    I had the ABSOLUTE PLEASURE to hear this setup at Michael’s yesterday. Only one word can describe it…STUNNING! The detail, clarity and immersive power that this JTR system displayed definitely left a LASTING impression on me and they WILL BE the end game for my theater as it develops over time. Thanks Michael!!!

    Michael, great video! My theater was very similar to yours, I also was rolling wide dispersion for my sides. I made the decision to do a major upgrade, which included buying all new JTRs (Qty 5 Noesis 212RT for L,C,R, RS, LS | Qty 2 Noesis 110HT-SL for both RS | and a Captivator 4000ULF-LP). Your video of Tony's theater sold me on JTR (You should get commission :) ) I remember Tony saying that he wished he had room for towers for his sides. As a result I knocked out large square holes and built large speaker pockets for my JTR 212RT as a part of my theater renovation along with extending my room 3 ft to make room for a new/large transparent screen and widening it by 6 ft. I removed most of my sheetrock and insulation and installed rockwool and use fabric for my walls. Also bought a new marantz, qty 2 monolith 7x200, JVC NX-7, and a miniDSP. During my first movie I watched I had the same reaction you did, the narrow dispersion of JTRs make for an incredible experience for object oriented sounds. I live in Texas so I can relate to your attic experiences. Your channel has been an invaluable resource to help me design and build my end game theater! Big thank you for all your hard work and content! God Bless!

Their is No End to Home Theater. Remember like what u have & love it. Funny how i heard many systems that i can hear some things and not hear some things from the same movie. Even in my own house. My living room system feels way different from my Basement system. We don't listen no wear near Reference Levels. What is Loud to me might be kinda low to others. But when my neighbor across the street can hear bass. It's loud enough😂 I will one day upgrade to Atmos height speakers...👍

    I lived in Phoenix and had to do similar work in the attic. It was summer. We started at 6:00am and worked 3-4 hours a day. Took three days and before entering the attic we would guzzle a bottle of water at night and another first thing in the morning. We put on Tyvek suits, climbed the ladder and brought up tools and lights and completed the job. It’s rough working in those conditions. The temperature started at 90 degrees and soared to 160 degrees by noon. I won’t do that again.

    Well I’m glad to see that big smile on your face because I know you had to deal with some challenges in your attic but I hope you have the pay off that you were looking for and I am very curious about what you used to mount the 1-10 on your ceiling because I can’t mount my speakers in the ceiling so I used some speakers mounts and I have all old school DCM speakers the original ones built in the 80s and the CX series made in 91 and Polk T15s for Atmos.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Michael it was definitely a challenge, but totally worth the effort. As stated, in the video, I added additional two by fours in between the joists. On the rear of the speakers, there are four key holes. We used 4 large screws to go into the 2x4’s and joists. Then an L bracket to lock the speaker in place.

    I have been telling people, for years now, that On-wall or On-Ceiling Atmos speakers aimed directly at the listening position is far superior to in-ceiling speakers which may not be exactly on axis.
    Welcome to the club Yout'man!

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had my in-ceiling on axis. They have aimable midrange and tweeters. JTR is just in a whole different league. Also, having a dedicated speaker cabinet is also a plus

    • @FURognar
      @FURognar ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Youthman a lot of people end up off axis though. Especially if they follow the dolby guidelines to the letter and the speakers they choose dont have a steep enough angle to get them on axis. I've seen quite a few people move from in-ceiling to external speakers precisely aim and almost everyone likes it significantly better.
      I would leave the in-ceiling speakers for those cases where absolutrly cannot mount a speaker on the wall or ceiling.

    Those JTR (or some of the Danley GO2 range) look like they'd be quite good in a home theatre. I don't think I'd crank it so balls to the wall that I'd exceed the capacity of 8" co-axials, and they are quite compact (though not HTIB level).
    Or if you live in a sound leaky apartment, binaural headphones and a Sub pac. I've always like the binaural effect. It is two channel headphones but with all the phase differences and EQ between channels that trick your brain into thinking the sound is some distance or direction away, instead of sounding right by your ears. I haven't heard any films with binaural recording though. The only thing the headphones miss is the feeling of bass on the body, which is what the tactile transducers are for.

    Thanks for another outstanding experience Youthman, I've enthusiastically subscribed and followed you for many many years. Your content is second to none IMHO. I have a similar dimensioned room to yours and JTR 212 LCR + 4000s. I also have the exact Klipsch surrounds + atmos speakers you just replaced driven by a Monolith 11x. I've been contemplating your upgrade for a while now. Do you think the 100 watts you're feeding the 10" JTR surround/atmos is adequate (rated up2 750 @ 8 ohms), or should I plan for more amplification long term?

    • @Youthman

      Thank you kindly. I am completely satisfied with the 11X driving my entire system. It definitely helps that both JTR and Klipsch are high sensitivity speakers. Would my speakers benefit from having more power? Probably. Would I hear a difference in a blind A/B comparison. Maybe. Maybe not.

    Jeff's right, Youthman's right ... urge overkill on the fastening!
    Overhead, in a room with serious LF capabilities ... anchoring/fastening must be rock solid way over engineered.
    It's great you address the importance.
    I've got Unistrut down each side of the room, front to back.
    Spanning side to side, I've got sets of Unistrut that I hang QSC yoke mounted actives.
    Since it's all Unistrut, I can quickly experiment with any positioning, and yet with all the structural integrity in the world.
    Of course, the Unistrut aesthetic isn't for everyone ...

      @@Youthman The difference this time will be built-in time and phase alignment. The Room Gain is mid-bass 150-300 Hz. Deep Bass filter can be centered from 20-80Hz. These are filters similar to miniDSP. Tilt can be adjusted for brightness.
      I stop filtering at the last peak/null beyond 3-4 db for each channel which for my room and speakers provides a more accurate sound reproduction. ARC does require a bit of adjustment to get to your destination, but all race engines must be tuned.

    I'm watching this for the second time as I determine if I'm gonna get JTR speakers.
    One thing you said was about having wide dispersion rears. Is that really a Dolby Digital and DTS thing? Where'd you see that info?
    I thought it was just the original Dolby Surround and Pro Logic decoding that didn't want directional audio because both surround speakers shared a single channel.
    I think the idea for having 2 speakers is that you could mount them easier and higher up on your wall than with a single speaker in the middle of the back of your room with a long wire going to it.
    I've been looking into Dolby Pro Logic and Pro Logic II as of late for some testing vs Dolby Surround (Atmos version) upmixing.
    Dolby Digital has discrete surround channels and with Surround EX, an optional matrixes 6th. That's why I was wondering why your home theater was built the way it was for Dolby Digital. I wanna know where this information exists that I'm missing 👍

    Michael, you hit a few important points at the end there. This is a hobby of "you don't know what you don't know". We can form perspective only from what we experience. So, take every opportunity to hear as many systems as you can. I've been at this about 35 years now and still learning something new from all rooms that I visit. It wasn't until recently that I had an opportunity to visit a professionally designed room that included calculated acoustic treatments (not DIY). It's hard to admit that I missed the boat on that, but I am thrilled that it gives me a longer journey! This has truly been a lifelong hobby that keeps giving.
