Side exit, so you don’t get that cat smell 👍🏼👍🏼.I love the sound, but I’m ok with mine being quiet. I commute an hour each way, the silence is appreciated lol
I feel the best thing about this exhaust is its side profile. Will help with rear window when down. Looks and sounds great. Another addition you added I must now get. Keep up the good work.
Installed this evening and these instructions could not be better. Super easy and sounds great!! Low and throaty and not obnoxious. Next up, cold air intake. I went with Afe momentum GT.
My buddy put on an AFE cold air intake with this exhaust on his ‘19 Tacoma and it added a bunch of power and increased his MPG to 21. However, it is crazy loud in the cabin. So much so that I canceled my order for the same intake.
I installed this 6 months ago after checking out all of the other exhaust options for the 5th gen. I am super happy with it. Love the sound, style, and the new placement.
I just got this installed. It does sound great....a bit of drone on uphills and such but I also noticed a bit more kick when I punch it. Definitely worth the investment. Interesting that other exhaust reviews (Borla and Gibson) claim you lose some low end torque as a trade off for more HP.
THANK YOU! My 2017 had a rusted together DynaFlow exhaust from the previous owner that was leaked bad. Like fart can bad. Toyota was screwing me over so I purchased the same system as you. Took longer to cut out the old exhaust with a reciprocating saw than it did to install the new one. This video was a huge help! I have to see if you did one for the TRD CAI.
Thanks for this review. Just put the TRD exhaust and Intake on my 19’ Limited. Had to use a torch on some of those bolts. Holy Moly didn’t think they would ever come off. I did have to cut some of the plastic on the back right fender so the muffler tip had room to sit properly. Not sure if your model had that plastic molding. Thanks again, was a lot of help !!!
I’ve had this same exhaust on my 4Runner for a few months now. I freakin love it! There is some droning at higher speeds but you get used to it. At around 70mph it tends to go away but of course you run the risk of getting pulled over 😬 lol. Anyways enjoy!!
@@JASmith-oy8db It was well worth it. The sound is not too loud or annoying while driving and there is a small but noticeable increase in power in the lower gears. I saw a You Tube video of when Toyota was designing it and they explained it pretty well. I think it was worth it. I haven't purchased or installed the Pedal Commander, but hope to soon.
@@linux_admin2501 Sweet! Thanks for your thoughts! Glad to know more in advance. I'm personally not too worried about the sound, but I wonder about one my dogs who already struggles with motion sickness at speeds over 40mph. Hope he's okay with it, since we do a lot of driving.... Thanks again.
Love the low sound. Just installed the TRD CAI today. That works well with the Pedal Commander now just to get this exhaust installed!! Thanks for the awesome video!
At 1:51 you talk about removing the heat sheild. There is a second body heat sheild that is above the tailpipe. You can see it in the video. Not sure if the model year make a difference, but with my 2024 the second body heatsheild had to be rmoved to get the tailpipe out and the new one in.
Looks good! Love your videos, very informative. Can't wait til you review the exhaust. I've been looking at Borla, Gibson and TRD. Can't decide which one to get.
Did not know they had a TRD Exhaust with the side exit. I have been looking at getting the Gibson Exhaust solely for the side exit. It’s also duel pipes at the end and about $100 cheaper in the black tips finish or $150 less in stainless steal. But idk now. May spring for buying this. Idk I have a tough decision to make. 😅🤣 Dope video btw.
The 2 bolts at the tail pipe to muffler gave me trouble wtf, why are they welded at the nut side? Mine were so rusted at the head bolt side they stripped so I just sawed the stock muffler off to get it done and over with.
@Genner Yela same. Was looking to have the dealer install the exhaust and cold air intake but am concerned of check engine lights or issues with programming due to the changes. Just drove it off the lot this past Thursday

and the pedal commander installed too haha. I don’t see why it wouldn’t. Unless hangers are in a different spot. If you have a friend with a newer rig or a dealership near you, take a look under and match it to yours. I don’t see yours being different.
Cadilac converter? 😁 New exhaust sounds good, a little loud for me, but definitely nice to hear it. nice install video Jon! I'm having flashbacks to having to cut my pipe because the bolts were so rusted.

Butt dyno? I've got the S&B intake, which I think you still have. Noticeable difference in power? How do the pair sound & perform?

Totally agree! Honestly one of my main reasons for wanting to get it.
Ru Mazi with stock exhaust, the fumes enter from the rear window when open.
Really well. Took the dog to the dog park after I installed it, no fumes at all that I noticed when at the stoplight.

Wayyyyyy less. Even at red lights I’ve noticed less
Seems like the old exhaust had a better location. I don’t like where the TRD comes out to the side. Anyone cutting tips for better clearance?
