  • Welcome back to Retro Ralph's Arcade Adventures! In this exciting episode, I'm thrilled to share my latest treasure with you: Atari's Food Fight arcade game! This classic gem holds a special place in gaming history as it was the pioneer of a revolutionary 68000 Processor, allowing for an incredible "Instant Replay" feature that we'll showcase towards the end of the video!
    But that's not all; Food Fight was also the first to introduce a SOLID STATE joystick, pushing the boundaries of arcade gaming innovation.
    Join me on a journey to uncover the rare, untold story of this unique arcade masterpiece. Sadly, very few of these extraordinary games have survived the test of time, with most of them being converted to other titles in the late '80s due to the game's initial lack of popularity upon its release.
    Don't miss this epic dive into gaming history, and let's relive the excitement of Food Fight together! If you love retro gaming and arcade nostalgia, be sure to hit that like button, subscribe, and ring the notification bell so you never miss an episode of Retro Ralph's Arcade Adventures!

    Back in the 80’s I had a strategy guide that included this game and I really wanted to play it, but over my entire childhood I only saw the cabinet ONCE, and only had time to play it once. Years later I fell in love with it via emulator. It’s kinda obscure but so underrated, and I’m so happy it finally got some appreciation in the Atari 50th Anniversary collection.

That afterburner is a monster of a machine too can't imagine having to move that game.. The JP shooter with the 32 screen is probably the heaviest game I have ever owned ..and although I liked the game I was happy to see it go so I didn't have to move it anymore!

  • @FormulaFox
    @FormulaFox 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Another example of why I'm a heathen and would just swap CRTs for LCDs by default.... Except I'm not ACTUALLY a heathen because the main reason I would do that is to maximize the number in circulation to keep light gun cabs running. :P
    Seriously, though, if someone like Unico would just install scanline options on the hardware level(its more than possible) you'd only a need a bubble cover like what New Wave Toys has recently started doing to get enough of the CRT feel to be worth it for most games.
    As for Food Fight, I had that back on my 7800 as well. Fun game. And I didn't even know it was originally an arcade game until I started getting into this scene about five or six years ago. Shows how much I missed not having BIG arcades in my vicinity as a kid.

    • @RetroRalph
      @RetroRalph  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hear you man, I wish someone would come out with something with reallly believable scanline options and like you said some kind of cover to simulate curvature. I don't think I would be opposed to LCDs if they could truly recreate "the look" of a CRT. Hopefully one day, but for now it's just rolling up the sleeves and fixing them as they break. They just always seem to break on me at the worst times... LOL. Anyhow, thanks so mich for the comment and thank you so much for watching!

    Is actually anyone reconstructing CRT monitors in USA? I bet someone should be in Vegas, just because they do much of neon lights there. To reconstruct a CRT you need to work with high voltages and to cut and weld glass, exactly what they do with neon lights.
    By the 90’s in my city use to be a company doing that reconstruction job to get back to life CRT tubes, I think is important somebody today keeping that trade and attend demand from restorers wide world as manufacturing of new tubes is absolutely discontinued.
