I feel so bad for that older sister. She loses her mom and then she tries to take care and protect her younger sister to the point of murdering their father just to find out that her sister and the adult she trusted have been lying to her. That she killed her Innocent father while the real pervert lives.
Me too. She will never be able to live a normal life. This is the beginning of her going down hill from here. Poor child.

Fin is the best. By far my favorite cop on the show. He does not suffer fools gladly nor does he give a corrupt or hypocritical member of the judiciary or the city's political elite the benefit of tact. He saves tact for people he either has empathy for or is still making his mind up about.

I thought too that she was outstanding until crying/sobbing at the end---that didn't sound genuine to me. i wonder how many times they shot that scene---she may have just run out of 'steam' if it was a long haul.

Know the scary thing? They take these stories from real cases. There's actually a guy like this somewhere who did these things, damaged these young lives. A change in locale and name, some alterations of appearance and detail and a real life case unsolved in northern California, Colorado or rural Arkansas becomes a story in which the victim's family often gets the closure they need. And Fin gets to say the things we wish we could.
Exactly. The most terrifying thing is this is based on a real case.
Somewhere out there these kids exist. Not in the same way or names of course.
I heard in an interview that was the thing that changed the casts view of the show as just a show to a way to help people, because they got letters from victims or families say thank you for their closure or such things.
If i was the older sister. Part of me would resent my sister for lying and saying the dad touched her. Thats an insane lie to tell. And it resulted in the dad being dead and the youngest seem like she couldnt care less. It was like the death was being plotted why did he go impersonate the dad months before the death to get custody of the kids. If this was a true story. I feel like they knew the sister would kill. With the dad dead. This sister in jail. He would have the youngest all to himself. Or he just wanted to Dad to get arrested. And then he would have custody. They wanted to get rid of the dad
There’s a whole title card that says they don’t.
Only some of their episodes come from true events. They use a disclaimer about it before the episode begins. UNLESS they've changed that 🤷🏼♀️
Most are loosely based on real events. The title cards always say fictional, but a few of them they will outright say (in a preview or heavily imply in the show) its based on a true crime.

When the scripted dialogue wasn't doing the trick to get him to confess, she quickly came up with her own clever ploy. U go girl!
The girl in the video isn't 13; her younger sister, who the man molested, was. She might've been 15-17.

What I love about SVU is, it's so predictable, but it still throws curveballs at you. I pretty much guessed from the beginning that Greg did something illegal and that the sister killed the dad, but I had no idea how it would go down.

The reason I love this show is because it helps bring at least some kind of awareness to cases like this and to the trauma rape victims suffer as well as how the law all too often fails them😔
Reality check - FBI stats state that in 25% of rape cases, the woman admits to making it up. As for what happens to the man, the media doesn't care. It might mess up the stylish narrative.
Absolutely nothing you just said happened in this clip. The girl in question wasn't raped, she wasn't a victim she was a murderer, and the law literally trapped this man and arrested him.

But if he had died here, then (a) he would surely be gone from the world for good and never able to harm anyone again, whereas with the law there's always guilty ones who slip through the cracks or get off easier than they deserve to and get to hurt others; and (b) it would've been fair - he caused an otherwise-innocent girl to irreversibly expunging her innocent father from this life, so it would've been fair that the same thing happens to him as what happened to the dad.

This episode genuinely made me cry. My younger sister and I are of similar age to the girls in the episode, and we have similar personalities too. I could relate to the older sister in the fact that's she's more rational and serious, yet she would do absolutely anything to protect her baby sister. I put us in their shoes and cried like a baby through the ending.

I figured it was the neighbor early on, but good episode as usual. I'm just glad they have moved on from Olivia getting abducted every season or someone trying to take Noah from her. The following episode had me screaming at the TV when they were trying to convince Olivia to lie to let that woman go.

this episode was great! although i thought the older sister should of gotten some type of discipline. instead of going to the police when hearing that her dad was sexually abusing her little sister, she killed him then made up a story to coverup. then in this scene her automatic response was to stab him . if they don’t get her some type of help then she’ll grow up thinking the best way to solve problems like this, is by killing or stabbing someone.
She will, it’s part of the conditions set for when she killed her dad. I think they said probation and mandatory counselling but I could be wrong.

Can we take a moment to point out how many people Olivia gets hurt or killed when she’s “biding by the law” but breaks all kinds of rules and laws to save her son
The actors in this show in the intense scenes are so good that I sometimes forget that they are acting and this stuff isn't real
Not true it is loosely based on real crimes real cases they change names they change places and some details to avoid problems with law saying it is fiction but a lot of their cases is from real life and is horrific what people can to eatch other

This was a very compelling episode. I have been a hardcore fan of SVU since its inception. It is going to be a sad day when it ends next season. On television for almost a generation -- that is unprecedented.
I am also a hardcore fan of Chicago PD and loved when they did crossover episodes with SVU when it aired on Wednesday nights. Before SVU goes away, I really need for them to team up with Chicago PD one last time. Please TV gods do it for the fandom.
