Another shogun 2 magic trick: Around 8:20 you exempted Mikawa from tax to help with unrest, but the thing is, in that turn Mikawa was unhappy even without tax. So, exemption basically does nothing. So what you can do for that turn is set tax to very high and you actually don't lose anything if you manage to bring public order to yellow or green in the next turn. TLDR: If a province is unhappy either way, you might as well just set taxes to very high (although in this specific example that would affect Owari as well).
But this reduces the town growth very criticially about ten time that province will lose at least 200 wealth points. I like this when starting playing this game very much but not soon later :)).

@@TripleZHacker One of my major current problems is usually when I try to keep a cost efficient, small but effective force out of nowhere I'll come up against stacks that have x2 the exp than my own men and sometimes almost double my men. Another is just how big of a fleet should I keep for trade nodes? I either go too hard in the proverbial paint and hemorrhage money, or I get pushed off far easier than I would like.
@@GloriousShiva42 Ah for sure what difficulty do you play on? As for trade fleets you want to have 10 trade ships on the node itself and then a battle fleet defending the trade ships. As for cost efficient armies ashigaru are great early on and then you want to slowly fill your ranks with samurai/monks. Light cav can be really cost efficient early on but it does depend on the clan to some degree too. If you struggle with income the best thing to do is focus on purely economic buildings in your provinces at the beginning (Farms/Markets/Sake Den/Specialized Province Resource Buildings). Make sure to focus on the Way of Chi arts too as there are some nice economic bonuses (Todofuken is great to have early on).
@@TripleZHacker How many combat ships and of what size bune? And as for difficulty I play on a mix of Easy and Normal, not ashamed of it either Shogun II being my first Total War game. @@GloriousShiva42 yeah any difficulty is fine whichever you want to play, the more you learn you can change it over time. Hello, do you know what I can do about always getting attacked by multiple Clans at the same time, its not not normal anymore. 5 clans are atacking me on every sides I have. I lost alr 70%
What difficulty are you playing on? Which clan are you playing as also? Sometimes clans will just declare war randomly on harder difficulties, you have to defeat them one at a time, also sometimes if you wipe out their army you can get peace with them.
Ah okay, well it's tough to manage multiple enemies but its best to have a defensive force on a front and two armies to roam and assist. You want to focus on eliminating clans. Try to defeat the Imagawa and Satio, who you can vassalize, and then try to take out Kiso they have a good province to defend. Try to expand in directions that provide good defensive positions and have two armies support each other when possible. Well i just started playing this game and I wonder how do you have more than a 100 units with, for example your yari ashigaru. I tried to find answer for it on the internet but could not. Can somebody explain this to me? Is it related to difficulity?
Oda ashigaru have an upkeep and cost reduction so you can recruit a lot of them also I was constantly going to very high tax rate to get more income to afford such larger armies that quickly.
@@TripleZHacker That one I understand myself. But I never managed to recruit more than 100. Like when I recruit it does not produce more than 100 personnel at a time. So having 200 in a unit is a clan speciality?
i played shogun 2 recently so im gonna make a guess for why oda is the strongest clan...... strongest early gamebecause every clan is restriced to ashigaru, oda can field 2 armies with eas while other clans need more rounds to do it. the early game is the eziest in the game and this is the only part were a clan need to be strong
I think the advantage at the beginning of the campaign makes a tremendous difference in terms of wealth and expansion. Obviously there are clans were more powerful unit/army comps however Oda can replace armies quickly and have more armies active. Long Yari Ashigaru are also the strongest melee infantry unit in the game.
and (S2TW fans)ppl say shogun 2 have smartest ai in battle but i dont see any difference (for now), details are amazing but warscape is killing my experience in game along with unit variety.
They just Buff the strongest unit in the game and have the chad version of it long ashigaru. No reason to get fancy samurai even late game cz ashingaru is still stronger because they benefit more from upgrades due to large unit size
How are you supposed to make money in this game to allow yourself to build something more exciting than asjigaru? I played a short campaign yesterday in the Rise of Samurai dlc. Taxes is the only reliable income - since sacking a conquered city damages my daymjo honor - this creates civil unrest in the ALL cities and no level of oppression can keep it in check. Oppression methods like garnisons and fortification costs money and has upkeep. Also cool troops like samurai or warrior monks need advanced building tech tree that costs shit tonn of money + that city is usually in the heart of your empire, mening that even if you build some OP units it will take 5-6 turns to make it to the front to your general. 5-6 turns is too long. Oh, yes you can use ship transportation - just to risk to lose all army to constant harrasing fleet of the sea clan. So I had to rush Kyoto only with asjigaru stacks. I managed to hold of Kyoto and Yamato while keeping almost half of far east portion of Japan, and then came a general with a full stack of yari samurai and foot samurai. No tactical genius can beat that shit, I had to survive just 2 turns more while I were backstabbing my trusty ally to get the last goal city... I had no money all game cuz I can only peacefully occupy and I don't trust ratty vassals. Seeing enemy coming forth with 2 armies of pure samurai made me rage quit and delete game 😮😢😅 I also had trade agreements with 90% of Japan, and at all times had war only with 1 faction at a time. So trade + taxes was only good for 3 generals fill stacked with asjigaru. I gave birth eventually for 5 warrior archer monks, they never came in time cus they travelled all the game to the front line. Mad. Mad. 💢
There’s a few options: you can raise taxes to the max every other turn for income, also once you get 9 total honor with your daimyo you can loot freely as you only get a -3 reduction of honor from looting so you’d never lose the 6. Also focus on upgrading units slowly, you will likely use ashigaru throughout the game yeah, playing on lower difficulties it’s easier for sure
Well for this video specifically and for the Oda that’s their play style. Also I focused on taking Kyoto very quickly but in most cases you slowly expand and then build up and then expand again cycle until realm divide.
@@blob22201 Well again I’m not necessarily showing that type of gameplay, but the Oda have the potential to do that-plus they do get an ashigaru bonus so you’re going to be using lots of Ashigaru as them! Also taking Kyoto so early is beneficial for some reasons but others not so much lol regardless I think the main thing to consider is how you wish to play and how you can enjoy the game, if you want to challenge yourself or focus on something for your campaigns that’s fine too~

@@kubaGR8 its not suboptimal its harder and more realistic/fair. military access is and will always be a chessing thing. You get free money and provide sth the AI doesnt need or use except in very rare cases. So ofc that makes me a better play since i can beat the game without these tricks. Same goes for reloading failing agents, insane army split abuse etc. Without that the game is insanely hard so ppl better cheese than having to deal with that and think they are so good :D
@@julianlipsky2323 Are all chess grandmasters actually noobs at the game because they can't win without using the best openings all the time? Or moving the Queen piece? It's so strong after all! Before baking soda was invented, cake was baked by vigorously mixing the batter for hours on end to force the air into it that way, and most still weren't nearly as good as the fluffy goodness we have today. If I had cake from two bakers, one made with baking powder and the other the old fashioned way, then the baker using baking soda would rightfully be called the better baker, despite the fact that baking with baking soda is easier. A CS:GO pro team that does not use AKs because they're "too good" would similarily just be worse than a team who does. Refusing to do the things you might call "cheese" does not make you better at the game, if anything it makes you worse because you're not performing at 100%
@@kubaGR8 so if i don’t use cheat codes i not use the full potential? I think you don’t get it and i don’t get your logic. You compare things that are not matching. Chess is always a fair game, AKs are a normal weapon in a multiplayer game. I talk about a single game where you can get yourself „lame“ advantages. They are just bugs like in every other game. In Speedruns they use them to finish a game faster. But if you want a real challenge you should play it on a mostly fair level. I trick the AI too here and there or reload a battle or agent activity if i think it was too unlucky (like two 80% fail) or i could do much better since i often take the „lazy“ fight first without thinking about an insane outplay tactic. But it’s never a complete abuse. You guys can play the game as you want to but i will not hesitate to criticize it or feel it’s totally boring because most of this cheese is. Not worth watching. It’s not hard to do and doesn’t require skill. Everyone can beat legendary like that.
@@julianlipsky2323 By definition yes. Work smarter not harder. I'm not talking about a "real challenge", I'm talking about being good at the game. On top of all of this, ODa nobuhide and Oda Nobunaga get HUGE personal trait bonuses the more battles they are in, that give your troops more morale, and instill fear (lower morale) in enemy.
Whilst it is harder to turtle with Oda, compared ot Date and Shiamzu, the Oda campaign has the best bonuses. Once you get gold tier long spear, odds are you have won the legendary campaign. May take another 60 turns, but yo have likel already won.
When Im doing it in my campaign 2 full stack army vs my 1 stack army. Its hard to micro management. But im learning thanks for the vid.
im so sorry about your dog he is in heaven now and that was very smart move i always play in legendary and end up getting recked from all fronts :D
I'm sorry for your loss, there is no way to take losing your 4-legged child easily.
Thank you and yes indeed
4-legged child? Cringe
Yes, they're not children at all. But they are very dear friends and they're always innocent.@@Montaggg33
I'm glad you're still making videos on this game, I got it recently and have almost 100 hours logged but I feel like I've gotten nowhere. Thanks for the vids, though I think the main problem is just me unfortunately.
Glad you enjoy the videos and I'll be sure to make more guides tell me what you're struggling with and how I can help~
I don't even wanna think about getting into Rise of the Samurai and Fall of the Samurai. Also thank you so much for these quick responses! I know it was by happenstance but I just got merked in my last playthrough and was watching a show to blow off steam, and with these responses I already feel pretty confident. Also yes, Todofuken is beloved, I try to make it a split between sprinting for Todofuken and whatever Clans mastery (Like the Chosokabe's Bow Mastery)
@@GloriousShiva42 yeah any difficulty is fine whichever you want to play, the more you learn you can change it over time. Um ideally you want a mix of ships and then eventually just the European ships you get whenever you build a nanban trade post~ I typically don’t fight many Naval battles in the game but a combination of ships usually gets the job done with numbers in most cases!
dang i instinctively, push wasd button and the Q and E button
When you take kyoto, before realm deivide all clans eage war on you creat vassals as youll get forever loyal subjects when cresting vassals make sure thry are far from majour conmection points
You say that the Oda are the strongest clan, yet only one clan can capture Kyoto as early as turn 1.
This was written by a Hattori supremacist.
That’s true and fair to say lol
wish they'd make a shogun total war for mobile or upgraded it to the steam deck. idk how combat would be on a controller but id def have some fun with it
in my first playthrough oda nobunaga betrayed me joined the takeda and i had to kill him lmao
Ever thought about doing a moded run, i got a list for you, shogun 2 on roid rage mode, i hope the audience loves doublestack battles
Oh yeah send the list would be curious what it includes~
Hi. What resolution is this? I struggle with small text on 1440p 24". 1080p looks so shit - and the text is still barely readable. And yes i have large fonts pack mod, not helping. UI scale of your resolution tells me it gotta be 1080 or smaller...
Ah it’s 1080, so it’s less scale sorry, I should use the large font pack mod more often, but this was when the new mod manager was just released so I didn’t have any mods active so sorry about the UI difficulties…
Ive never played a Oda campaign before but for sure they are almost always big when the AI plays them
Yeah AI Oda usually does well and give it a try if you want they’re very powerful
U can legit do meatgrind whit the ashigarus until last drop of blood their cheaper better trained and everything
Much love to doggy
Hello, do you know what I can do about always getting attacked by multiple Clans at the same time, its not not normal anymore. 5 clans are atacking me on every sides I have. I lost alr 70%
What difficulty are you playing on? Which clan are you playing as also? Sometimes clans will just declare war randomly on harder difficulties, you have to defeat them one at a time, also sometimes if you wipe out their army you can get peace with them.
I play on normal and as Oda😊
Ah okay, well it's tough to manage multiple enemies but its best to have a defensive force on a front and two armies to roam and assist. You want to focus on eliminating clans. Try to defeat the Imagawa and Satio, who you can vassalize, and then try to take out Kiso they have a good province to defend. Try to expand in directions that provide good defensive positions and have two armies support each other when possible. You are the oda so you can overwhelm the other clans with numbers, aside from Ikko @@justwatching5867
24:18 you guys ever watch American Gods?
I wonder if someones general was the only unit to die in a battle... that would suck
is the music at the end from the soundtrack?
Yes
Everyone playing Shogun 2: the Oda are the strongest clan.
Meanwhile one my first campaign they died on turn 7.
In the hand of a player
Wait, then why do they keep getting their asses kicked early on every campaign i start? Because im not playing as them?
wow so quick
@@sandorberenyi5015 oh that has to do with the unit scale/size I have it set to ultra
@@TripleZHacker Okay, that clears it up. Thank you very much
@@sandorberenyi5015 of course it was a misunderstanding on my part initially lol yeah unit scale fun to play around with for campaigns
CHOKOSABE FOR THE WIIIIIIIN
Ashigaru pikes!
Rip Dogo 😢
I’ll pray for your dog 🙏
Oda be like: I'm writing One Piece
i played shogun 2 recently so im gonna make a guess for why oda is the strongest clan...... strongest early gamebecause every clan is restriced to ashigaru, oda can field 2 armies with eas while other clans need more rounds to do it.
the early game is the eziest in the game and this is the only part were a clan need to be strong
But it's honest work
The bakufu is not going to end, more like gonna be replaced by the oda bakufu xD
Idk if Oda is the most powerful, perhaps it is because my only Campaign Victory was with them.
I think the advantage at the beginning of the campaign makes a tremendous difference in terms of wealth and expansion. Obviously there are clans were more powerful unit/army comps however Oda can replace armies quickly and have more armies active. Long Yari Ashigaru are also the strongest melee infantry unit in the game.
how can you have 200 yari ashigaru? mine's only have 160
Unit scale/size in the settings you’re on large and I was playing on ultra
@@TripleZHacker thanks
But Legend, kiting enemies and killing them one by one is cheese! Oops, wrong channel
TASTE MY HOLY GUNPOWDER!!!!!!!!!!!
Answer: Yari Ashigaru are completely overpowered and needed to be nerfed heavily
Because the AI has no idea how to play around Yari wall.
and (S2TW fans)ppl say shogun 2 have smartest ai in battle but i dont see any difference (for now), details are amazing but warscape is killing my experience in game along with unit variety.
Hey, my model amount is lower per unit how come ?
You have to in the settings change the unit size to ultra!
@@TripleZHacker gee, I didn't know that was a thing. Thanks a lot for the fast response
@@valentinocaceres6954 of course and welcome glad to help!
Ah yes Oda, the only clan where I can get 150k thousand men to conquer Japan withouth my economy breaking a sweat.
They just Buff the strongest unit in the game and have the chad version of it long ashigaru. No reason to get fancy samurai even late game cz ashingaru is still stronger because they benefit more from upgrades due to large unit size
Yeah a few samurai are nice but definitely can just Zerg around as the Oda
i finaly finished the total war shougun 2 on normal diffculty with ODA clan and im happy ❤🎉 im pirating the game and dont have steam
I'd say Hattori is even stronger, but Oda is indeed strong.
But this doesnt do anything? you have to hold it for a year...
Yeah but that’s not too difficult to do with the situation regardless you just keep a full army there and win defensive sieges if you get attacked
Now do it with Ikko-Ikki =0
Right! Much closer to Kyoto, still only Hattori can pull that off as you don’t have to fight the other Ashikaga army outside of the settlement
Keep in mind Rise of the Samurai plays very differently.
Legendary difficulty looks so unfun lol, just ashigaru spam.
Well for this video specifically and for the Oda that’s their play style. Also I focused on taking Kyoto very quickly but in most cases you slowly expand and then build up and then expand again cycle until realm divide.
@@TripleZHacker true, I guess I'm just not a fan of the hyper optimised way of playing total war.
@@blob22201 Well again I’m not necessarily showing that type of gameplay, but the Oda have the potential to do that-plus they do get an ashigaru bonus so you’re going to be using lots of Ashigaru as them! Also taking Kyoto so early is beneficial for some reasons but others not so much lol regardless I think the main thing to consider is how you wish to play and how you can enjoy the game, if you want to challenge yourself or focus on something for your campaigns that’s fine too~
strongest clan is hojo rocket
The answer: It's not
Definitely not an oda propaganda...
i recently lose my dad and i can understand that emotional breaking in your voice. I dont believe in any religion but I wish some day we meet again with our loved ones and be able to hug them and kiss them again.
I’m so sorry for your loss I feel the same way I’m sure we will all see them again :)
Bro nice abuse of territory access…i beat the game in legendary without that.
So you play the game in a suboptimal way. How exactly does that make you a better gamer?
Just because you work harder doesn't make your work any better. A dude with a shovel will do a whole lot of work to dig a ditch, but he's by all accounts worse at it than the dude who has an excavator.
Honestly, Oda clan is easiest one so far. Ive got 20k koku in first 10-15 turns in legendary for trade agreement with Chosukabe. Something tells me i have used some cheese strat.
@@gurka2513 likely had warhorses so they wanted to build cav by trading with you as most of the AIs will give you lots of koku for it but yeah Oda is definitely a very easy campaign
