  • I've argued that DMAIC should not be used for Problem Solving (and I stand with that 🧐), but that doesn't mean that DMAIC isn't a great tool to use if you're aiming for 📈 Performance Improvement that will go beyond your previously proven output levels. DMAIC is the go-to Improvement Route for Six Sigma, but of course it will also work perfectly for many projects not focused on Process Variation Reduction.
This video is the first in a little 🎥 mini series - we'll. be covering the 5 steps in more detail over the next few weeks. In this one, you'll get the overview of DMAIC, with the goals and a short description for each of the phases. It'll set you up to better understand the structure and benefits DMAIC, which is important because this framework doesn't give you a very strong structure out of the box. There is a lot of misunderstanding of the phases and that DMAIC really is a system that's meant for pretty beefy teams - think 3 months, not 3 days 😉

Thank you Tom for this fantastic explanation of when and how DMAIC can be very useful. Hundreds of videos on TH-cam about Operational Excellence, and never a concise, simple, no nonsense, practical explanation about the DMAIC methodology. Until now. Looking forward to the next phases' videos!
