Don't you just hate it when you're about to record in the studio, only to find one of your favourite cymbals has a crack forming in the rehearsal the day before? Yeah, I wasn't too pleased..
But here I take a bit more lighthearted look at the drummers nightmare, and compare my cracked Paiste 2002s!

cool, i have a question
how is carving a large hole in the side of the symbal better than just letting the crack be? isnt it just making a bigger crack?

Really it's an attempt to stop it from getting worse for as long as possible, but playing with any sort of intensity means the cracks are always gonna come back.
It's more a game of luck as to how good the sound is going to stay, but with the 2002 you get a pretty good idea of what happens if you let the crack spread!
