Years ago my wife and I backpacked to the West Rim Spring in Zion National Park. We were the only people camping. Did all the things like hang our food 100 yards away and didn't sleep in anything we wore cooking. I woke up in the middle of the night huffing/loud exhale just outside the tent. I lay completely still and almost didn't even breathe. Finally, what ever it was went away. I never mentioned to my wife because I didn't want to worry her. Like 5 or more years later we were with friends telling stories about camping etc and she told a story about something outside out tent at Zion and she didn't say anything to me that night because she didn't want me to worry. Still no clue what it was, but it sure sounded loud.
@duzer thanks for all the incredible content and inspiration!! Been sick and Duzer binging. Just finished the Florida series and now on SoCal Desert Ramble, with the Santa "Nanna" winds. How you could turn both the wind and losing your Grandmother in such a way to simultaneously drive you and fill you with love is just amazing. Thanks for showing us how its done.
Beautiful! The sound was just another T-Rex I guess. And what about it you're both highly trained pro cyclists, you can always still talk sense in to a monster. Divert it with candy...such. They're probably too scared of you Ryan. You're Ryan Hulk with his side kick Viking,...you can handle this! 🤩 You're ripping it!
HI RYAN & JABBA 👋 THE SCENERY WAS BREATHTAKING COLORS LANDSCAPE DRONE FOOTAGE & VIDEO 📹 THE PIZZA 🍕 LOOKED REALLY INVITING ! NICE MEETING PEOPLE A LONG THE WAY ON THEIR ADVENTURES TOO . BE SAFE ☺️ 🙏HAVE FUN ☺️ 🙏ENJOYED ❤☺️ 🙏GOD BLESS YOU BOTH ALWAYS ON YOUR ADVENTURES ☺️ 🙏THANK YOU ☺️ 🙏AWESOME SUNSETS & SUNRISE COLORS WITH THE LANDSCAPES ☺️ 🙏
I am a New Mexican and I've heard stories about something around Riley and Ladron Peak. The person told me said it made a strange screaming sound. IMO, there is something weird out there. High Strange New Mexico!
We enjoyed the VLA on a trip from Albuquerque to Tucson but even better was stopping at Pie Town a bit further west and eating pie with local farmers and church goers. Cheers from Scotland.
I live in Los Lunas, NM and ride a (motor)bike on those same roads. It's surprising how long you can ride before encountering another person. Also, I have had that snow surprise before riding up Mt. Withington in 80 degree heat to find slushy snow at the top.
Great gravel, great smack talk from the Jabba 😅 Awesome scenery. Awesome interaction with the hikers. Thanks for another "Three-course meal" 😂❤ Cheers, Tony.
Sweet video from NM, thanks! That snoring bear must of been snuggled down near your tents. Hopefully he fixed breakfast for you guys. Hey, best of luck on your Divide ride coming up. That's where you might hear and see Mama Grizz or Mr. Grizz. Especially along Elk River Rd north of Elkford, and west of Yellowstone in that area near Squirrel River. Happy trails!☮
A couple of high plains drifters. The sound is definitely Ryan’s stomach from all the beans in his diet. Ryan’s future trail name should be Frijolito for obvious reasons. Great vid as always. Keep ‘em coming.
Ahhh I love this series so much. This one and the GDMBR that goes through the Gila are really my top two must-do bike trips in the whole US and I'm glad I get to live vicariously through you until I have time to actually go do them!! So cool. As an aside, I still am not getting notifications, even though I have "all" turned on :( But I know when the show comes out so I tune in on Sunday mornings! Good luck on the Tour Divide!!
Great interview of the hiking couple, you asked some great questions. 👍I reckon the night noise was a bear, but what do I know? ... I live in Australia but I do know If I heard that, I wouldn’t sleep a wink for rest of night and probably need a change of underpants!😂😮
I lived in NM for 11 years and now I feel cheated I never did any of this stuff! Now I guess I have a reason to go back and check it out! Definitely want to do this ride you guys did. Was cool seeing Magdalena again. When I was there, all they had was a new high school, and a drive thru liquor store! You had to go to socorro to get your groceries!
Deffentantly a bear lol do you guys where padded bike shorts on these long rides? I want to build up my miles and try out bike packing, longest ride this year is 22 miles!
One question: what's the difference between a crashy and a whammy? 😁 You know, they make those air horns on a compressed air can, for situations like this where you have to scare off a dragon.
Probably not supposed to fly the drone that close to the VLA, they even want you to turn phones off etc to not interfere with the radio telescopes. Ah well, we’ll let this one slide since your footage is so gorgeous. Ride on!
I'm not getting your notifications lately Ryan, I tried unsubscribing and resubscribing so I hope that works! Awesome episode once again Ryan, what a landscape and that sunset was to die for👌
Those wide open spaces will be gone unless people actively protect them. A lot more of them used to exist in this country and once gone they don't come back. I think in a few generations the only way to have any isolation will be National Parks, which is a shame in my opinion.
What do you think, was it a bear? Or a Chupacabra? No matter what it was, a sound like that at 1am is a spooky way to be woken up.
That sounded like a cougar. You might have had a puma checking you out.
Lions Tigers and Bears oh my!
Cow with indigestion
it was a jabba!
th-cam.com/video/1B2vCw4cGdw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LUWcYZGe4CMo72lm&t=100 Cows do growl.
it was a jaguar sniffing you two guys. Amazing, that they're now that far north.

Jabbacabra for sure

Sounded almost like a mountain lion growl.......The guttarul one they make......
bigger...jag
Greetings from Uzbekistan!!! Great video, guys!!!
Thank you for watching my videos!!!
The noise I think was Jabba inhaling his tent door while snoring.
hahahahaha
"We're gettin' through some "stuff" - the nice couple hiking!! I love this!! Nature is recommended for any partnership to "get through some stuff" 🤟
They were fun to talk to, and I imagine that they did indeed get through some stuff ;)
my wife and I started riding together in this past year and it has made us closer for sure!
@@LarissaLemos-qp1wv My money is on Java versus either!
@@jimdolen225 That's awesome!
Nothing better than a couple spending time in the woods.
indeed!

Avengers! Assemble!!! haha. Luring it with candy is a good idea ;)
Rocking it on the rocking chair….
The journey is the reward!
So true!
That Grand Enchantment trail is the hardest of trails. Very remote.
It seems like a beast!

Bear. I'm loving this series. This route is now on my list.
Thanks! It’s a great route
Did you check for footprints?
We didn't.
I am a New Mexican and I've heard stories about something around Riley and Ladron Peak. The person told me said it made a strange screaming sound. IMO, there is something weird out there. High Strange New Mexico!
Oooh, now I'm even more spooked, haha

Pie Town is awesome!
Love you 2 guys together lol ❤

That was BIGFOOT.... lol....

Thanks!
Thank you so much for your generosity!!!
I love your amazing adventures. And java is incredible. Such a beautiful spirit. Thanks for sharing this with us.
He's such a great guy, so glad that we got to do this adventure together!
I absolutely love your videos. They are so uplifting. Thank you so much.
I was on Withington two weeks ago! I’m bummed you couldn’t make it up there! Was looking forward to seeing footage of y’all on a place I run.
Darn it!!! I really wanted to get up there
Great gravel, great smack talk from the Jabba 😅
Awesome scenery. Awesome interaction with the hikers. Thanks for another "Three-course meal" 😂❤
Cheers, Tony.
Jabba is good at the smack talk :)
You guys are the best! Reminds me of any great buddy movie. Love the adventure. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!! We definitely had a blast out there
This whole ride is one of the most beautiful places you've filmed. WOW! I concur, your trail name should be ¡Frijoles!
Frijoles!!! I’ll take it ;)
That was a beautiful section. Always looks like a good time.
It really is!
running into those long range hikers was awesome!
I agree! They were so fun to chat with

I hope to not encounter any bears out there 😂😂😂 but gonna a rattlesnake any day
Jaba snoring 😂😂😂
GREAT.
Love the duet of HOWLING at the 23:03 mark.
Owww oww oooooo, oowww owwww ooooh 🌴👍💪owooooooo.
That sunset inspired some howls!
Beautiful day and great scenery with all the animals!😍 Everything always works out in the end!👍😊
It sure does!
Bikepackers in the North East and south definitely do trail names!
I hope that trend continues west!
Fantastic video and I wish I was right there with you guys
Glad that you could virtually join us!
A couple of high plains drifters. The sound is definitely Ryan’s stomach from all the beans in his diet. Ryan’s future trail name should be Frijolito for obvious reasons. Great vid as always. Keep ‘em coming.
I like that name and I'll proudly wear it!
When I was stationed in Turkey there was a bike hashing club and they all had nicknames.
That's cool!
This series is rad! Hola from El Paso!
So glad that you’re enjoying it!! We were close to you

Beautiful golden hour!! ☀☀☀
Yes it was!
The antelope herds in NM are awesome
They sure are!!
Always enjoy your videos I would love to one day go on a bike packing trip.
We were going to move to Prescott az. A week later the story of only the brave happened
Such a sad story :(
You got so close to Pie Town.
Epic!
How could there be power in the ghost town?
Cow was snoring ;)
hahaha, true!
Me and my bike traveling buddies all have trail names.
That’s cool!

Chupacabras apareció de nuevo?jajajaj
Siempre!!
Dang straight
Good interview
Thanks! They were fun to talk to
Dude I love this content
Glad to hear that! We had a blast out there. It’s been fun to share
Woah. That sounds was the Chupacabras. It only eats goats.
Was curious about Java's aero bars. I have a priority 600X as well and I enjoy it. Enjoy all your videos keep them coming.
😊
His are the Wren Persuader bars
@@duzer Thank You
What osprey backpack your using?
Raptor 14
Here for the rocking chairs
😂😂 the action sequence that everyone wants ;)
Mount Withington is one of my favorite climbs in the state. Bummed y’all missed it.
Darn it!!! I'll get back there another time
Does Jabba use a Priority 600 also 😁 Phenomenal Day on the Bicycle 🚴♂️😎🌞
Yep, the 600x
Deffentantly a bear lol do you guys where padded bike shorts on these long rides? I want to build up my miles and try out bike packing, longest ride this year is 22 miles!
Yep, we do indeed wear padded shorts
It was a graboid!!!
great video gentlemen!!
Thank you kindly!
Yup a Chupacabra for sure😅
I think so too!
I think the animal growling near your tent may have been a Bull. They growl low and deep.
Did you hear anything sounds of it walking?
What's the name of your favorite protein bar? I saw it in a recent video but now I can't find it again.
Barebells
👍👍👍
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Gotta ask about you pipe clamps on your forks. Do they slip? Do you have to readjust them often? Thank you and great video series.
They were solid as a rock!
What we have here boys is a samsquatch.
Bubbles would be proud!
hahaha
It was the chupacabras
I think so too 😂
One question: what's the difference between a crashy and a whammy? 😁

Dragon attacks are definitely a whammy
@@duzer 😆
Are you going to bring the razor on the tour divide? 😂
Yes ;)
Bear 🏕️🧸
I’m on team bear too!
I noticed that you never hesitate to park your bike outside unattended or locked up , do you ever worry about theft ??
I don't, and have luckily never had a problem. Small town america is pretty chill
Probably not supposed to fly the drone that close to the VLA, they even want you to turn phones off etc to not interfere with the radio telescopes. Ah well, we’ll let this one slide since your footage is so gorgeous. Ride on!
haha, I wondered about that, but I didn't see any signs.
Yeah, drone use is strictly prohibited at the VLA. Live and learn.
Don't forget to go to Hachita Food Mart in Hachita for some rest, refreshments, relaxing and some good communication with good folks. 😊❤
You know it (on the Divide route)
That scary Noise in the Dark sounds like a toothless Mountain Lion
Never can be too careful, lots of toothless tweaker mountain lions out there!
haha, poor guy
I'm not getting your notifications lately Ryan, I tried unsubscribing and resubscribing so I hope that works! Awesome episode once again Ryan, what a landscape and that sunset was to die for👌
Weird!! I hope that all this gets worked out soon. Thanks for trying to help!

Mountain lion
Yikes!
My pops was a marine and he would snore you put of the house.
😂😂
Mountain lion
"No scum" haha!! #Magdalena
so funny
Sounds like some serious bean gas. 🤣
😂😂😂 probably
A couple as friends. Don’t get it twisted 😂
😂😂
Exactly dont twist stuff around
Sounds like a mountain lion
After seeing what Jabba buys to eat I'm sure that sound was his intestines.
hahahaha
Jaguar
Solo hiking or camping is when I can really connect with myself and God.
I hear you
Probably a cougar, but don’t worry if you’re over 35 haha !!
🤣🤣
Sounds like a bull following a cow in heat.
🤚 more please
Coming right up!
Noise: Jabba flatulence. Jab-ulence. Sounds like a bear. True story.

VLA was in Contact with Jodi Foster.
That sounded like a bull cow to me.
Sorry guys. That sound was my stomach. I was looking for my pop tarts, but I couldn’t find them fast enough. My bad. 😂
hahaha
