1:12 some corrections, this is a common misconception that every clan wanted to be the new shogun, in reality, that is not the case. A lot of Daimyo of the era just used the sengoku jidai as a way to expand their territory and influence, as well as secure their family status, being the shogun actually came with a lot of downsides and many daimyo simply weren’t interested in the responsibilities of a shogun. It was also just not possible for like 90% of the clans in feudal Japan to even become shogun, as the daimyo of the clan needed to be able to trace their lineage back to the minamoto clan (the original shoguns). Basically, you had to be either an ancestor of the minamoto clan or have connections to them at the very least, to prove their legitimacy of a shogun, this was something that only a handful of daimyos like imagawa yoshimoto and Tokugawa ieyasu could do.
Just found your video today as I wait for Stalker 2 to download. I, myself just got back into Shogun 2, after watching the phenomenal show of the same name, it got me sucked back into the game, and since then Ive finished 3 campaigns. Happy Thanksgiving amigo, great video.
To be fair, separate, individual duels during field battles weren't really a thing during the Sengoku period. Samurai and ashigaru fought in formations. Yeah, sometimes things could get more chaotic, with some scattered, one-on-one fights, but generally, melee combat consisted of spear walls. Not to mention that, regardless if we are talking about fighting in tight formation or scattered fights, several men would attack one enemy at the same time whenever possible. This, unfortunately, does not occur in Shogun 2 - all fights are only one-on-one and that's definitely not how samurai and ashigaru fought. I loved how in Rome 1 and Medieval 2 several soldiers would attack one all at the same time if they had the opportunity. But I have to agree that the animations themselves in Shogun 2 are done very well, they look quite cinematic.
the tax thing is not that great of a tip, sure it gives u a lot of money at the moment but in the long run it makes your towns poorer lowering the prosperity
@@veihijackzdah792 yeah but when you play with mods that make the map bigger you really need the prosperity in the long run, but I agree it is sometimes useful
i really dont like this game, i played it multiple times trying to like it but i just didnt... i really want to like this game, because i can sense the potential for it being a great game, but i just dont enjoy it. can anyone enlighten me and find the spark to let me finally enjoy this so-called "masterpiece"?
A lot of total war games are you either love it or you just don't connect with it and I get it I took awhile to get into it but I really don't know what it is. I just suddenly really enjoyed it lol

A great game I re-install it every year
this also means you are uninstalling it every year
@@Luno_IlluminoI thought the same, why uninstall it then lol
Uninstalling Shogun 2? Shamefurr Disprayy!!!

@@sativa-sloth6099 happy thanksgiving to you too enjoy stalker 2!
The fall of the samurai DLC is my 2nd favourite DLC in any game ever. The units are so fun to use!

Shogun 3, Medieval 3, Empire 2... the dream games
Technically not “every” clan was vying for the shogunate. Most were just trying to secure local power. Oda and Tokugawa definitely were though.
Happy thanksgiving man. Well wishes to you and yours!
@@AshtonMossPunk you too dude 😎
One of my favorite game moments in all my games was playing Fall of the Samauri and using cannons to break up an attack by medieval infantry.
One of the Holy Trinity of Total War, including RTW and Medieval 2 TW
Used to play this with my childhood best friend side by side for hours. Great times, great game. We especially loved assassinating people with geishas
I love every piece if this game! The art for technologies and bulidings is excellent!
I can play it 1000 times and it will always be fun
Wierd question but what’s the music you use in the background beginning at 2:23
It's actually from a game called kingdom 2 crowns and from the shogun dlc so I thought it would fit nicely
@@CyberBeanyea fits the video really well. This video was a shogun nostalgia trip for me been ages since I’ve played it
It all went downhill after this game. Its so amazing that CA got to the peak and then just jumped off from there
Definitely one of my favorite total wars. Can never seem to run it on steam now ☹️
matched combat animations ruined total war battles TBH
Only thing i dont like is how quick the battles are and units feel like they have no "weight". They move like a wind
honestly I kinda like the speed of it but thats just my opinion
Its spell Da-Te not Date
Shamfurr Disprayy
im so sorry to dishonor the date clan
What is that map you used when you introduced Fall of the Samurai?
I actually have no idea I used the fall of the samurai trailer I couldn't have gotten such good camera angles lol
Antikleaper👀 so fun
I hate using the term GOAT ,but this game was so close of claiming that title if it wasn't for ther terrible diplmacy of a.i
Yeah. 5000 koku for military access that they'll never even use.
@@terranceanderson5180a koku is koku believe me if you play in very hard or legendary every single koku is worth a dime
