    I tried seiving my compost too this week and was really surprised with how much debris and lumps of wood were in it. Kept the rough stuff for other things like you do. Found that seiving with a front to back shake movement was easier on my spine than side to side, thanks for advice it does make a difference....

    I honestly think the BBC and ITV are missing a trick, and a great opportunity with the likes of yourself, Tony and a couple more I can think of. (Muddy Bootz and Terry King are also good.) You all have your own style. If I worked for a TV company I'd show all your different allotment projects and give weekly updates. Basically what you're doing now.

    That's a big challenge for us. We didn't even realize that once seeds have germinated, they can come off the heat mats. A lot of starts went really leggy, and we're think that could be one of the reasons???

Best wishes from East Yorkshire!

      Yes but not quite as strong as the green sorrel. Lovely in salads even put it in stir fry using Yorkshire lemon rape seed oil. Onions still to do, got distracted by potting on white and red berries Alpine Strawberries grown over winter from saved seed. They taste lik e sweets straight off the plant, they never make it into the kitchen!!!

    Hi Steve, I've been watching your channel for about 12 months now and just wanted to say thank you so much for all you advice, you've helped me a great deal. I've been gardening now for about 10 years, so have some experience. I have made many many mistakes and had some successes along the way, but watching your channel has helped and encouraged me loads, so thsnk you. I have 9 vegatable beds and two greenhouses and recently my husband has said I can have a 10x15 ft polytunnel which, you can imagine, I am ecstatic about 😁 However, I really haven't got a clue what one I should be getting. What's the best frame to get, plastic, steel or wood, what's the best cover, clear, white, green plastic, super therm, or net? Please please please, could you possibly help me with this 🙏 Many, many thanks. 😊

    Thanks very much for another great update Steve , I am a convert to Sieved Compost too lol , I also make my own potting Mix to start my seeds off as advised by Eli & Kate but my main worry is watering my seedlings as I have half in propagators and half potted on in small trays , I don't have them in Heated conditions other than in the house and moving them onto sunny window sills whenever possible, am I harming them by using a small water bottle to spray my plants as I can't soak them like you do , any advice gratefully rec'd Steve

    • @GreenSideUp
      @GreenSideUp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jim, you should find you are able to soak your seedling from underneath in a propagator, add water to the base a little at a time till the pots/trays have soaked it up, then add another small amount till that dissapears. Finally you will get to a point where the last bit added will not be drunk up my your pots and you know they are well hydrated, doing it this way increases your knowledge for the next watering which you can acomplish more confidently, the last remaining bit in the propagator base will dissapear quickly over a few hours. You can do the same for plants just on the windowsill, place in a tray or in a washing up bowl to water them then stand them on your windowsill in drip trays...Steve...😃
