Very Cool Rear Awning Mount on My Raptor with a RTT

With my overlanding setup, most of the activity is at the tailgate. Therefore I needed a rear awning for protection from rain and sun. The challenge was mainly creating enough height when mounting off the truck bed cover. You seem like a thoughtful dude but you’re a gear junkie filling empty space in your new toy w/ any & every piece of gear that looked cool on Amazon. Fatal projectiles galore in that cab if you crash. So much random stuff in that truck that when you do need something, you’ll probably forget that you have it. At the very least get the heavy loose stuff out of the cab & into your Roam case. Group like things together & put them in labeled pouches or cases.

Camping nowadays is putting most of your mind on stuff, very little of your mind on adventure. Take your regular water jug from Walmart. Oh no, you'd miss on all the excitement. Don't take me wrong. I was like that. I've just gotten over it.

this is ridiculous how you need to have a million tools, metal drills, know-how, time, and all the other crap to mount a tent to a tonneau cover. I guess Tourtop is the only company actually forward thinking enough to take a ton of steps out and just make it all inclusive without having to be Tim the Tool Man Taylor.

So, this video is 3 yrs old at this point…I’m curious if you’ve pared down the amount of crap you tote around in your truck or if you’ve continued to purchase every gizmo and gadget available and thrown it in your truck to the point that there’s likely no longer any room for people inside. I’ve been there but at some point, you have to realize how many items you pointed out only to say you’re just waiting to see what you might see it for or you have it there but don’t use it. And I challenge you to describe the scenario where you will utilize ten pair of gloves…. I’m a knife nut myself, but I know I don’t need to have a dozen knives scattered thru the truck. When you have a bunch of crap you’ve never used and never will asking up priority space in your truck but have your fire extinguisher mounted at the front of your bed underneath a cover where there’s no way in hell you’ll access it without any kind of trouble or delay, maybe it’s time to do some rearranging and realistic prioritization. There’s always some chance you’ll be a hero because you have some random obscure thing that nobody else has on them, but more likely you’ll be that guy who digs thru endless mountains of crap in the truck for an hour only to realize you don’t even have a basic tool kit for in case you have a minor mechanical issue and you can’t even tighten a loose bolt, swap out a tail light bulb, or adjust tension on a belt that’s going to leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere. Two holsters on your pistol and a dozen or so masks in four different places…but no method for securing your firearm if you must leave it in the truck…which I would wager happens regularly. Don’t arm the criminals. I’m sure soon enough the grabbers will pass laws making you lose carry rights if you have one stolen. And that truck is just begging to be broken into. I guarantee if I was in a situation that made it necessary, your truck would be a priority target. Who are you going to communicate with when you have both of your radios in your truck? Would it make sense to set one up at the house, or the wife’s vehicle in case you ever needed to actually use them? Living on the gulf coast, I’ve been hung up in endless evacuation traffic trying to get home and seen cell service crash mire than once. Having radios in multiple locations is the only way they are worth anything. But mounting them up high in the open is nice of you so the thieves can get a good idea of what they’ll be taking to the pawn shop later. Not trying to be a dick. Well…it just comes naturally. But I really do have good intentions and have been that guy that tries to have everything with him at all times and it’s just not possible and it distracts from what’s really needed.

The bag is a cool concept, but some of these Made in America canvas and velcro tool companies seem to be taking people for a ride. It shouldn't cost $10 but it also shouldn't cost $200. Atlas is guilty of this as well. I went and bought a sewing machine and canvas to make my own.😂
