while I would like to think the people who run the channels would still be objective it would be fairly difficult to not feel rather ‘giddy’ about being given camera gear worth an absolute fortune and this has clearly been evident in a lot of the content I’ve watched.
Sadly being a 50+ year old somewhat skeptical pro photographer it has somewhat devalued the content for me a little.
Again not an attack on you as I enjoy your channel a lot - just thought I’d share what I felt as a general observation.
