Im from alice tx. But have family in mex and now live in the valley. Ive been listening to tejano music all my life. Culture passed without knowledge is hardly passed.
Lydia Mendoza (May 31, 1916 - December 20, 2007) was an American guitarist and singer of Tejano, conjunto, and traditional Mexican-American music. She is known as "La Alondra de la Frontera" (or "The Lark of the Border" in English).
La frontera de cristal! I love the corridos and conjunto of the Texas/Mexico borderlands. I am of German/Irish heritage and fluent in Spanish. Our cultures are so closely linked culturally, but so far geographically.
1. Texas wasn't 'snatched away from Mexico by the US', Texas won its independence from Mexico on the fields of San Jacinto. 2. Pancho Villa was not a hero to the Hispanics on the American side of the border. He would raid their property and take what he wanted. My Great-Grandfather would fight off Pancho Villa's raiders from the American side of the Rio Grande.
Diego Olivarez Texas was taken by a whole bunch of filibuster. Moreover, tejas won there independence after being defeated by Mexico by calling the United States for help.
I believe everyone in Texas knows that but if you are referring to New Jersey you are correct. 6th Generation here they just built the border around us.
no amigo it belonged to Tejanos not to Mexicano, Mexico government always left us to defend ourselves in the frontier to defend against French and British attacks we owe Mexico nothing, remember in the Texas revolution Tejanos faught against Mexico rule alongside the texiclan
God blees mexicans and latins.
America did not snatch texas from Mexico the US did. Mexico is in America as well as Brazil,, Argentina, etc. This notion that America is a country is just a doctrine taught is US schools and was began by the brits when they referred to the new world across the Atlantic. If only the US is America then South America is Texas , Alabama and Florida? South of the US border all the way to Patagonia we call US people United Staters or gringos.
A must see for all Mexicans and Mexican Americans alike!
and Texans. :)
