    I just bought th MR4 and own the R2000DB for what it's worth, the MR4 sounds better. I placed them at ear level at me desk and the MR4 sounds much cleaner and the instrument separation is noticable. I partially plugged the opening on the back of the MR4 to compensate for boomy sound the speaker was emiting becuase of the location of the speakers. And they sound awesome. I only wish that they featured more options like an opitical line in and bluetooth. Other than that, I recommend them highly.

    It really depends on what you gonna use them for i tested both. And in my opinion the sound quality is better in MR4 if you only gonna use it for music then go ahead and buy it. For myself however i use PC for lots of things like gaming and in gaming Edifier MR4 performs strangely i do not know why but the sound in there is very quiet and flat for some reason something that does not happen when listening music. it makes games unplayable for me it's that bad. If you are not some "audio nut" and need versatile speakers, you are probably better off going with 1280 like myself but MR4 have superior sound quality so if you just want to listen to music go with those instead not that 1280 have poor sound quality they are good too just a bit behind MR4. If you can just order both listen compare and return the ones which you do not like xD

    Just got the 1280DBs yesterday as an upgrade to my old 980T's. And holy mother of god on a stick do they sound like absolute garbage! The treble is sharp, distorted and very sibilant (which is pretty much impossible to fix with EQ). While the mids just are just not... there. Listening to most of my rock/metal collection feels like sticking nails in my eardrums. Might be good for electronic music and stuff that does not use highs as much, but damn, even listening to dialogue can be painful at times.
    I don't feel like returning these speakers, but rather smash them with a sledgehammer, to permanently remove this abomination of a speaker system from the face of the earth.

      i have he r1280dbs and there great but you have to do the 130hz to about -10db with an equalizer. you can easily do it with the apo equalizer. the bass is great and go deep so that movies sound powerfull and music is good too but you have to turn the trebble to about +3db on the speaker and they sound much better than in this video. but i think the mr4 have better trebble and a bit better mids because of the larger tweeter so i dont know what to choose in best case you can buy both and try them in real becuase you cant say anything how they sound with a recording.

    Some people say MR4 do hiss and some people they don't. Someone is lying, but who? Usually it is the ones who own the speakers and don't want to admit that they are bad. I have been watching under 200€ speakers for few days now and it seems that everything is bad. Maybe I just forget these and buy Creative Pebble for 22€. They are probably not hissing and they will not take the whole desk space.

    • @ИльяЛисицкий-ч4и
      @ИльяЛисицкий-ч4и ปีที่แล้ว

      it all depends on the quality of the recording, I also have d12, it also hisses, but less if the recording is with the background, then the hissing is heard when you listen to the yello or hanz zimmer group on both devices, everything is fine, but bad when connected to a TV

    • @FromTheHood
      @FromTheHood ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I have R2000DB, I never heard a hiss coming from them, they are connected to my DAC and DAC to my PC, no hiss at all.
      I did read from some people that their R2000DB had a loud hiss to the point where they returned them.
      I also had Mackie CR3-XBT LTD and some people said they don't hiss, others said they do, mine did hiss to the point where I returned them.
      It's not about who's lying, it's just that there are factors that can produce the hiss, from cheap AMP's in them, to cheap cable's, interference etc.

      Same! I have been looking for 1 week now. Every time I find a possible candidate and read about it I see people giving contradicting statements. When I ask for recommendations people want to recommend me speakers that are $400+ and would fill my entire computer desk. Making me sit on the floor with my keyboard since the desk is covered by two gigantic speakers...
      Like I just want a set of speakers on my computer desk for music, movies and meetings. Do people also recommend Ferrari for people who want to commute between home and work everyday?

      @xvnbm ปีที่แล้ว

      I just bought Presonus Eris E4.5. They have hiss like 2 seconds when you turn them on from the power button, but no hiss after that. I don't know about the sound quality, because I don't have speakers to compare them with. Not mind blowing or anything compared to normal pc speakers, but I can notice the difference especially when I increase the volume. PC speakers started to sound bad, but these starts to sound better when you increase the volume and they have better bass. Some said that these studio monitors have more harsh sound than regular speakers. I think I agree with that statement. I think it sounded odd at first, but now it sounds normal to me. I don't know if they were worth the price compared to regular pc speakers in normal pc use.

      Thanks. I would buy it if I hadn't read your review. I only want high definition speakers because my sony speakers go "sssssssss" on the super tweeter. For me, speakers MUST be absolutely silent when not playing anything. I don't know which one to buy anymore. I was going to buy the presonus eris 3.5, but they say the format is V Shape. I like it more neutral, with good mids. So, back to point zero.

      May i ask What is your power source?

      @@Ray-bn7hr You just plug in AC power. The speakers that should do the filtering. It wasn't just him who complained about the noise from the tweeters, I've seen others complain too.

      Going to buy a set of Pebble and call it a day. Audiophiles are such weird beings. Above someone call 1280DBs for trash and garbage. Now this comment says MR4 is muddy and hissing.. What a conflicted community. Unless someone spend $1000+ and fill their entire desk by speakers they can, apparently, not have good sound.

      @@zoomzoom9999 1280DB is way better sound wise better sound stage and better lows and mids , I mean the speaker itself is 20mm wider than MR4 , MR4 on the other hand is just neutral and also MR4 has way more build quality issue than 1280DB . Plus 1280DB has better connectivity options like optical and bluetooth with a remote control witch is not bad. I bought 1280DB over MR4 even if MR4 was on discount and was 30$ cheaper than 1280DB, cause the white noise on the idle was louder than 1280DB, I don't say 1280 don't have a white noise , but its way way way less noticeable than on MR4 , on MR4 you can hear the whitenoise on the idle from 1-2 meters ,while on 1280DB you have to literally put your ears near tweeters to hear it. 2nd , is the build quality , for some reason MR4 just feels cheap , they are lighter than 1280 and they feel cheaper , it can't be described you have to touch them to feel it :D 3rd, the soundstage, middles and the lows on MR4 basically non existent , even when playing with Eq mids and lows sound like someone is punching a piece of wood , too abrupt and not deep enough to make you excited to listen to pop music and its not smooth enough to enjoy other genres ,my 10 years old 10w sven speakers middles and lows sounded better than on MR4.

    None of that sounds really good. The MR4 has little bass, it sounds like a smaller speaker than it is. The R1280 has a tinted sound. R1700 is a bit better than these.
