Henry Cavill could probably sue amazon for doing this to him. they knew his background and his values when they took him on .... they knew what happened with the Witcher .... they knew he likes to stick to lore and cares about the integrity of the original lore ...... they roped him into a project and made him put his energy and his name on the line and then months down the line started changing the rules, in ways that would damage the whole project and eventually ruin Henry Cavill career and plans for the project. its pretty much sabotage. they are sabotaging the project and Henry cavils career. which will lead to Henry Cavill losing earnings from their self sabotage.
I assume the guy signed a contract. Considering what he already went threw in Witcher etc didn't he have his terms for that contract? If he didn't put contract terms about having the final word in lore changes etc then is kind of his fault for being too naïve.
@@SIPEROTH im sure there are expectations, reasonable expectations that the persons in the contract shouldn't engage in behaviours that could destroy the very thing they are contracting into, thereby harming the other people in the contract. @liamrebel9447, even if you had a rock solid case, it might be a waste of time and resources. Amazon has plenty of lawyers and more money than God. They could just draw out the proceedings for so long that it bleeds you dry. If it turns into a war of attrition, they win every time. I'm not saying don't fight if someone does you wrong just because they're wealthy. Just choose the battles carefully. Also, maybe he thinks he can still save the show by staying. Rather than leaving and being replaced with someone who isn't a fan and having it go completely off the rails.
@@jaxonfreeman1756 It would depend on the wording of the contract itself and any and all amended changes by all involved, and lets be clear Cavill isn't the IP owner so his power over the IP isn't really in his hands which means GW in collusion with Amazon are trying to fuck him over and it cuts him off at the knees from a litigation standpoint. Most likely with him signing a contract with GW prior to GW signing a contract with Amazon and GW being on the hook for contract deviation/infringement and not Amazon. It also depends on who has creative control of the project in contractual terms with Cavill having a minimal say by proxy of the other parties i.e. GW and Amazon agreeing to certain changes and Cavill being the holdout but also being contractually obligated to the project.

Eventually the player will either have to accept it or give up being a fan altogether. That is what happened with me and Star Wars. Eventually I couldn’t even enjoy the OT or the other content I liked. Now I admit I am just no longer a fan because the content being put out does not speak me whatsoever, and if people enjoy that BS they can have it.

If they want to stay afloat, they have to protect their customer base. GW is far more vulnerable to fan backlash than Lucasfilm. (BTW I have the same view as you do on Star Wars).

Games Workshop SOLD OUT and betrayed themselves and their fans. Choosing to not go ahead with the show and make it known to their fans that they care more about the lore, would have been a better move, eventually some other tv network would have wanted the show deal while respecting GW and the fanbase.

In the 8th codex there is an excerpt: "It is known that all custodians begin their lives as the infant SONS of the noble houses of Terra. I don't think there is any explicit stating no females, but there isn't anything saying there have been any either until now.

The thing that upsets me the most, is that I love Adepta Sororitas. It's the faction I collect, filled with so many strong females which they could've drawn from if they really wanted to. You nailed it. This is being driven by institutional investors. Primarily mutual fund and ETF investment money where the institutional investor uses the individual investors money to buy shares and vote those shares on their behalf. This gives them HUGE political power, using other people's money. VERY FEW PEOPLE are talking about this phenomena. It started to show up a couple of decades ago, with "socially conscious investing" as the first indoctrinated executives started to gain management control of these companies. I remember the first mutual funds that were created for "socially conscious" investing. It was obvious to me at the time that these funds were not created to maximize growth for the individual investors in those funds, it was to create a tool for progressive social change and political power. From there it has gained steam across the board at these companies. It's very dangerous, because now they're using the private sector to push far left progressive political ideas. The fund managers don't care if the entertainment companies leave money on the table by not maximizing profits, as long as they can manage not to go bankrupt, because they spread the underperformance across many different fund portfolios, and it's the not their money. So long as their other positions can make up for the underperformance or loss. Politics is downstream of culture. Capturing popular culture is a valuable tool to fundamentally change society. That is their angle of attack, and it's working. They're radicalizing pockets of the population.

There has been no official word from Cavill, which essentially means he's most likely not against it at all-Cavill would have said something by now. He has not.
Did Gamesworkshop forgot to inform amazon about the sisters of silence? Aside from them being blank (anti-psychers), i always view them as the female version of the custodes. They are always at the emperor's side meaning they have the same standards as the custodes. That makes them greater than the astartes. Why can't amazon focus on them instead of retconning the custodes? Why did they pick such trouble?
Because they're, well, silent. They don't speak, so that's a problem. BUT theoretically you could get deaf representation and female representation by allowing them to communicate through sign language (wouldn't be much of a lore change). It makes sense that Amazon wouldn't give a damn about ruining Games Workshop's image among their customer base. As GW's stock and coffers empty Amazon would be in a good position to acquire it wholesale for pennies on the dollar. It's a win-win for them. GW should have just said "Zog it! We's walking." and dump the deal. In all likelihood would have earned them more respect from the customer base who at the end of the day keep them in business.

@@kronos0316which books? I read a lot of black library, and I haven't really noticed there being a huge identity politics push. I see it, in their releases and their advertising. But aside from the same garbage GW has been doing for decades to the lore, I really have not noticed much in the way of identity based lore. There was an Ork novel with some female mechanicus, but those chicks got scrapped. There were a couple female inquisitors in some recent novels, but female inquisitors have existed since rogue trader. In fact, despite their weird obsession for making space Marines and custodians into women despite the lore, the imperium has always had a lot of women already, especially in the artwork. Which is exactly why I don't understand why we need more.
Henry is a human, and has the luxury to stand up for ideas. Much respect. Businesses like Amazon and Games Workshop worship money in the end. I've been buying less and less from them as time goes on, but I'm just a nobody. Still, really glad that folks like Henry still are around. Embracer Group with Tolkien Estates has the rights for Silmarllion and the only Book that can't do as movie or tv series. If they do, it be considered Copyrights. So a lot had to change so it wouldn't fit Silmarllion lore and storyline to avoid Copyright laws. That is why Power of Ring didn't do so well and did their own storyline.

Amazon in the leak was said to have flat out reject sisters of Battles and Sisters of Silence, sisters of Battle to amazon was considered to religions and does not reflect modern female representation, Sister of Silence by their rule of not allowed to speak is a big no no. They Also wanted a female that is not just powerful in power armor but also super powered out of it. In addtion Sensei is not fully retcon in 40k to begin with.

Keep your early additions Warhammer 40K fans. Those books have just risen their value. Even if Game Workshop reprints their edition, I doubt you will pay for them. Dungeons and Dragons fans had early additions of TSR and those that were kept in mint condition like comics had high trade value. That is until WOTC reprinted some of those editions or released in digital for purchase which dropped those values. But since Hasbro attacked the Fans, I think those original books at mint condition have become rare valuables again. Because who would want to spend money on Hasbro reprints Yes?
WOKE: It commonly refers to situations or people who value "social justice" more than conventional wisdom and/or common sense. For example, DEI is considered 'woke' because you obviously want to hire/promote the best person for the job. That's common sense. They could just draw out the proceedings for so long that it bleeds you dry. If it turns into a war of attrition, they win every time. Most likely with him signing a contract with GW prior to GW signing a contract with Amazon and GW being on the hook for contract deviation/infringement and not Amazon. It also depends on who has creative control of the project in contractual terms with Cavill having a minimal say by proxy of the other parties i.e. GW and Amazon agreeing to certain changes and Cavill being the holdout but also being contractually obligated to the project.

I highlighted the quote because it's a smaller part of a larger core of the Warhammer 40k mythos and lore that Games Workshop has in recent years been changing, retconning and quietly or loudly removing.
That core mythos, that vulgarity and fascination with the 'other', the extreme satire is what propelled Warhammer 40k into the phenomenon that it is today. In the 8th codex there is an excerpt: "It is known that all custodians begin their lives as the infant SONS of the noble houses of Terra. It is a mark of incredible prestige to surrender one's child to this most glorious of callings within the Imperium, and many notable clans amongst the Terran aristocracy have willingly given up almost entire generations of newborn SONS to earn it." I don't think there is any explicit stating no females, but there isn't anything saying there have been any either until now.

Primarily mutual fund and ETF investment money where the institutional investor uses the individual investors money to buy shares and vote those shares on their behalf. This gives them HUGE political power, using other people's money. VERY FEW PEOPLE are talking about this phenomena. It started to show up a couple of decades ago, with "socially conscious investing" as the first indoctrinated executives started to gain management control of these companies. I remember the first mutual funds that were created for "socially conscious" investing. It was obvious to me at the time that these funds were not created to maximize growth for the individual investors in those funds, it was to create a tool for progressive social change and political power. From there it has gained steam across the board at these companies. It's very dangerous, because now they're using the private sector to push far left progressive political ideas.
The fund managers don't care if the entertainment companies leave money on the table by not maximizing profits, as long as they can manage not to go bankrupt, because they spread the underperformance across many different fund portfolios, and it's the not their money. So long as their other positions can make up for the underperformance or loss. Politics is downstream of culture. Capturing popular culture is a valuable tool to fundamentally change society. That is their angle of attack, and it's working. They're radicalizing pockets of the population.

As GW's stock and coffers empty Amazon would be in a good position to acquire it wholesale for pennies on the dollar. It's a win-win for them. GW should have just said "Zog it! We's walking." and dump the deal. In all likelihood would have earned them more respect from the customer base who at the end of the day keep them in business.

But aside from the same garbage GW has been doing for decades to the lore, I really have not noticed much in the way of identity based lore. There was an Ork novel with some female mechanicus, but those chicks got scrapped. There were a couple female inquisitors in some recent novels, but female inquisitors have existed since rogue trader. In fact, despite their weird obsession for making space Marines and custodians into women despite the lore, the imperium has always had a lot of women already, especially in the artwork. Which is exactly why I don't understand why we need more.

Embracer Group with Tolkien Estates has the rights for Silmarllion and the only Book that can't do as movie or tv series. If they do, it be considered Copyrights. So a lot had to change so it wouldn't fit Silmarllion lore and storyline to avoid Copyright laws. That is why Power of Ring didn't do so well and did their own storyline.

They Also wanted a female that is not just powerful in power armor but also super powered out of it. In addtion Sensei is not fully retcon in 40k to begin with.

Keep your early additions Warhammer 40K fans. Those books have just risen their value. Even if Game Workshop reprints their edition, I doubt you will pay for them. Dungeons and Dragons fans had early additions of TSR and those that were kept in mint condition like comics had high trade value. That is until WOTC reprinted some of those editions or released in digital for purchase which dropped those values. But since Hasbro attacked the Fans, I think those original books at mint condition have become rare valuables again. Because who would want to spend money on Hasbro reprints Yes?
