We run into black flies, mosquitoes and even deer flies, but it doesn't stop us from our goal of finding the adventure that only the wilderness provides.

We camp for 2 nights in our own private crown land spot and get the lake to ourselves. We set up a primitive smoker to cook our fresh caught trout. We enjoy wonderful camp meals cooked over the fire and even shoot the slingshot to keep our aim sharp for the coming hunting season.
We use google maps to find some potential hot spot lakes for backwaters trout that we hope no one else has explored previously.

I’m 48 years old living in the city. I’ve never hunted or fished but find you and Jeremy so entertaining to watch. It’s like my Nina skill to help me relax and fall asleep.

Heatwave with head nets, pant legs tapped up, and the blackflies/mosquitos swarming despite being drenched in Woodsman's Fly Dope.

I didn't check through the comments prior to comenting but if you put a homemade "toothpick" in the middle of the float (corky) down close to the hook it will keep your hook & bait off the bottom. Keep about 3 ' between the hook (Bait) and sinker. Fish on!!!

@@dan3nad Like ? Cali IS an arid zone with 3 desert regions, including the Mojave Desert, bounded by the Tehachapi Mountains to the northwest, the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains on the south, and eastward to California's borders with Arizona and Nevada.

Good thing about scorching heat and extreme humidity is no biting flies and skeeters get in the shade.

Hey mate, really love your vids. I'm from Australia, and at times black flies can be a pain, especially in the outback. However, next time you're in a situation like that... even though it was hot. Start a camp fire. The flies here pester us for our moisture. A fire drys the air around and keeps the flies. at bay. Hope it works over there ?

Last week i got a 26inch 5pounds walleyes on a lake near Latuque Qc, with only a hook and a worm on a sunny day it was awsome

You guys should look for a fiberglass rod with a "safety" flag (similar to a bicycle flag) to stick in the edge of water where you enter the lake. Even at dusk with a flashlight you can easily find your entry point.

Can't stand black flies. They got me good in the Kenai River a couple years ago. Fishing trip ended early that year after a trip to the emergency room. Haven't had the same reaction since then, so I'm fishing when possible!! Great video!

I live in WA State, we call those imitation egg things corkies. Definitely use them for Salmon in rivers. Hard to see my pic, but that's a 40+ lb. Chinook hanging next to me out of Salmon River in Oregon. Beautiful Rainbow, maybe someday I can get up that way and give it a go.

Great videos man. Watching this one right now. I noticed when you gutted that hog of a rainbow trout you threw the guts in the water have you thought of using those guys as crawfish bait? Put them about 6" in the water or so close to shore at night use a flashlight to try an spot them crawfish in them lakes. Would be a cool catch an cool video as well . Good job on your videos

@@TheWoodedBeardsman saw u made a few jokes about big foot but I’m actually wonder if u either actually saw one or had any weird encounters while u were out in the woods? There’s another guy from Canada who pretty much has a channel where he talks about Big foot 90% of the time and had like 10% actual fishing and hunting. The stories he tells are really out there and he never seems to have any decent pictures or video of one. What’s your thought on the subject if u don’t mind answering. I would think u of all people would have seen one doing 30 day challenges and spend most of your time in the bush.

The other guy talks about Bog Foot all the time saying he’s had many encounters with them but doesn’t have a single piece of evidence. Black flies or buffalo gnats as we call them here... are really bad here too June- mid July. Try burning lots of cedar... it may help. Coming from someone who drenches herself in cedarwood oil every summer lol
You guys should try 3-way rigging for the lake trout, simple and easy to pack method for getting down deep
