Thanks for the review. I have the M-Vave Tank-G (M-Vave, Cuvave and Playwell are all the same company) and here's a few things I would add: 1. If you're in live mode (quick press the B&C buttons on any preset), you can easily change effects settings. Unless you're using a lot of presets on a gig, you can adjust them during setup at the venue. 2. It works well with the M-Vave Chocolate MIDI pedal, which gives you four more footswitches and more ability to change presets. 3. The big thing is that M-Vave has released software to profile your OD pedals and amps which can be imported to the AMP section. It's no Kemper, but it gives you even more sound options.
Got it today after realizing it is 24 bit. Ran through the pre set and it blew me away. I run a 210 H JVM full stack with analogue distortion and this just knocked me on my ass. The harmonics, the echo, the sustain is just amazing. The volume without squealing is a sale alone but the harmonics blew me away. I would pay 3 times the price to get close. Extraordinary, hats off.
This is the best review of this unit I have seen, particularly in terms of how it works, and I have watched a lot of them. Thank you, I have learned a lot and without having to sit through a lot of rubbish.
i am sure few told you so far, after thanking you for this comprehensive illustration, the blue tooth allows you to play any backing track from your mobile through the Tank G and play with it, and all will come out from the same speaker
I might have figured this thing out on my own using just the manual, but this well designed overview, and some of the comments, really got me up to speed. Thanks!
Very nice review! Thanks! There is a link in the manual for downloading the correct PC/Mac app program (M-EFCS), as well as a firmware upgrade for the unit. The Bluetooth is for sending audio via BT from your wireless device to the pedal for the "Band in a box" - "Play with yourself" setup. The USB is for charging, powering, app control and having a direct digital connection (PnP)to your computer (44.1K/24 bit), thus allowing you to bypass your external USB audio interface and not adding more stages of A/D/A conversions to the signal path. To understand this pedal further, check out reviews and manuals and tutorials for the CubeBaby product. It's the same engine with different bells and whistles. If you want stereo, buy a second one! I have five Babys for this, running through a programmable mixer with auto pan set to different rates for each pedal. Crazy? Yes! But they are practically free!
Thanks so much i received mine today!! This review was Great and really helped me so much...I only paid $60 for mine so definitely worth it and much More 👍
Hi Ben, superb review thus far. I'm not quite through it, but I love toys like this. I bought one using your affiliate link. Great deal $79.99 less a 15% coupon. Amazing. The last cheapo multi effects pedal I bought, a Joyo of some sort went south. I love messing around with stuff like this, and TBH, this one for the money kinda impressed the heck out of me. I truly enjoy your non nonsense reviews. Great job, cheers from an old Blues guy in Chicago. Thanks for the review and the link.
Thank you for checking out the video and clicking the link too! Also - I appreciate the kind words. Hope you enjoy the pedal, it’s been good for what I’ve been using it for. Cheers!
I wanted to add that for the $80 shipped this unit cost me i am extremely satisfied with it. I use it as at home headphone rig and love that i can get a Marshall stack tone at 2:00 in the morning and no one knows i am even playing in the house!
The noise gate does some work, but I didn’t use it much. I just don’t like them very much. The guitar itself has a bit of noise being a single coil, but I’ve used the pedal with my humbucker guitars and it wasn’t as buzzy. Thanks for checking out the video!
Thank you for this tutorial. Just one question, after you saved your new settings to bank 2B, does this mean it has overwritten or replaced the original (2B) preset? Thanks again.
One minor thing. You kept saying that the reverb select knob also controls the mix. It says right on the knob that it controls the amount of decay (how long the reverb lasts). The knob marked RVB MIX controls the mix (how much reverbed signal is mixed with the dry signal). It's an easy mistake since a short decay can sound like not much reverb in the mix. Anyway, your review convinced me to buy one 😜.
For some, this little box will be used primarily for practice or quick recording, (just getting an idea down). Putting it on your board for gigging, the presets would give you broader varieties vs. your pedal bank. For $60-$70, you can't complain.
Hi Eric, unfortunately no tap tempo. The FX controls are all very arbitrary positions. So you just need to find what works for your song, unfortunately. Hope that helps!
Thank you for a great video it was really helpful I have a question for you. In the live mode do you know if I can program each channel to do something different? I would like ideally to change the mod to an amp sound so I can make that a dirty and then the four Channel a lead do you know if that's possible? The instructions I got are brutal they don't really say much
Thanks for checking it out. As far as I know you would just have to make the two patches and the assign them to two buttons. I don’t think you can assign individual specific function to the buttons. Sorry! Thanks!
I haven’t used the Tonex One, but that has some cool features. Like Stereo Out for example. I like that all the features are readily accessible on the Tank G and there isn’t *much menu diving or a computer interface needed, but the Tonex One does look like it could be pretty cool! Cheers!
Went through 20+ videos where the main priority was either silly video effects or blurring the background all the way to Saturn. Good video without all the "Cinematic" crap distractions.
Hi, it’s my understanding that the Green original is the exact same model but from another distributor. I’ve also heard it has better documentation. Cheers!
Hi! I’m sorry for the confusion, the output will come out as stereo, but it’s a duplicate track in each side, no stereo effects. For example, there won’t be any ping-pong delay back and forth between left and right, it would just be the same exact audio in both the left and right side. Does that make sense?
Okay because i buy this playwell tank g I hope you can make a preset like clean tone drive, overdrive and distortion or a good preset for this playwell tank g thanks and God bless 😊
You have to learn to use your guitar's volume knob for this to be practical. Which you should learn to do anyway. It will make you a more rounded player!
Using the BT you should be able play audio on your phone and it goes into the amp so you could use it for say a backing track.. that is the way my Cube Baby works. I thought the app was useless when i tried using it. Supposedly using the app you're supposed to be able to record to your phone via BT or something but i never got this to work either. Nice stuff though for the price IMO, with lots of modifications/options that can be utilized using the new ANN software. But thats greek to me Lol
Nice review but I find it weird that during your "build a patch from scratch" section you are going to pick an amp sound without an IR and say it sounds good. It seems these amp models are designed to be used with an IR either the internal or an external. I would turn on an IR when selecting an amp. Those overdrive amps sounded like crap without an IR as any modeler would. Oh by the way did you see if it will play thru a BT speaker? That might be the use of the BT capability.
Thanks for checking out the video. Yes, the build a patch section was just purely for demonstration, but, yeah you could turn on an IR for the patch as well if you wanted, or course. Regarding the Bluetooth function, unfortunately, I not found a viable use for it yet. Cheers!
