    This will fit a 2016 silverado, 5.3, z71?. I have painted metal bumpers on mine, i assume the grille will be a little easier to get off?. I have no plastic pieces on my bumper.

    I did my install today on my 2017 GMC Sierra and after watching the video the part thats the hardest is getting the damn trim off between the bumper and grill. Sort of skip through that on the video. A little more details on removing the trim would have been nice.

      @@teddybesplitinlanes5500 I also deleted the thermostat by installing a 1/4 pipe plug in place of the thermostat, so now I'm constantly circulating oil through the cooler (easy to do and you can find videos on it). Running around town without a load and short runs on the freeway temps haven't exceeded 120F with a 70-80F ambient. 90-100F same conditions but now cooler out ~40F. I haven't pulled anything substantial with the truck since the upgrade but its got to be a lot better off. The key is removing the thermostat as by the time it opens the temps run away. I got interested in this when my buddy with the same year truck cooked his tranny hauling a small tandem enclosed trailer through the mountains of Tennessee.

    This unit would of course be an add on aid aside from the original method of cooling oil through AC condenser correct? Ultimately having two methods of cooling oil ? Meaning when installing the mishimoto oil cooler, fluid will still flow through AC condenser and this unit in the video correct ?

      It is due to the AGS in the front of the radiator ... GM (in its stupidity) make the trans warm to the engine temp for smooth shifting. Engine/Trans logic keeps the shutter closed for both aerodynamics and for temp to hit the target. You have to up your trans maint cycles.

      @I Pronox:
      As you’ve stated yourself, you have not deleted the thermal bypass valve the temperature readings you got is obviously expected. The original thermal bypass is rated 90 °C (or 194 °F) which means the thermal bypass sends the fluid to the cooler when temperature reaches or exceeds 194 °F. Thanks to your newly installed auxiliary transmission fluid cooler the temperature wouldn’t exceed 199 °F.
      Either you’d have to delete the thermal bypass valve as advised by the creator of this video or watch another video that explains everything. Everyone that has GM pickup trucks of model years 2014-2018 as well as SUVs of 2015-2020 need to watch the video. Here it’s,
      th-cam.com/video/qM-it1z0_VA/w-d-xo.html
      You can see your options in the video depending on the kind of the thermal bypass valve your vehicle actually has. There’s a new technical service bulletin issued by GM about 10 months ago.
      gm-techlink.com/?p=15389
      For my 2018 Chevy Suburban, the existing pipeline fits the updated thermal bypass valve which is rated 70 °C (or 158 °F) and therefore, I’ve bought and installed that. In my opinion, instead of deleting the thermal bypass valve (because it has a purpose in cold climates or freezing seasonal conditions - very cold transmission fluid is just as bad as overheated one) it’s better to either install the updated thermal bypass valve (if your pipeline fits) or refurbish your existing one with a SureCool Cooling System Upgrade 2014-Up Superior STL010 for 6L80 - 6L90 - 8L90-10L90 transmissions, www.ebay.com/itm/254649501716/
      The updated thermal bypass valve’s part number is GM 86774933 along with a replacement Cooler Pipe Fitting Seal - part number GM 23135703, that cost me $81.56 and $4.91, respectively, at the GM authorized dealership.
      I still need an auxiliary transmission fluid cooler and hopefully tomorrow I’m gonna be installing a Hayden 516 cooler. I’m a bit intimidated by how to secure the cooler as it’s not going to be very easily securable as one in this video.
      Good luck!

    Hoping this is the answer to my transmission slipping and not going into gear😢 coolant is also dropping and overheating. If not gotta get a new transmission or torque converter.

    • @RevanCraft
      @RevanCraft 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      If it's dropping out of gear or slipping bad, after it's been running or driving a short piece, it's usually the torque converter lockup that's come apart and has dumped shavings into the pan clogging up the trans filter. If you drain the fluid, install new filter pickup, and have torque converter lockup completely disabled, it'll last you alot longer, as the next point of failure are the clutch packs inside trans and most people double the lifespan of trans simply by disabling torque converter lockup. But adding a cooler with the cooler bypass delete, definitely helps lengthen lifespan. The part number for the cooler bypass delete kit is STL010

    • @213funnyp
      @213funnyp 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @RevanCraft after about a hr driving one day, it stopped moving and making a winding or spinning noise by the tc/trans area. I would try to accelerate and the rpms would just redline without moving, so i got it towed. After the tow i was able to reverse and drive up my driveway. Haven't drove it since just in case it causes more damage to trans.

    • @213funnyp
      @213funnyp 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @RevanCraft update of greatness, before all my issues started i got a code to clean my throttle body, and truck was running hotter than usual. I cleaned the tb before and never had issues, so i never thought about having it relearned. I bout a $500 tablet for that and replaced the whole coolant system. Rpms went back to normal and overheating went away, but most important no slipping or shifting problems! Guess the tb was throwing off the torque converter or trans. After surfing youtube and walking into transmission shops idk how ive made it to 130k miles without a trans replacement after all those bad storys about chevy.

    Does this kit also work on a 2015 1500 Silverado with the H.D. cooling (RPO option L83) that also has the crappy aux cooler/a.c. condenser POS design. I would like to eliminate running through the radiator and aux cooler and just run it straight to your solid looking cooler assy. to clean up and simplify the setup as well as future serviceability? These Radiators almost always need to be replaced annually for core failure even after installing a redesigned thermostat that was supposed to fix this issue and doesn't!

      I also tow a 9000lb Toy Hauler... This is what brought me to this video.
      At 60-65mph , I can still reach 200F. I'm hoping this is the solution to keep it around 160F-180F while towing that weight.

    The transmission fluid does not appear to go in the radiator, it appears to be the top few rows of the ac condenser. GM's design of this is a bean counters wet dream, but doesn't work. Towing my trailer up mountain grades in 4HI I've seen my temps raise up to 285 degrees, somewhere in that region the TCM loses power and you get a MIL light and until you reset the DTC's and allow the trans to cool it will not allow you to drive anywhere. I just ordered my Mishimoto cooler and I'm going to bypass the thermostat and change the fluid and filter. I have 72k on my truck.

    What about plugs for the old transmission cooler holes in the radiator?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The transmission cooler in the radiator is not deleted and the cooler actually connects to these ports so no plugs are needed.

      @@mishimoto So what you are saying is the existing cooler is T'd into the new cooler and both used? Otherwise as Scot asked there would be open passages in the old cooler connection locations. Please clarify

      It comes out of trans, into the mishimoto cooler, then out of the cooler. After it comes out it goes thru the factory cooler. The mishimoto cooler is basically "in front" of the factory cooler, whereas the fluid goes thru it before going thru the factory. No open lines or anything.

      @@twp987 Thanks Tom . Did some researchI found the install on the web page. Generally you eliminate the factory cooler that is in the rad with higher temps since this truck its in the conden its worth keeping it inline. I wanted to confirm that is how this installs. Thanks all looks like a hefty cooler well designed. Will be ordering one since I tow often.

      @@twp987 Thanks for the Info. @Mishimoto should of had that included in their video. So the existing Transmissions lines will now flow directly to the new mishimoto cooler them back to the existing factory cooler that's located in-front of radiator. In other words; Then lines will go back to existing factory transmission cooler then back to the actual transmission it self. So there's no adapters or "Y" connections needed?

    Can this kit work with 2015 sierra 4.3 V6?

      @mishimoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This kit is specific to the V8 models and would not be compatible with the 4.3.

    Does it bypass the radiator or it is added?

    • @mishimoto
      @mishimoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a addition to the existing cooler within the radiator.
