I've been in nz for the last few years. I'm now building a camper. Stumbled on this vid and the black country accent was a nice surprise. makes me miss home a bit.
Wow! NZ! Amazing 👏🏻 Are you on the North or South Island? .. We have been to the North Island and explored there in a Jucy Camper! (Wellington to Auckland) It was awesome and would love to go back to NZ some time and explore the South Island 😁 What camper are you building? Are you far along with your build? Awww, that's cool. It's not very often that the black country accent is described as a nice surprise haha! So thank you 😁

hi just a note don't forget to vent at the bottom of the gas bottle as gas lays at floor level when it escapes you need it to drop out the van floor, best wishes ken great build love you both a very nice couple enjoy......
This is important. An amazing build! However be safe, get yourselves a carbon monoxide detector and look up the gas regs: The standard that applies to campervans is BS EN 1949: 2001 + A1:2013. Note that LPG gasses are heavier than air, so will form a ‘puddle’ on the ground in the event of a leak. Floor vents must be kept clear and unobscured. Gas bottles should be kept in a metal locker with a drop vent. If your van is registered as a converted camper and you don’t have this your insurance could be voided.
Its been great watching you convert this Caddy Maxi Van. Is it possible for you to show more of the actual dimensions for the bed and cupboard unit that you built
Hi Ivor, thanks for this. Ye sure, I cant remember if it was this video or our realistic van tour that we included these in. Our bed is 160cm long and 60 cm wide (as a bench) and then pulls out a further 50cm to make a bed. We have built a cooker draw at the bottom of the bed which also extends the one side by a further 50cm. The cupboard i think is 135cm long 75cm tall and roughly 35cm deep. I hope this helps
Seriously guys that was f epic! I've been wanting to get a caddy but all the videos of camperising them are rubbish, you managed to packed claudia with a lot of features while still maintaining a minimalistic look. Claudia looks fantastic!

We did have a leg to prop up the cooker just no space to have it fixed to the draw. @@marykenna5778 sorry only just seen this. Thankyou for your kind comments. Yes Claudia is deffinenatly practical for us. Safe travels and adventures to the both of you too. Cheers 👍
🤣 To be fair, having 2 sets of ideas works well. There's things we have done that make Claudia work well for us that if only one of us had made the decision on we wouldn't have her the way she is 😆
Great job on Your conversion of Claudia. A thoroughly enjoyable watch from start to finish. Your attention to detail was amazing. Awning and 6 person living space gives You both so much extra room. 2 questions, how long did the whole conversion take? How much did it cost overall? I hope You both have many happy safe adventures
Thankyou for your kind words. It took about 3.5 months to complete. We tookour time just working on her on weekends (and the electrics & carpet been booked in) to make sure nothing was rushed. We have lost track on the price as we ended up adding loads of extras
Thankyou. The thermo wrap insulation & sound deading sheets are off ebay. The vapor resistance membrane was already in the van but I'm sure this can be purchased on ebay to. Hope this helps
Really cool conversion, was wondering what length bed you used so that you had space for the slide out cooker as I want to do something similar in my caddy, cheers :)
So impressed, subscribe! Nice to see a conversion that isn’t trying to hide the fact she is now a fully fledged camper van! You should be very proud. Just a quick question, what sort of ballpark figure did the conversion cost? Kind regards from deepest Dorset 👍
Thank you very much Clive! We appreciate your kind comment 😁 Our conversion cost after buying Claudia cost us somewhere around the 5-6k mark but we have also added more tweaks since then which is on our realistic van tour video. We hope the price info helps you if you are thinking about doing a van conversion too 👍🏻 Thank you for the sub Clive 🙏 We will be posting more vanlofe adventures throughout the summer. Take care.
Lovely use of space there folks. If you have not already done it, give a little consideration to securing that heavy timber worktop against shooting towards the passenger should you ever come to an instant stop.
Thankyou. Storage was our priority when designing the lay out as previous vans we hired everything just seemed to be on the floor. Ye the cuoboard is screwed into the floor about every 6" and into the plyboard across the top then a few L shaped brackets too. Not sure if its right or wrong but hasn't shifted yet.
Really good video! pity it doesn't still have BG logos on, would have made stealth camping easy (with some men at work signs put round) haha! I am drawn to the micro campers because they are as easy to drive as a car but all the ones I have seen can't fit a toilet which is downsized a step too far. You have managed to squeeze even that in so perfect.
Thankyou Rob that is much appreciated. You can still see the BG outline on our bonnet 🤣 but ye we don't really fit in the stealth category. Realisticly it is awkward but manageable with the toilet in the caddy. I suppose it depends how fussy you are. You can deffinenatly fit the toilet in no problem if building the furniture your self. To make it the easiest possible way would be to make the bed higher so it literally slides in and out in one piece.
Thankyou 😁 we never really totted it all up but we have added a few extras since this video (in our realistic van build video) so we would estimate around 12 - 13k
Hi Hannah and Nath. Thanks for the dimensions you posted. Just one other thing, what is the height of the bench [bed] from the floor to the top of the laths or did you just make the lower section to just fit over the wheel arch or did you buy the bed as a kit? Your advice is very welcome. Cheers
Hi Ivor, that's no problem, it is 35cm tall so it fits just above the wheel arch. We braught this as a kit thinking it would come ready built to speed things up. However the supports are in the wrong place for the wheel arches on a caddy so we had to cut alot off to modify it to fit. Also it comes flat packed. It took us 4hrs to build up. If you feel confident in doing a van build then we would recommend going for building a bed to fit the space your self. Thats what we would do next time after the experience with we had with the flat pack. Hope this helps. Nath & Hannah 👍🏻
This video is awesome, I'm only just starting to look into van conversions and this is definitely swaying me towards diving in. Would you feel comfortable sharing a breakdown of costs? Or perhaps the links to the bed frame, fridge, toilet etc?
Thankyou. I cant remember what everything costs but the bed kit is from www.vanfurniture.co.uk (they also sell on ebay) The toilet ect is from go outdoors. We got almost all our camping stuff from there. Hope this helps
@@NathandHannah ohh yeah you are amazing guys, thanks for your answer. noww i need to find a friend which is come to turkey from england. i live turkey now because. thank you again great couple ❤️🙏🙏😇🥰
We did but the portaloo (from go outdoors) spends the majority of its time in the roof box now campsite toilets are back open. Our bed is the kit from Van furniture. If you are thinking of keeping the loo under the bed then we would recommend building your bed from scratch to make an easier way to access the loo.
If cooker was round the other way the sliding door wouldn't cut into the room because the front door is sitting in probably what 4 inches more just a idea .o and I subscribed ☺.
Thank you. We have it sat that way round so we can stand & cook under the side awning. To be fair, half the time we take it out and cook on picnic tables. Cheers for the sub 👍🏻😁
Hiya, been following your channel a while now and I love watching your videos and they are very inspiring. I’m in the middle of converting my ex British Gas van and considering getting my electrics done as I would have no clue. Don’t mind me asking how much it cost for the electrics? Thank you 😊
Hi Henry, thanks for your kind words. We really appreciate that, its really nice of you to say. That is awsome. They really do make good adventure wagons. We hope that the build goes well and you enjoy your little blue van as much as we enjoy ours. It is deffinenatly worth getting the electrics done professionally if your unsure. I will say we have added extra electrics our selves since this video and it was easy. (But Vandoc did all the hard work so we only had to wire them into the fuse board) Just checked the quote and this was 2020 PRICES so it will be more now. Leisure battery, split charge & fuse board supplied and fitted £650 + Vat & £185 + Vat for sockets and LED,s we hope this helps you with your build. Nath & Hannah 🤙🏻✌🏻
Hi, I've attached the link for the direct 4x4 awning. The roof rails are just standard universal area bars with roof rail attachments. You can get these on ebay. direct4x4.co.uk/products/expedition-overland-pull-out-vehicle-camping-side-awning
Hi Steven, so the bench before been made into a bed in 160cm long x 60cm wide. However we built the cooker draw to extend the bed to 210cm long on the side. Hope this helps 👍🏻
Thankyou and no probs, We have a 2x2m pullout awning from Direct4x4 We also have the popular 2.5x2.5m 6 man living tent from Decatherlon as our drive away awning
@@NathandHannah Cool, I'll check that out. We camp with a roof top tent on our normal car and this looks like an awning that actually fits a normal estate car as well. Thanks a lot!
Hi, great build! What size is the bed please? And is the van a maxi? Also did you have a leisure battery fitted, or just run power from the main battery? Sorry for all the questions but I'm just getting ideas! Keep up the adventures, all the best, Paul.
Hi Paul, thats no problem at all. Yes she is a caddy maxi, the bed is 160cm long (but one side has and extra 50cm where our cooker is) and is 110cm wide We have a leisure battery behind the passenger seat which is charged through a split charge system. If you havnt seen it already then have a look at our "Realistic Van Tour" on our page. We try to answer the questions we kept getting on this vid and we have added some extras to make the van right. We hope this helps 👍🏻
I guess it depends on your video & channel. We had about 90 subscribers mainly mountain biking friends when we when we uploaded this video so the answer for us is nothing. We Purley made it to document this this chapter in our journey, help other people out with van builds as all our recourses were off social media and take onboard some tips off people for next time that we may have missed.

We have actually been following your channel for some time now. We came across one of your fab Isle of Skye videos last October time when we hit the sub button 👍🏻... Fair play to you both for the amount of awesome adventures you both get up too 👏🏻
Loved it guys, gave me some great ideas for my build next year. Thank you ❤️
Thank you so much Brad! Good luck with your build and have lots of fun with the process 😁
Love the flooring. Where did you get it please
Thankyou. We got it from this website >>

@@NathandHannah thank you. Absolutely love it
@@mckeon1960 thankyou
Very nice,It's my ideal renovation plan. But I'm in China, the second row seats are not allowed be removed...
Thankyou 😁
These vans wernt made with 2nd row seats in. Only in the car version
Love it! Great aesthetic :-)
Thankyou 😁
Great job that 👌
Thank you so much! 😁
Fantastic video! Such a lot of thought and hard work! (Just could have done without the absolutely awful background music). Safe travels and enjoy your adventures! X😁😊
Thankyou. It sure was but it was nice to see our ideas work out.
Yes, the sound tracks are just standard ones off the video editing app but there's a few we won't use again 😂
We have just found your video...First I have to say absolutely fantastic work on the camper by you both, its so nice and practical..What a great team you make. My hubby and I will be watching here from Ireland, safe travels and have a ball.
Background music wasn’t that bad
@@marykenna5778 sorry only just seen this. Thankyou for your kind comments.
Yes Claudia is deffinenatly practical for us.
Safe travels and adventures to the both of you too.
Cheers 👍
Great job👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thankyou 👍
Poor lad u just know he did not want that flooring 🤣🤣🤣🤣 got to keep the misses happy 🤣
No price can be put on the freedom it will give You both and the adventures ahead.. safe journeys
@@jerrykent6777 to right. Worth every penny
Hello, you did a very good job on Claudia, may I ask you what's that "barrier" stuff and where I can find it? CIAO!
Hi there, thankyou 😁
Our bed kit is 160cm long and then our cooker draw is 50cm.
Hope this helps & all the best with your build 👍🏻
So impressed, subscribe! Nice to see a conversion that isn’t trying to hide the fact she is now a fully fledged camper van! You should be very proud. Just a quick question, what sort of ballpark figure did the conversion cost? Kind regards from deepest Dorset 👍
Thank you very much Clive! We appreciate your kind comment 😁 Our conversion cost after buying Claudia cost us somewhere around the 5-6k mark but we have also added more tweaks since then which is on our realistic van tour video. We hope the price info helps you if you are thinking about doing a van conversion too 👍🏻
Thank you for the sub Clive 🙏 We will be posting more vanlofe adventures throughout the summer. Take care.
Hi just seen your video as I'm in the process of converting my vauxhall combo.
Just wondering where you got the bed from.
Hi Brucd, the bed is from vanfurniture.com (there on ebay too)
We hope your build goes well 👍🏻
Loverly job well done xx
😁 Awww, thank you so much Frank! 🤙🏻✌🏻
@@NathandHannah I am sure you have it well sorted :)
Nice video (apart from the annoying music) with some interesting ideas nice one 👍
Thankyou 👍
Ye not everyone's cup of tea. Its just standard music on the editing app
@@NathandHannah Its a belter IMO. Had a rave with the Bose on full blast in my spare bedroom.
Very impressive
Thankyou so much. Its really kind of you to say
Where did you buy the unit and bed? Looked like it came pre-made.
Vanfurniture.co.uk. it came flat-packed but we had to drill all the screw holes in
hi n I loved ur build. what was your total cost? thks rox
Thankyou 😁 we never really totted it all up but we have added a few extras since this video (in our realistic van build video) so we would estimate around 12 - 13k
Well done
Thankyou 😁
that looks great!
Thank you very much Rob 😁
Top job guys😎👍
Thankyou, we appritiate your good words 👍
Hi! Loved the video! Im looking to be the same van soon and was wondering where you got the awning from? x
Thankyou.
Our pull out awning is the 2mx2m from direct 4x4
Drive away awning is 6 man living tent from Decatherlon
Hope this helps
This video is awesome, I'm only just starting to look into van conversions and this is definitely swaying me towards diving in. Would you feel comfortable sharing a breakdown of costs? Or perhaps the links to the bed frame, fridge, toilet etc?
Thankyou. I cant remember what everything costs but the bed kit is from www.vanfurniture.co.uk (they also sell on ebay)
The toilet ect is from go outdoors. We got almost all our camping stuff from there. Hope this helps
Thank for sharing as this has helped me a lot on my steep learning curve!😁
great work, great camper, great couple 🥳🥳
your folding stove is co cool. can you say the brand and model name ? and where can we buy?
Thank you so much 😁 we do appreciate it.
Ye no problem

thank you again great couple ❤️🙏🙏😇🥰
@@zorbakalimero Awww, thank you 🙏🏻 You are very very welcome 😁 Happy to help 😊
I see you have a portaloo and it looks like you store it under the bed frame? Which loo and bed frame did you buy?
We did but the portaloo (from go outdoors) spends the majority of its time in the roof box now campsite toilets are back open. Our bed is the kit from Van furniture. If you are thinking of keeping the loo under the bed then we would recommend building your bed from scratch to make an easier way to access the loo.
Did you put a leisure battery in and if so where did you put it?
Love the design very inspiring.
Hiya Rion,
Yes, we have a leisure battery. It fits under the floor just behind the passenger seat 😊
Thank you so much!
@@NathandHannah cool I get it good idea
.
Please tell us about the lights. How are they powered?
They are powered by our leisure battery that is charged via a split charge system
Thanks
What a great build, where did you get the mosaic sheet flooring from?
Thankyou 😁
Our flooring was from "best4flooring".co.uk
(But Vandoc did all the hard work so we only had to wire them into the fuse board)
Just checked the quote and this was 2020 PRICES so it will be more now.
Leisure battery, split charge & fuse board supplied and fitted £650 + Vat & £185 + Vat for sockets and LED,s
we hope this helps you with your build.
Nath & Hannah 🤙🏻✌🏻
@@NathandHannah amazing! Thank you very much! Take care and keep enjoying van life :))
Hi. What awning did you buy? Could you please link us your roof rack and awning.
Hi, I've attached the link for the direct 4x4 awning. The roof rails are just standard universal area bars with roof rail attachments. You can get these on ebay.
direct4x4.co.uk/products/expedition-overland-pull-out-vehicle-camping-side-awning
What dimensions are the bed when it's up before it's pulled out
Length x width
Thanks
Hi Steven, so the bench before been made into a bed in 160cm long x 60cm wide.
However we built the cooker draw to extend the bed to 210cm long on the side.
Hope this helps 👍🏻
Where do you get your hands on a retired British gas van?
They are surprisingly quite easy to find. We got ours from a local used van sales 👍🏻
I had a flick last night and found a few. They hold a good value to
Nice video, thank you very much. Can you tell me what awning you are using? I didn't get that from the video.
Thankyou and no probs,
We have a 2x2m pullout awning from Direct4x4
We also have the popular 2.5x2.5m 6 man living tent from Decatherlon as our drive away awning
@@NathandHannah Cool, I'll check that out. We camp with a roof top tent on our normal car and this looks like an awning that actually fits a normal estate car as well. Thanks a lot!
Ye they do a smaller one too.
I got the info off somone who had it on a pick up. Very sturdy
@@NathandHannah Thanks very much for your reply, I'll watch that video later 👍🏼
When you film a project how much cash can you make to fund the bits you need iff anything
