Looks like a great setup! I recently got a used Dometic, so now I’ve been having to consider power options like either a Jackery or a 2nd ‘house’ battery on the vehicle. Great info here, very helpful. Thanks!
I bought both the Jackery 1500 and ARB Elements based on this review. Thanks! I just got back from a 7 day camping trip, and it worked great. I was camping on the Oregon coast, so the weather was mid 60's days and low 50's night. My site had full sun ... when not overcast. On full sun days a single Solar Saga 100w panel would have the battery recharged by 2:00 PM. On cloudy days, I hit 100% towards the end of the day. The fridge typically would lower the Jackery to 85% overnight. I was lucky to have the low ambient temperatures, but on the drive back to CA I did stay in a hotel where the car sat in 100 degree heat and I didn't put out the panel because it was already 5:00 PM (but still 104 degrees!). The Jackery kept the ARB cool at 33 and was down to 74% by the morning. It's a great setup, and I thank you again for doing this video. Best part of all of this was ... no more dealing with food ruined by melted ice.
Nicholas, so glad this worked out for you. They are both great products. You do have to be careful in very hot temps experienced in vehicles. My Jackery actually shut down once in the middle of a very hot afternoon while positioned in the cab of my truck. Since then I now use a sun screen for the windshield and crack my windows slightly. ....and I totally agree, not being dependent on ice is fantastic! Thanks again for watching and commenting on your experience.
I have a Goal Zero Yeti 1500w and powered a dometic CFX 35 just using the goal zero on an all day adventure today keeping things chilled to 30-32 all day for cold drinks and food. 9am-9pm and it drained to 75% today. Going to try freezing experiment that’s similar soon. My dometic was full. Hope that helps. Thanks again for all your videos. I have the ikamper skycamp mini, diamond back cover and triple front runner rack due to your awesome info. Considering annex and roam containers soon. Love a video on a garage pulley system for tent.
Hi Ron, Thanks for your support. Looks like we have similar set ups (glad I could help). Let's keep comparing notes. The Goal Zero / Dometic combo you have was what I initially wanted. The only reason I went with the ARB was for the additional mounting option of a hitch mount with a swingout in which the fridge would be exposed all of the time. So I guess I traded costs a bit. The ARB was more expensive than the Dometic but the Jackery was cheaper than the Goal Zero. In regard to your depletion on the Goal Zero, I will have better data to compare once I take it out like you have. I'm not sure of the delta when opening the fridge more often, some time in partial sun, and the contents depleting over a weekend. BTW, take a look at this condensation mat for your Ikamper Mini. amzn.to/3fjoDoG It is a perfect fit, and the shell will still close if you only fold the excess on top of the lower mattress and not over both when putting it up.
@@WeekendOverland Ah gotcha. Makes sense. What I'd really like to do is a secondary power setup in the back with a battery(s) that charge up when the truck is running and can power the dometic and other stuff in the bed of the truck when I'm not moving. Or solar panels on a rack above the cab. Thank you for the C-mat recommendation. I'll go order them now.
@@RonMillar @Ron Millar I am in the process of running a 12V connection from the main battery to the truck bed (ARB and Dometic both have a kit for this). For now I will plug my Jackery into the 12V connection and the fridge into the Jackery. This will work well while I am driving with the Jackery staying charged by the truck's alternator but will have to disconnect the Jackery from the 12V port when parked. The 12V in the cab would work great since it automatically turns off when switch is off.
USC airman Thanks for watching. I like this set up a lot. I am now contemplating a full bed slide or just a slide for the fridge .......... or an external mount to the hitch. Decisions, decisions.
Cool test! I am waiting for my EP500 from Bluetti. Overkill, yes. But I'm looking to power a small AC as well. As soon as I have all the components, I'll run some tests and see how long it can last. I'll let you know for sure! Awesome video as usual!
Thanks again for watching Darthro1G! Bluetti makes great products as well. I seriously considered them and Goal Zero. Yes please let me know what you find when you test it out.
I ran a similar test with same battery but Iceco JP50, full of food, started pre chilled. Ambient temps were 70 during day, 66 at night (indoors). 6 full days to 15% battery. I’d bet I’d be at 5 days too with 10 deg warmer ambient.
Thanks for the feedback. There are so many variables but at least the tests give you a good baseline to plan by. Now we need more data from the field!!! Have fun out there!
Thank you for this review, very interesting and well made... thas give a good idea for my set up .. I have a Tacoma Offroad, built for Overland. I juste put ARB CLASSIC II 50QT fridge freezer. And I m gonna put like you a power station, (whit portable solar panel ) .. EcoFlow Delta Mini . So with you review thas give me a good idea about the capability. Thank s again. I m gonna follow you re review 👍👍👍
I see you have a raptor as do I. An off the topic question. Did you change the leaf springs to account for additional weight. If so what kind did you go with. I have a Raptor and am needing to upgrade my leaf springs. I’m going to be adding approximately 800 more pounds of payload with my camper top, roof top tent, decked system, and supplies.
Toni, great question of which I am currently in the middle of as well. I am about to add a Cargo Ease bed slide that will add another 180Lbs and I feel the same about the existing leaf springs. I hope to have an answer soon. Let me know what you find out as well. The other option I am looking into is air bags instead of increasing my leaf spring capacity.
I love this guys ... But just for some help for when i get my van ... once the battery on the jackery is like super low how will i be able to keep the fridge cool once charging the jackery up again what do people do ?
Adam, You can set up the system to charge the Jackery when your Van is moving (from a 12V output on your Van) and then run independently when the Van is parked. If you plan to have it parked for a few days, you can invest in the solar panels to assist in charging the Jackery.
Hi LB thanks for tuning in again. I am going to set it up in the bed. I am considering either a dedicated slide just for the fridge or a complete bed slide like the Cargo Ease Opa (www.cargo-ease.com/products/opa-slide-1000lbs?variant=38029470335168) It has the lowest profile I've seen so far.
Yes, you are correct. There are so many variable to consider. After having this system in use on a few trips, a big factor is ambient temp and direct sunlight. Thanks for watching.
Can you run a multi-socket 12v adapter thru the single 12v outlet on the jackery? For instance if I wanted to power a fridge and fan at the same time which both run off of 12v ? Thanks.
Great question. I was actually just looking into this the other day and yet to have a definitive answer. You can easily find power splitters but not sure yet how effective it is in powering something that pulls quite a bit of power. The search continues......
Mine works on an ELECTRIC ROTOR TILLER, and I have used my drills, saws and other regular tools with out any problems. This battery is BUILT TOUGH! It's heavy and I think it will work. You can dnload the specs from Jackery!
I bought arb elements 63qt from an official dealer of Kazakhstan. I put one kilogram of frozen product inside. I set the temperature to -15. It took 36 hours to reach it. Is that normal!? any Chinese version does it in 70 minutes. Shit in a beautiful case or I got a marriage! ?
I purchased the same elements fridge in 2019 and it stopped working in August of 2022. This fridge is extremely expensive and not worth the money. Don’t buy it, it sucks.
Hi SMJ. Yes that definitely sucks. What part stopped working. I have had mine for just over a year and it is still going strong. I assume you contacted them for support. Sometimes, even when out of warranty, companies that make high end products will work to keep you satisfied.

Thanks SF, now we must take this setup on the road for the real test!!
This is awesome. With the solar panel out, you could easily run a fridge and charge phones etc. Thanks for the test.
